Maybe she didn’t want to be president as badly as her fans wanted her to? I don’t know. What I do know is that this is a killer for most careers and more that likely will be for her. However, just as Obama rode a perfect storm to the White House, maybe Palin can as well. Remember, the big reason that Obama won was Bush fatigue. People were so fed up with Bush and his party that they went with the unknown quantity despite the obvious flaws. If there would have been a video of Obama dealing drugs to preschoolers, it would not have mattered. He would still have been elected. That’s how badly Bush and the Republicans were hated in November. Now, the tide is turning.
There’s a good chance that Obama/Democrat fatigue will be just as great, especially when the cap and trade impact starts hitting in a couple years. Toss on his taxes and other economy killers and Americans will be ready for new blood again. Even after this, Palin could win that matchup. She would just have to get out of the primaries. That would be the tough part, yes, but her fan base is pretty rabid so it’s possible. And if not, hey, we have that nice photo shoot in Runners World!
But then again, maybe she is just looking to be private citizen Palin for the rest of her life. One of the things I really admire about her is that she is down to Earth and just like the rest of us. Speaking for myself, if I was in her shoes, I’d walk away too rather than deal with all the crap. In the meantime, another star falls from the Republican sky. If they keep disappearing like this, we’ll have to dig up Reagan’s corpse and run it. Hey, wait a minute, maybe that would work. Obama is just a teleprompter reading puppet, maybe we can get Reagan’s corpse, tie some strings to it for motion control and play some of his speeches. It just might work.
Anyway, my ADD is running amok. Sorry. God Speed Sarah Palin in what ever you decide and thanks for being the only thing worthwhile in the last election.
Apparently Katie Couric was prepped for her interview with Palin by 2 Obama staffers. The saddest part was that she admitted it in an open forum thinking nothing of conflicts of interest or the like. The MSM drops even lower.
This is the first in a series of blog posts that deal with the election and the aftermath. A couple are not nice to Senator McCain and this is one of them. Beth is going to hate me for this post. I have been seething for 6 weeks or so but now it has come full out. I can’t hold back any longer so here goes. Can you believe that McCain’s people are pawing through Palin’s clothes to make sure she or her family are not taking anything the campaign bought? WTF? Seriously, WTMF? This is the last straw.
Senator McCain, the treatment the Sarah Palin has received and is still receiving for the sin of accepting your invite to be the VP is a disgrace and it lies squarely at your feet.
When you announced Palin, everyone knew it was a brilliant move. So did the democrats. In their war room, their own focus groups were saying things like “Sarah Palin is one of us” or “She can help John McCain shake up Washington”. They were worried. And rightly so. They then went on the rampage savaging her left and right and you said NOTHING. What’s worse is you said NOTHING and forbade her from doing so as well. When they called her every name in the book, you said NOTHING. When they passed the story of Trig being the daughter’s baby, you said NOTHING. When you pulled that stupid stunt (and I was right, it was a stunt, read the article) and started to tank, your people savaged her. When they blamed Palin for your losses, even though she was packing them in every where she went, you said NOTHING.
Now, Senator, they are saying things that are so far beyond the pale that they are obvious lies and you still say NOTHING. You say to blame you for the loss. Guess what? Most people with a brain do! It’s not Palin that refused to fight, It was you. It’s not Palin who sucked in 2 of 3 debates, it was you. It’s not Palin who railed against a couple million in earmarks while signing onto the biggest boondoggle in US history, that was YOU. Now you sit idly by while a dedicated servant of the people, one who put her life on hold for you, gets savaged by your people and you say NOTHING.
Senator McCain, you had a chance to stop this crap the day before the election and you said NOTHING. You had the chance to put a stop to it on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday and you said NOTHING. You went on Leno and he gave you an open shot to stop it and when asked, YOU SAID NOTHING! Worse, you tried to dismiss it! In my eyes, you are now lower than dirt. I never really liked you before but I bit my tongue and grudgingly supported you. Now I am ashamed of that support and not because you lost but because of what you are allowing now. One word from you would stop this and you say nothing. So much for honor. So much for dignity.
This is how you treat your friends? This is how you treat those who went through hell for you? This is how you treat the woman who had her life turned completely upsidef’ingdown FOR YOU? She went through all that for YOU senator. This is how you pay her back? You have no honor. You are lucky Todd does.
But even in this, there is one small silver lining. Had you been victorious, we are seeing first hand how you would have treated Sarah and the other conservatives. Sarah will be back in 4 years, hopefully you won’t be.
There’s little point dwelling on the loss, although we have many things to be grateful for:
1. Al Franken probably won’t win. He’s the nastiest, most poisonous hate-monger currently operating in leftyland, and that is saying something. Possibly the least attractive human being I have ever witnessed.
