Maybe Sarah Palin could take his place in the debate?

Think about that one. That one has no real downside. Palin is already being painted as a lightweight. If Obama loses to her, she moves up and he looks like a loser. If Obama wins, well, he was supposed to. It’s UM vs App State again. This time we would have nothing to lose.

I know, there’s no way, but hey, I can dream, right?

Look, I know there are a lot of people saying this is an ok move. However, unless some really good things happen, I don’t think this gets him anything. If it works, it’s forgotten in a day. If it doesn’t, he’s finished.

I think he’s starting to figure out that it’s not going to work and I have a feeling that he will be at that debate tomorrow. It’s just a matter of saving face to get there. There’s no way he can let Obama have 90 minutes in front of 100 million people with unchallenged softballs thrown his way. If he can’t be there, Palin must be. After all, she is supposed to be able to be president, right? McCain cannot let Obama have that time unchallenged or this will not be a forgotten stunt, it will be the end of the campaign.

If McCain is still on the Senate floor, doing his duty,
While Obama is on the debate stage, alone, promoting himself.
    or
    While Obama debates Palin.

    McCain Wins.

If the Congress has not finished dealing with the financial crisis, then the Friday debate between Obama and McCain needs to take place —
ON THE FLOOR OF THE US SENATE.

If the issue is framed as McCain attempting to reach out to Obama in a gracious and non-partisan way, and Obama uses it as an attempt to win the upper hand, then this is a disaster for Obama. You really think the voters would go for an unknown with little experience thumbing his nose at someone with the gravitas and respect that McCain has earned? Obama stands to look like a partisan hack and worse. This is chess, gentlemen, not checkers. Let Obama crow now, and watch what will happen to him in a month and a half…

Obama v. Palin reminds me that when I was in high school circa 1979, one of our wrestlers had to wrestle a girl from another school.

It’s a no-win situation for Obama. If he loses, he loses big. If he wins… well he was supposed to.

Tactical key is to hold off on suggesting Palin until the last moment so the MSM can’t spin it.
