Jimmy Carter loves thugs and dictators. If you regularly violate human rights and torture, murder, maim, imprison or otherwise destroy ordinary people then by all means, President Carter is your friend. He decides that since Hamas is so good at this, he would go chat with them to see how he can help them feel good about themselves.
Now, I really haven’t seen much of this in the news about Carter’s trip to see Hamas and it really isn’t surprising that the news media is ignoring it. Here’s why: Earlier this week, Carter defended his trip to see Hamas. He said he failed to convince them to stop shelling Hamas for a month. Note, not stop shelling period, no, just for a month. So it’s ok to kill Jews, as long as you wait a month? Is that it Mr. Carter?
So when Carter got there, they negotiate and agree to peace for 10 years as long as Israel agrees to the pre-war borders. Carter comes out and announces a big win. However, during the very next meeting, Hamas launches the biggest attack in about 5 years. Killing 3 soldiers and hurting a child. They did this is during the meeting, while Carter is sitting there with the top terrorist. He was totally oblivious to what is happening. Hamas then comes out and contradicts everything Carter said after the first meeting.
That’s not the worst of Carter’s woes. Hamas, as you know, is a puppet of Iran. What do you think led the Iranian news (and news stations all through the Middle East) that night. Carter, shaking hands with Mr. Hamas-boss super-imposed with the details of the new attack. Carter was used. He was pulled off the roll, used to wipe and then flushed. Carter, by virtue of being an ex pres, has credibility. When he is seen with a group like Hamas, he gives them legitimacy. He gives them the pictures they need to coerce people. “The U.S. is on OUR side, you better obey or you’ll disappear with their blessings”. Carter either didn’t realize this or he didn’t care. The State Dept has a study that shows that terrorist groups like to launch their biggest attacks while “negotiating” for peace. It was standard operating procedure here and Carter swallowed it hook, line and sinker. Carter was reduced to a stammering “I did my best, yada yada yada…” and looks like a complete fool.
So, why do I say thank you to him? Why has the news media pretty much ignored this? Simple. Barack Obama says he wants to negotiate with Hamas. He says he’ll meet with them without pre-conditions. Thank you Jimmy Carter. You just showed us what the real world does to a hippie fantasy. We can now point at your abject failure to show what a failure Obama WILL be. His biggest foreign policy plank, meet with people that we used to refuse to meet with, is now toast. Every time he suggests it, we can hang Carter around his neck and sink him. This hippie “sing cumbaya and talk” junk does not work with thugs. We knew that. Now, more people will know it too. We just need to keep reminding them. So thank you President Carter. You showed what a fool you are, and by extension, what a fool Obama is.
This one’s been a long time coming. Damn, this is good news! Imad Mughniyeh is one hell of a big ugly fish, and I’m only sorry that he didn’t die a more slow, painful death. Let him suffer the worst pits of hell for each of his victims.
BEIRUT, Lebanon — Imad Mughniyeh, the suspected mastermind of dramatic attacks on the U.S. Embassy and U.S. Marine barracks that killed hundreds of Americans in Lebanon in the 1980s, has died in a car bomb in Syria, Iranian state media and a Syrian rights group said Wednesday.
The Islamic militant group Hezbollah and its Iranian backers blamed Israel for the killing. Israel denied involvement.
Hezbollah did not say how or where Mughniyeh was killed. But Iranian state television and the National Organization for Human Rights in Syria said he died in a car bombing in the Syrian capital Damascus on Tuesday night.
Hezbollah’s announcement of the death came a few hours after a late night explosion in Damascus destroyed a vehicle. Witnesses in the Syrian capital said at the time that a passerby was killed as security forces sealed off the area and removed the body. But authorities there would not give details.
“Blamed Israel.” Typical. I pray it was Israel getting justice for their victims of his pure evil.
Don’t remember this particular specimen of Islamotard terrorist? I know you’ll recognize this sociopath’s work.
[I]n September 1999, Argentinian authorities issued an arrest warrant for Imad Fayez Mughniyeh (alias ‘Hajji’), a top Hizbullah security official in the 1980s and alleged leader of a sub-group called Islamic Jihad, in connection with the 1992 embassy bombing. He was later indicted for the AMIA atrocity as well.
Mughniyeh, a Lebanese Shi‘a Muslim, was indicted by the US in 1985 for the hijacking of a TWA airliner in which a US Navy diver was killed. He is also suspected of being behind a whole host of other attacks in the 1980s, including the kidnapping and murder of CIA station chief William Buckley in Beirut in 1984, as well as suicide bombings of the US embassy and a US marine barracks in which some 300 people perished. Mughniyeh and some of his associates were named in the FBI’s ‘Most Wanted’ list after the events of 11 September. His present whereabouts are unknown, although he is said to have undergone extensive plastic surgery to disguise his appearance.
