John McCain, where is your honor?

This is the first in a series of blog posts that deal with the election and the aftermath. A couple are not nice to Senator McCain and this is one of them. Beth is going to hate me for this post. I have been seething for 6 weeks or so but now it has come full out. I can’t hold back any longer so here goes. Can you believe that McCain’s people are pawing through Palin’s clothes to make sure she or her family are not taking anything the campaign bought? WTF? Seriously, WTMF? This is the last straw.
Senator McCain, the treatment the Sarah Palin has received and is still receiving for the sin of accepting your invite to be the VP is a disgrace and it lies squarely at your feet.
When you announced Palin, everyone knew it was a brilliant move. So did the democrats. In their war room, their own focus groups were saying things like “Sarah Palin is one of us” or “She can help John McCain shake up Washington”. They were worried. And rightly so. They then went on the rampage savaging her left and right and you said NOTHING. What’s worse is you said NOTHING and forbade her from doing so as well. When they called her every name in the book, you said NOTHING. When they passed the story of Trig being the daughter’s baby, you said NOTHING. When you pulled that stupid stunt (and I was right, it was a stunt, read the article) and started to tank, your people savaged her. When they blamed Palin for your losses, even though she was packing them in every where she went, you said NOTHING.
Now, Senator, they are saying things that are so far beyond the pale that they are obvious lies and you still say NOTHING. You say to blame you for the loss. Guess what? Most people with a brain do! It’s not Palin that refused to fight, It was you. It’s not Palin who sucked in 2 of 3 debates, it was you. It’s not Palin who railed against a couple million in earmarks while signing onto the biggest boondoggle in US history, that was YOU. Now you sit idly by while a dedicated servant of the people, one who put her life on hold for you, gets savaged by your people and you say NOTHING.
Senator McCain, you had a chance to stop this crap the day before the election and you said NOTHING. You had the chance to put a stop to it on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday and you said NOTHING. You went on Leno and he gave you an open shot to stop it and when asked, YOU SAID NOTHING! Worse, you tried to dismiss it! In my eyes, you are now lower than dirt. I never really liked you before but I bit my tongue and grudgingly supported you. Now I am ashamed of that support and not because you lost but because of what you are allowing now. One word from you would stop this and you say nothing. So much for honor. So much for dignity.
This is how you treat your friends? This is how you treat those who went through hell for you? This is how you treat the woman who had her life turned completely upsidef’ingdown FOR YOU? She went through all that for YOU senator. This is how you pay her back? You have no honor. You are lucky Todd does.
But even in this, there is one small silver lining. Had you been victorious, we are seeing first hand how you would have treated Sarah and the other conservatives. Sarah will be back in 4 years, hopefully you won’t be.

That actually wasn’t a big story. It may have been in the blogosphere, but outside of it? It was looked at as the rantings of lunatics, if it was noted at all. So, if he even knew of the story (which is debatable), he shouldn’t have dignified it with a response at all.
Honestly I really wish he’d say something too, but as usual, the blogosphere & media pundits are waaaay more heated up about it than anyone else (in the real world) is - including Sarah Palin, it seems. She’s a big girl, and if she wanted to rip into someone about it, she would. Yeah, whoever said that stupid shit should never see work in politics again, but those lies have been debunked anyway.
To be honest, I’m way more irritated with all the damn hand-wringing and navel-gazing going on around the internets, all the blaming for the loss, all that shit. If people would spend even 2% of that wasted bandwidth on trying to HANG ON TO ONE FREAKING SENATE SEAT (Saxby Chambliss), I might give all that shit a little credence. All this bullshit talk from everyone about “no more RINOs” and how McCain isn’t “one of us” is bullshit, if they aren’t even willing to try to help ONE GUY - a conservative! - hang on to his seat and save us from getting steamrolled by the Dems for the next two years. It’s Saxby or Die time now, and everyone wants to cry about “RINOs” instead of actually DOING SOMETHING.
And get this - John McCain (the “RINO,” as everyone says) is campaigning for him! So I wonder, who are the real RINOs? John McCain, or all these selfish blowhard bloggers and pundits who whine about the GOP not being conservative enough? Fuck ‘em.
As I type this, that backstabbing SOB (conservative!) Rick Santorum is bleating about the GOP not being conservative enough on FNC. Just like a damn blogger - all talk, no action.
See why I don’t bother with this shit any more?

yeah, I’ll try to control my anger in the future boss! I have one more post of reasons for defeat but the biggest 2 are the meltdown and Mcains’s handling of it and W Bush. W’s approval ratings and the fact that he “checked out” 2 plus years ago hurt all republicans this year.
Still, Obama has been P_elect for a week and has already had to apologize to Nancy Reagan, the president of Poland and made France and Israel freak out and violated the trust of a private conversation. If this holds up, he may be taken out in the primaries next time by Hillary!

In 2012, John McCain will be too old to do much of anything by then. He will be 76 by that time if he manages to live that long. Else he’s probably headed for retirement reliving his glory years in the Senate not unlike South Carolina Senator, Centenarian Strom Thurmond.

I don’t know why you would be the least bit surprised about John McCain’s lack of honor an integrity. McCain gave solid proof that he would say or do anything to get elected, when in 2000 he labeled Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson as “agents of intolerance”….and “are corrupting influences on religion and politics, and those who practice them in the name of religion or in the name of the Republican Party or in the name of America shame our faith, our party and our country.” Then, in 2006, he panders to Falwell and Robertson for their support in 2008.
So, who knows who the real John McCain is, and what he actually stands for? Was what he said in 2000 his real opinion or 2006 his real opinion, or does he just say anything that he perceives will accrue politically well for his election chances regardless of what his true feelings are on the subject?
John McCain did an amazing job of shredding his own integrity and honor in the name of political expediency and lust for power. It was a shameful display.
