Life, the universe and everything

Life has a way of throwing stuff at you that you never see coming. You could see it, if you were looking for it or even paying attention, but, you’re not, and it hits you upside the head. I have been neglecting my family for stuff like Facebook and blogs. I have to stop and that begins now.

I have enjoyed posting here at Beth’s Vast Right Wing Conspiracy and I will from time to time, put up some things. But it will be very light for me. I am starting a journey back to my family and life and it starts with this. I hope it’s not too late. Please keep me and my family in your prayers.

Earlier I cleared out my facebook. That is going on hiatus too. The internet is fun, but if you get too caught up in it, you wind up missing out on the real and the fun or you wind up having everything slip away without even noticing. If it seems like I am rambling, I am. But that’s the state I am in. The depth of how badly I’ve messed up is hitting me and it’s not pretty.

Y’all are in good hands with LordBiteMeMan and Martin. And I will put up occasionally, but for now, it’s time to stand down. God bless and God speed to all of you.

I’ve Got a Confession to Make. . .

Hello everyone, there’s something you all should know. Apparently Beth didn’t do a lot of screening when she offered to let me write for this blog. Perhaps if she had, she would have learned something about me. People, I’m really a Democrat, a fairly liberal one. You guys probably got that impression from my comments on various subjects. All the same, it cannot be denied. Please accept my apologies for the ruse. Regrettably, this means I can no longer, in good conscience, write here. I will have fond memories of you all. Loved the AI live blogging. For those of you who are interested, I will start writing for the Daily Kos under the same name. Oh, and I’ll try and keep my fellow Kossacks from being too mean to you all when you comment. Other than that, I think this is good bye. Looking forward to the next 8 years. Sayanara all.

Buy a Gun Day 2009

(No, I’m not back - I’m just posting this and will be around in comments occasionally.)

April 15th is Buy a Gun Day and now there’s a website to go with it! Aaron describes BAG Day for the uninitiated:

Buy A Gun Day was conceived by me in 2003. There had been earlier attempts, but none responded to the liberal festival of forcible asset seizure into one of our own.

The goal is to get out the word and encourage not-yet-owners to at least become better informed and owners to make an effort to recruit those who may be standing on the fence or to move from the opposition to the ranks of the uncertain.

That the blogosphere enables us to coordinate the seventh Buy A Gun Day in 2009 while I live in the shadow of the Hollywood sign only makes the results of my effort sweeter.

In 2003, 54 blogs promoted the first “BAG Day“. The annual effort grew to over 200 blogs with the promotion by Kim du Toit, Free Republic, Instapundit and Hugh Hewitt. The date was also adopted by both the Liberty Belles and Moorewatch.

The United States Bill of Rights was ratified on December 15, 1791, my wife’s birthday (the month and day, that is, not the year!). I find that auspicious. Let’s work together to break at least 218 sites commemorating Buy A Gun Day this year, to highlight the 218 years of the Second Amendment.

While April 15 is of particular meaning in the United States, given the way the government plans to vastly increase our tax burdens, and those of our children and grandchildren, there is no reason whatsoever to limit your purchase to April 15!

Stealing a line from Chris Muir at DayByDayCartoon.com, I welcome you to the crass capitalism section of tonights blog. A month or so back, I created a cafepress store and now I have finally begun to populate it. I have bumper stickers, magnets, shirts, cups, etc. Here are my first 3 products.

For now, I’ve decided to follow the model set by Barack Obama at his website, and how the Obama campaign deals with critics.

Your comments will be deleted if they are deemed by me as insulting in any way. “Insulting”‘ includes “stupid,” too - if your comment is stupid, it’s gone. Also, insults phrased “politely” and concern trolls are fair game. Exception: really stupid stuff will stay for our entertainment.

Don’t like it? Sorry (not really!), but consistency would be nice. Complain to teh Obamessiah about his practices - I’m just following his example, except at least I don’t automatically ban people. :P

I’m probably only back here for a few days and then I’ll be back to real life again - although we’ll just have to see. But at least while I’m here, trolls will be relentlessly exterminated. This election season has seen enough hateful crap on teh internets (and elsewhere), and all of it is pointless.

Suck it up, Greg and other Obamabots — the others might be nice and approve your drivel while I’m away, but when I’m here, you can forget it.