Additionally, Bill Roggio wrote at the Counterterrorism Blog during the 2006 war in Lebanon about Mughniyeh:
At the outbreak of war between Israel and Hezbollah, I reported Imad Fayez Mugniyah, Hezbollah’s military commander, was likely behind the operation to snatch the Israeli soldiers, and documented Hezbollah and Mugniyah’s links to Iran and historical involvement in international terrorism. Dr. Magnus Ranstorp explained Hezbollah’s command structure and decision making processes, Mugniyah’s likely involvement with the capture of the Israeli soldiers and Hezbollah’s links to Iran and Hamas.
On Saturday, the Jerusalem Post reported on Mugniyah’s involvement in the current conflict and his past history with Fatah and in Hezbollah. Mugniyah is fingered as the likely operative “behind the abduction of the two IDF soldiers on July 12″ as well as “in charge of Hizbullah’s rocket unit in south Lebanon.”
And that’s not all. Fausta mentions his activities in Argentina:
Mughniyeh is also believed to have been behind the 1992 bombing of Israel’s embassy in Argentina in which 29 people were killed, and the blast at a Buenos Aires Jewish center two years later that killed 95.
Recently Argentina has been investigating the 1994 explosion, which is the largest terrorist attack ever staged in Latin America against a Jewish group.
This piece of shit was one of the mere handful of worst of the worst. Twenty-five years we’ve been waiting for this scumbag to get put down. Twenty-five years. I remember those days of terrorism in Beirut like it was just yesterday–after the Iranian hostage crisis in 1979, that period probably had the greatest impact of all on my overall view of the world geopolitics–even more than the Cold War. Imad Mughniyeh is essentially Osama bin Laden without the recruiting tool of the internets; his activity was likely an inspiration to Bin Laden himself, not to mention countless other terrorists. His death comes 25 years too late for the lives lost, but finally, he’s dead.
More about Imad Fayez Mugniyeh from:
* Counterterrorism expert Dan Darling (from 2006)
* Counterterrorism Blog
* DEBKA; also note that they tie Mughniyeh to Moqtada al-Sadr’s war on Americans in Iraq, as do terrorism analysts Jonathan Schanzer and Dan Darling.

I’ve got a whole lot more confidence that the Israelis know what Iran is up to than the idiots in Washington DC.
And the Israelis are calling yesterday’s bizarre NIE a steaming pile of nonsense (the same NIE which in 2005 said that Iran was busying herself making nukes, but now says they quit two years prior to that. So the NIE was wrong then and right now, or right then and wrong now? How can we have any confidence in it?).
“We have a lot of very clear and solid intelligence, that to my best understanding, clearly shows that the Iranians are developing nuclear weapons today, as they did two years ago. This is not a matter of speculation, but this is about solid intelligence.”
I have a basic rule that I apply to matters of military practice, dealing with terrorists, security policies and the like:
When in doubt, go with the Israelis.
“The Americans apparently came to their conclusions on the basis of human intelligence,” he said, mentioning Gen. Ali Reza Asghari, a former Iranian deputy defense minister who defected to the West in February.
For those who would base their assessment of a WMD threat on the say-so of one person I have two words: Ahmed Chalabi.
Hugo and Mahmoud, the incredible dancing clowns, met in Tehran today, to whack each other off over their infantile blame-America-for-everything rhetoric.
Ahmadinejad claimed OPEC’s member countries want to convert their cash reserves into a currency other than the depreciating U.S. dollar, which he called a “worthless piece of paper.”
Worthless? Really? Because I don’t recall any stories of the Chinese buying Iranian Rials. So maybe it’s not quite that worthless.
Chavez said the dollar was in free-fall and that its “empire” must end, and proposed trading oil in a basket of currencies excluding the dollar.
But the two were unable to generate support from enough in the 13-member cartel — many of whom, including Saudi Arabia, are staunch U.S. allies.
And most of whom would like to keep their nation prosperous, and not an impoverished medieval hell-hole.

Content warning: Graphic violence. Not like you didn’t already know.
Linda S. Heard, a ’specialist writer’ on middle east affairs, unburdens herself on the pages of Gulf News, with her opus “Giuliani is Mideast’s worst nightmare”.
This woman’s paranoid leftard bilge is so self-evidently idiotic that it’s almost beyond satire. I could have been reading The Onion.
As the months pass, the next election looks like a race between Democrat Hillary Clinton and the former mayor of New York Rudy Giuliani for the Republicans. I’m no fan of the coolly calculating Clinton but given the alternative, she’s the one I’ll be rooting for.