2. We can see whether their commitment to confronting the imaginary global warming crisis trumps their commitment to America’s real economic wellbeing.
3. It won’t.
4. The Bush derangement will end, and the hatred will dissipate.
5. PDS is going to be so much more fun; turning misogyny into a virtue will look like exactly what it is.
6. The lefties are going to turn against their own leaders when they fail to execute on their ill-conceived plans for the country. The serious grown-ups in the Obama camp, and there are several, will not let him wreck the country in pursuit of some Chavez-esque social utopia.
There are so many more reasons to be cheerful, as Ian Dury would say, and if you want to leave any of your own in comments, I’d love to hear them!
She’s funny and can laugh at herself. In the rally in Ohio Sunday, she told Tina Fey to “Keep the Sarah outfit“.
Gotta love that. Remember, live chat tomorrow. It will be up most of the day and night.
I’ll be working over my coworkers again tomorrow. I think I convinced one more today by showing her the “your electric rates will sky rocket” clip. Do what you can. If we get our side to the polls, I think we win.
A 45 year pollster says it will be a McCain landslide because of the P.U.M.A.’s. Read this one first. Then read this one. They’re very interesting. Here’s hoping he’s right. I’d much rather get the P.U.M.A. factor than have to count on the Bradley effect.
Ok, we’ve passed the bailout. Can we stop getting along now and fight back? I’ll admit I’ve been a bit down lately due to the reality of the numbers. Typically these numbers are in concrete this late in the election. Typically, who ever pulls away in October wins. However, who can say this is a typical year. It’s anything but. No one knows anything about Obama other than he’s black and the messiah. It is time to start educating people on this guy as fast as we can.
Palin started Thursday with a very admirable debate run. I think she won it on style and drew it on points. Neither hurt the other, but what Palin did do was stem the bleeding. Now she’s out pointing out Obama’s shady past. Maybe, just maybe, the campaign can turn this around.
The bailout is over and the market will shake it. We can get on with other issues now and deal with the louts who did the bailout stuff to us later. We need to remind everyone that while Obama was sending secret letters to people about this problem, McCain actually submitted bills to stop it. He was shot down by the democrats. And contrary to the people trying to say otherwise, it WAS forcing banks to lend money to people who should never have had loans that caused it. That’s why it’s the SUBPRIME crisis and not the rich people going broke crisis.
Let’s go 527’s. Let’s get to Obama’s record in Illinois and his infant born alive views. Let’s get to the Chicgo Amherst Project where Obama was able to get very wealthy at the same time 150 million dollars “mysteriously” disappeared. No wonder he won’t release those records. These are the fun things. Let’s get to them.
Oil and gas are still our issues. Press them. Palin negotiated an international pipeline to deliver natural gas to the lower 48. She did so by crushing the American oil companies who were given sweetheart deals by her predecessor. She has balanced budgets, she has fought corruption. Obama embraces corruption. He embraces criminals. It’s time to expose him.
I started in church this morning when some congregants were discussing Tina Fey and her Palin protrayals. One remarked “it’s too be we can’t get Fey instead. She seems to be more intelligent than Palin.” To which I leaned in and said “and yet Palin is more qualified than Obama” and brought the discussion to a crashing halt.
Palin is more qualified than Obama. Let them know that. McCain is a million times more qualified than Obama. Shout it out. We have 4 weeks and our pity party is officially over. Time to get moving!
Usually the VP debate is nothing. It’s a sideshow. This year, it’s crucial for Sarah Palin to deliver a good performance. No more hockey mom. No more championship snowmachine rider. No more moose hunter. It’s all business and taking on Obama. Ignore Biden. He’s a clown. Obama needs to be hit and hit hard.
Go Sarahnator!
Sarah Palin won elective office for city council, mayor and governor. She took out a sitting governor and a former governor in her run for governor. She took down corruption and smacked the powerhouses around. She didn’t do that by being held back. She waded into the fray with a baseball bat and used it. Why haven’t we seen Sarah on the offense? Because her hands are tied by the McCain campaign. She has handlers that give her her speeches and talking points and keep her sheltered. This is a terrible decision and it has been very costly. Just as her popularity peaks and she lifts the campaign to a lead, the people in the campaign tied her up and shut her down. No interviews. No talking to the press. No unchauffeured stops. It’s like they actually think she is the lightweight that the press is painting her as. She’s not. She can more than hold her own and it’s time to get her going again.
Sarah Palin needs to be the attacker of the McCain team. She needs to be the Mrs. Hyde to the Senator’s Dr. Jekyll. She needs to be let loose and allowed to fire up the show. McCain can stop campaigning to help and be nice and bipartisan. Sarah Palin needs to start naming the names that the Senator refuses to. I understand that this is a choice of the campaign. He wants to take the high road. The problem is when he refuses to answer the charges, they stick. When they stick, he loses support to Obama. This has to change and fast. This bi-partisan make nice garbage is only going to get Obama elected.
