This is ridiculous.
Prosecutors asked that the Paris court hand the 73-year-old former sex symbol a two-month suspended prison sentence and fine her 15,000 euros ($23,760) for saying the Muslim community was “destroying our country and imposing its acts.”
Stupid Fwance. Those people consider themselves “liberal?” This is where we’re headed here, y’all, if the libs have their way. Criminalization of politically incorrect thought.
She has been fined four times for inciting racial hatred since 1997, at first 1,500 euros and most recently 5,000.
Prosecutor Anne de Fontette told the court she was seeking a tougher sentence than usual, adding: “I am a little tired of prosecuting Mrs Bardot.”
Tell me, what’s so inflammatory about what Bardot said? And how is that inciting “RACIAL hatred?” What race is a Muslim?
“I am fed up with being under the thumb of this population which is destroying us, destroying our country and imposing its acts,” the star of ‘And God created woman’ and ‘Contempt’ said.
Bardot has previously said France is being invaded by sheep-slaughtering Muslims and published a book attacking gays, immigrants and the unemployed, in which she also lamented the “Islamisation of France”.
Good thing Orianna Fallaci, Pim Fortuyn, Theo Van Gogh, Geert Wilders, etc. weren’t/aren’t from France. For that matter, I can imagine Pope Benedict XVI being prosecuted in France, if they’re that repressive.
This bit in Time is amazing:
…in 2004, another Bardot book, A Cry In the Silence
, again took up the question of immigration and Islam — ultimately running afoul of anti-racism laws by generally associating Islam with the 9/11 terror attacks, and denouncing the “Islamization of France” by people she described as “invaders”.
O RLY? Mon dieu. Look, I get the European fear of racism and extremism, considering the history. But really, they’ve just exchanged one form of totalitarianism–the Nazis–with another, with this criminalization of free thought. This is why they end up with nasty neo-fascist groups and parties in Europe; it’s an overreaction to this absurd moral relativism and obsession with “political correctness.” Prosecuting a 71 year-old cultural icon for speaking her mind isn’t gonna help.
Nice to know Italy isn’t falling down this shithole of leftist intolerance, anyway.

To: The Dutch Government
WHEREAS Geert Wilders has exercised his fundamental human right of freedom of expression and spoken out, with facts and evidence, of the threat posed by radical Islam;
WHEREAS certain elements within Islamic communities have threatened a boycott of Dutch goods if Geert Wilders is not punished by the Dutch government for exercising his freedom of expression; and
WHEREAS certain elements in Dutch industry and the Dutch government are suggesting that Geert Wilders be prosecuted civilly or criminally, in order to prevent such a boycott;
IT IS RESOLVED that, in the event that the Dutch government attempts, in any way, to punish or prosecute Geert Wilders, civilly or criminally, for exercising his freedom of expression, the undersigned will initiate a boycott of any and all Dutch goods.

Meanwhile, Fitna IS back up at LiveLeak. Three cheers to LiveLeak for reversing their decision to kill it!
AMSTERDAM, March 23 (Reuters) - A U.S.-based web service, which Islam critic and Dutch right-wing lawmaker Geert Wilders planned to use to show his film critical of the Koran, said on Saturday that it had inactivated the site due to complaints.
“This site has been suspended while Network Solutions is investigating whether the site’s content is in violation of the Network Solutions Acceptable Use Policy,” the company said on the site www.fitnathemovie.com
Wilders, who has given few details about his 15-minute film, has said he plans to release ‘Fitna’ on the Internet before the end of the month after Dutch broadcasters declined to show it. Fitna is a Koranic term sometimes translated as “strife”.
Mac’s Mind has organized a blogburst–here’s what you need to do:

Bloggers who want this important movie on the truth of Islam to go forward make sure you continue the blogburst.
I’m in…are you? You don’t need a blog to pick up the phone and/or send an email.
Question: You think Network Coward Solutions would take down a site hosting a film critical of Christianity? (Obvious answer: Almost certainly not.)
Muslims Against Sharia neither endorse nor condemn “Fitna”; we have not seen the film. However, we find it disturbing that Network Solution suspended “Fitna” website while hosting a multitude of radical Islamic websites, some of which belong to (or are closely affiliated with) terrorist groups.
Exactly.

And countless other limousine liberals to boot?
A major airline is under fire from environmentalists for flying an aircraft across the Atlantic with only five passengers on board.
Paying passengers, who had booked a flight to London from Chicago, and Friends of Those Who Want to End Capitalism on Earth™ thinks American should have bumped them.
While it was able to find places for nearly all the passengers on the fully-booked flight, five still had to be accommodated. Those who did fly were upgraded to the business class cabin.
But while they enjoyed lavish hospitality, the airline was accused of an “obscene waste of fuel” by Friends of the Earth.
Where to start? I’ve flown Business on American, and lavish it is not (It’s very nice, and far better than Cattle Class™, but lavish is a significant exaggeration).
Where are these statements when Hollywood jets around the globe in planes with nobody in them but the ’star’ and their flunkeys?
It turns out that these leftard enviroclowns have, as usual, misunderstood the whole two-way-street model that the airline industry operates upon, forgetting that when the plane gets to Heathrow, some more passengers get on and fly back to America.
“With such a small passenger load we did consider whether we could cancel the flight and re-accommodate the five remaining passengers on other flights.
“However, this would have left a plane load of west-bound passengers stranded in London Heathrow who were due to fly back to the US on the same aircraft.
“We sought alternative flights for the west-bound passengers but heavy loads out of London that day meant that this was not possible.”
Retards.
Back in November, I posted a bit of satire about a website, Who Would the World Elect, which invited people from all over the world to express their opinion on who should be the next president of the United States. It was a good idea, and while the results would be completely unimportant, they might have been interesting, except the paultards discovered it and spammed it all to hell.
Now, The Urban Grind Blog tells us about uber-liberal euro-weenies who have taken the concept to heart and demand the right to vote in US elections:
American presidential elections are not “home affairs.” American decisions have repercussions all over the globe. The American mortgage crisis affects banks in Europe. The insatiable American demand for oil makes the Arabian sheiks rich. The American refusal to care for the environment causes the North Pole ice to melt and coastal areas in Asia to flood. A weakened dollar and an immense budget deficit affect the global economy.
Hence, the world should be given the right to vote. Because the current situation is a blatant case of taxation without representation, against which the Americans rebelled in 1776. But of course the world will not be allowed to vote. The best we can hope for is that the Americans choose a leader who is deeply aware of the U.S.’s responsibility, as a superpower, for the rest of mankind.
I might comment about this, if I could stop laughing long enough to do so.
Maybe later.