At the same time, I have serious doubts as to whether certain American states are ready for a woman president and although the American voters have shown they’re fed up with Republicans they may reluctantly settle for the usual middle-aged white man over a former First Lady, no matter how bright and formidable she may be.
Note the standard lefty disclaimer that she doesn’t like Hillary (lefties always retain the position that nobody is liberal enough; that way when Hillary doesn’t nationalize grocery stores they can ‘march’, bang pots and complain that she’s in the pocket of Big Retail). And I wonder which states she might be thinking aren’t ready for a woman President…..possibly the RED ones? You know, the ones where Margaret Thatcher is fondly-remembered, widely-revered and heroine-worshiped?
Still, on to the case against Giuliani.
A clue to Giuliani’s leanings emerged during the visit of Prince Al Walid Bin Talal to Ground Zero in October 2001. Bearing a $10 million donation for disaster relief, the Saudi prince suggested the US reexamine its Middle East policies and adopt a balanced stance towards Palestinian aspirations. Giuliani’s response was to hand back the cheque.
Yeah. How awful. Giuliani refused to accept the implication that the 19 Saudi nationals who had just slaughtered 3,000 Americans were driven to it by our Middle East policies. What a heel.
Giuliani makes no bones about the fact he would use military force to set-back Iran’s nuclear programme. In September, he promised to use America’s military might to prevent Iran pursuing its nuclear ambitions should he be elected president.
She doesn’t even attempt to deny that Iran is developing nuclear weapons, which presumably is of no concern. What she dislikes is Giuliani stating clearly that he’ll prevent the suicidal psychopathic rogue state from obtaining weapons that could be used to attack the United States or our allies. One of whom, Israel (who she obviously hates; it’s on the lefty must-do list), Iran has repeatedly and explicitly stated should be ‘wiped off the map’.
It’s also worth recalling that in 1995, he banned the former Palestinian president Yasser Arafat from attending events held in New York to celebrate the UN’s 50th anniversary and ordered his removal from a concert held at the Lincoln Centre. It’s not surprising that a panel of eight Israeli experts assembled by the daily Ha’aretz determined Giuliani is the best presidential candidate for Israel.
Ahh yes, he banned the ‘former Palestinian president’ Yasser Arafat from attending events held in New York. That would be the same Yasser Arafat that wanted to address the UN wearing a sidearm, who repeatedly funded and supported deadly terror attacks against Israel, who sponsored kidnapping, torture and murder of Israeli military personnel, who embezzled hundreds of millions of dollars in aid intended to assist the poor souls living under his corrupt and brutal reign, etc, etc, etc. It’s shame that nobody has the balls to ban Ahmadinejad and Chavez from entering.
A Giuliani presidential tenure would also be extremely bad news for Americans who value the few civil liberties they have left. He strongly backs the controversial Patriot Act; is an advocate for wire-tapping and domestic spying, and isn’t sure whether “water-boarding” or sleep deprivation should be considered as “torture”.
Where do you start? Which civil liberties is she referring to? Those of possible Al Qaeda operatives? And when did Giuliani state he supported ‘domestic spying’? That is simply unsubstantiated nonsense.
As things stand, Clinton holds a small tenuous lead over Giuliani in the polls overall. But in some of the states that count, such as Florida, the latter is ahead. Giuliani is also grabbing a large chunk of the evangelical vote despite his penchant for divorcing his wives for girlfriends.
No mention of Mrs. Clinton’s penchant for staying with a husband who used the Oval Office as a knocking-shop for servicing the White House interns.
But, she saves the best ’til last:
These already dangerous times are becoming even more dangerous. It’s a pity that Nobel Peace Prize recipient Al Gore has refused to put his crusade against climate change on hold to join the fray and perhaps even save the day.
No further comment needed.
To the Islamofascists, children are simply tools to be deployed in their ideological and terror war against us.
Here’s a wonderful picture of some Iranian kids at traffic cop school.
It’s truly heartwarming.
The warm and cuddly Iranians were at it again today, calling for the destruction of Israel.
Tens of thousands of Iranians marched through Tehran on Friday proclaiming solidarity with Palestinians and chanting “Death to Israel” in the Islamic republic’s annual protest against the Jewish state.
Iranians of all ages began the march through the centre of the capital to Tehran University to mark Quds Day, calling for Jerusalem and Israel to be handed to the Palestinians.
Coloured bibs were handed out to protestors with the legend “Death to Israel, Death to United States” while “Palestine will only be free with fighting and faith” was the slogan on one banner.