The time has come to name the names Senator. You said you would in the convention, it is time to do so. The democrats are responsible for this banking mess. That needs to be said. Frank, Dodd, Kennedy, Clinton, Carter. It’s time to name them. Raines and Gorelick from Obama’s campaign. Name them.
The American public thinks the republicans are at fault for this when they are the only ones that have tried to fix it. How the heck has this happened? That answer is easy. While McCain tried to be nice, Obama tagged him over and over, day after day with “the republicans caused it and we’ll fix it”. He set the message and stayed on message. It could have been countered. Palin was out there. She could have gone on and refuted it. It would have helped her too. As opposed to being the disappearing VP candidate of late, she would have been seen in the spotlight and seen fighting Obama night after night on the news. Obama has been successful in his “I’m youth and McCain is a dinosaur” theme. Palin would have stopped that dead in its tracks. The people in the McCain camp who are responsible for such a poor use of a great asset should be fired.
So where are we now? The dems have the bailout and THEY are seen as taking the credit for fixing it. Of course it’s still an illusion. The cause of this mess, giving loans to “under served” neighborhoods, is still the law. THAT wasn’t changed. But for now, they have the “fix to the republicans mistake” and as long as McCain allows that message to stand, Obama can be seen with a live boy, girl and the corpse of Eddie Murphy’s transvestite prostitute and will still win.
Right now, this whole thing rides on Palin’s shoulders. She is more than up to the task. Palin needs to be unleashed. It needs to start tonight and not stop until election night.
Here’s my bumper so far. In all my life, I have never had a bumper sticker and now I have several with a couple more to be added later. Win or lose, they come off on election day. I will not keep my 2008 stickers on for the next x years like some I’ve seen.
Y’all remember the Palin/wassisface 2008.
The Hero/Zero and the cancelling your Obama vote are not on just yet.

The new ones: More experienced than Obama with a smiling Sarah Palin and the “War is not the answer” Gosh Wally, if only Al Queda, Hamas, Iran and suicide Bombers could read your little bumper sticker. That one will be a permanent fixture along with this one “I support War for Oil” on a yellow ribbon and this one with a smiling sun and the caption “Global warming for 4 billion years”
Think about that one. That one has no real downside. Palin is already being painted as a lightweight. If Obama loses to her, she moves up and he looks like a loser. If Obama wins, well, he was supposed to. It’s UM vs App State again. This time we would have nothing to lose.
I know, there’s no way, but hey, I can dream, right?
Look, I know there are a lot of people saying this is an ok move. However, unless some really good things happen, I don’t think this gets him anything. If it works, it’s forgotten in a day. If it doesn’t, he’s finished.
I think he’s starting to figure out that it’s not going to work and I have a feeling that he will be at that debate tomorrow. It’s just a matter of saving face to get there. There’s no way he can let Obama have 90 minutes in front of 100 million people with unchallenged softballs thrown his way. If he can’t be there, Palin must be. After all, she is supposed to be able to be president, right? McCain cannot let Obama have that time unchallenged or this will not be a forgotten stunt, it will be the end of the campaign.
There are some really cool posts at various Hillary Clinton supporting sites. The Anchoress at Pagan Power has a great post on President Clinton speaking very glowingly about Palin and McCain on the Maria Bartiromo show. President Clinton is definitely not towing the party line here. It makes me wonder what he’s up to.
Here are the videos:
From the very reasonable people at the hillaryclintonforum.net comes this article. SamKm has a link to a story of an Israeli filmmaker followed Sarah Palin around for a few days while she was governor. This was before she became VP nominee Palin, roughly sometime in June. He said that Governor Palin never asked him to stop filming or tried to hide anything. She was a “what you see is what you get” person. He was highly impressed. People are asking him for video clips left and right. He has requested to be allowed to follow her during this election too. I think it would be good. Here’s his story.
Another from SamKm at the HCF, Governor Sarah Palin drew 60,000 people at a rally in Florida. Wow. That’s a lot of people for a VP rally. The actual number is in question. As low as 25000 or up to 70000 depending on who you ask. This paper said 60k and I’ll stick with that.
I wonder just how many former Hillary supporters have moved to McCain. Palin was a big draw for some initially, but I wonder how many supporters of Senator Clinton could really pull the lever for a republican. I know McCain is more moderate than a lot and less intimidating than a lot of republicans, but he is still a republican nevertheless. How many he pulls from Senator Obama is going to determine the election, IMHO. It’s going to be interesting.