When a nation decides it wants to destroy another nation, what is left to talk about? Luckily AFP was on hand to put this lunacy into some perspective:
Despite the heavily politicised nature of the demonstration, there was a festive mood with the numerous children present having their faces painted as cats and rabbits in entertainment laid on by the municipality.
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad declared there are no homosexuals in Iran when he was invited to speak to the effete elite at Columbia University.
He had them at ‘I hate America and there was no holocaust!’ but lost them at the ‘We don’t have homosexuals’.
Now they are falling all over themselves to explain what the meaning of ‘is’ is …. I mean what he really meant by saying there are no homosexuals in Iran. It turns out that its academically respectable! HEH!
I wonder how the trolls at Sadly, Simpleminded! feel about ‘academically respectable’. They didn’t like Dan Rather’s ‘fake but accurate’ at all. Well, they liked Dan Rather’s ‘fake but accurate’ but didn’t like a conservative depicting anything as ‘fake but accurate‘. Its all about what the meaning of ‘is’ is. See?
To understand the logic you have to twist things around every which away and then twist it back and over the top and then you might have some clue as to how their minds work. But probably not.
The thing is, it puts them in a bind when they have to hate someone who hates America and Israel. It just goes against what they believe in so they have to come up with some sort of justification for his words and actions to keep their own ideologies in tact. How can they hate Mahmoud for hating homosexuals when he hates America and Jews so much! He’s like …. well …. he’s like a mini-little-hairy-hitler!
Self-loathing is a sad sight to see, really it is.
Well, at least the comics at Saturday Night Live found humor in the whole thing. They did up a right nice video spoofing Mahmoud as having found love - of the homosexual variety - while he was in New York.
See the video here. Its HILARIOUS!!

Notably absent from American mainstream media coverage:
“During the questions we made eye contact, we looked at each other more than once. The look on his face changed the moment he realized who was facing him and what I wanted from him,” Karnit Goldwasser, wife of kidnapped soldier Ehud Goldwasser, said after her meeting with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in New York.
Goldwasser managed to enter Ahmadinejad’s press conference at the United Nations building in New York on Tuesday, and told Ynet that the she was surprised by the treatment the Iranian leader received upon his arrival.
“He came in and started to smile at everyone. The reporters gave him great respect… As he walked by me he said hi to me, because he still didn’t know who I was. He thought I was one of the supporting journalists, and that he was walking into a place where everyone loved him. He seemed very pleased,” Goldwasser recounted.
Goldwasser said she was not afraid to present the president with her question, and asked him, “Hello, my name is Karnit, the wife of Ehud Goldwasser, the soldier who has been held captive for over a year. Since you are the man that is behind the kidnapping due to the aid you grant Hizbullah, why don’t you allow the Red Cross to visit the two soldiers?” she asked.
The president ignored the question.
Of course he ignored her. Jews/Israelis are non-persons to him.
And with that, she was tossed out.
Want to see how effective Lee Bollinger’s supposed plan to expose Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as a “petty and cruel dictator” went? The Iranian state news agency reported on Ahmadinejad’s speech — and they apparently never heard of Lee Bollinger.
Captain Ed has the full IRNA article, and it’s so absurd it’s actually funny.
If you’ve somehow missed it, here’s Bollinger addressing Ahmadinejad (in two parts).
Good for Lee Bollinger. As I said before, well done.
UPDATE: They may black out Bollinger, but they love the LA Times!
“President Ahmadinejad has transcended national and religious divides to become a hero across the Middle East,” the Los Angeles Times said in an article published on Monday.
The articles points to the president’s popularity among Muslims who believe that their leaders are too beholden to or frightened of the Bush administration.
I think I might have to pass on checking the New York Times in the morning. You guys can have at it.

Ahmadinejad’s “answer” to the question about homosexuality in Iran: “We don’t have this problem in Iran.”
Of course they don’t.

Also, women are respected in Iran. Right. Further, they (Ahmadinejad and the mullahs) “propose more humane methods of establishing peace.” (No thanks.)
Notably, there was plenty of applause from the brilliant Ivy-Leaguers during his idiotic blather, except after his denial of homosexuality in Iran. They’re so open-minded their brains fell out! (VIDEO at Hot Air of the “no gays” nonsense.)
Credit where it’s due: Lee Bollinger didn’t softball it. (VIDEO at Hot Air.) Well done. Not that Ahmadinejad would answer anything coherently or honestly, but still, duly noted. I’m still not sure why anyone expected to hear anything but lies and propaganda during this silly event.
Credit where it’s not due: ROTC is still not allowed at Columbia, but Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is.
I’m never surprised by what my school Columbia University will do or say, not even when they’ll invite men like Ahmadinejad to speak but will refuse people like Ann Coulter or members of the United States military.
