Biden: plagiarist and liar

Joe Biden tells a heart wrenching story on the stump:
“Let me tell you a little story,” The newspaper quoted Biden as saying. “I got elected when I was 29, and I got elected November the 7th. And on Dec. 18 of that year, my wife and three kids were Christmas shopping for a Christmas tree. A tractor-trailer, a guy who allegedly — and I never pursued it — drank his lunch instead of eating his lunch, broadsided my family and killed my wife instantly, and killed my daughter instantly, and hospitalized my two sons, with what were thought to be at the time permanent, fundamental injuries.”
The trouble is, it isn’t true. Back in 1972, Joe Biden had just won his senate seat. A couple weeks before he was to be sworn in, his wife and baby girl were tragically killed in a car accident.
Jerome Herlihy was the chief deputy attorney general who worked with the crash investigators. He has repeatedly said there was no alcohol involved. No charges were filed as the driver of the truck was not found to be at fault. The linked article is basically how the Dunn family still feels the pain of the accident. Mr. Dunn never got over his being involved in it. It wasn’t his fault, but he felt the pain each and every day anyway. To the day he died he was pained with regret. So, basically Biden is slandering the man to gain sympathy.
So let’s ask a few questions:
1. If Sarah Palin had this kind of “memory lapse” or told this kind of whopper, how likely would it be that she would get away with it?
2. Biden’s sons were in the vehicle. They were in the hospital for weeks. He took his oath of office at their hospital bed. From then until they got out, he left them alone at the hospital to go to DC to do the senator thing. How is Palin’s bringing her family to DC any worse?
3. Where can we get an Indian person to ask both those questions to Biden and then ask him if he’s been to an all white 7-11 or Dunkin’ Donuts lately?
Biden is scum. Plain and simple. Here’s hoping Palin thrashes him in the debate.

Now I can understand that Biden never looked at the investigation report — that isn’t uncommon for survivors of such tragedies. But the Dunn family brought the results to his attention to the Senator in 2001, after they became aware he was telling this story for his own political advantage — and he acknowledged their letter. And he kept on using the story.
This isn’t someone speaking in ignorance — this is a calculated use of the deaths of his wife and daughter for political advantage.
Oh, and the conclusion of the investigation seems to be (though no one will come right out and say it) that the accident was the fault of Mrs. Biden pulling away from a stop sign in front of a truck with no stop sign moving 50 MPH — and that she either did not look, did not see the oncoming truck, or believed she could beat it. That makes the lie even worse.

Biden Lied, His Family Died — UPDATED…
More to the point, he lied about how his wife and daughter died. Since his vice presidential nomination, Joe Biden’s 2007 statement that a “guy who allegedly … drank his lunch” and drove the truck that struck and killed his……
Brutus Centinel says:
Biden has a history of playing fast with the truth as his prior presidential derailment reminds us. What is so sad here is that his attacks compounded the pain of the man wrongly blamed by Biden. This isn’t just a tragic mistake - it’s a serious character flaw.
Lord Bitememan says:
Meh, let it go. It’s unfortunate that he may be misleading people about details of it, but there is no political or moral advantage in going after this. The man lost his family. We can give him a pass on the finer details of that. If not, what do we propose to do, attack a man over the details of the death of his family? What a bastardly bunch we’d come across as wouldn’t we. Let’s not be Kos about this. Let it go.
Chris says:
I’m all for letting it go, but again, if this had been Palin, there’s NO WAY they would. Biden is slandering this family. He should have to acknowledge that he is wrong.
Beaner says:
The Dunn family should sue Joe Biden for defaming their father and husband. Why is it that democrats are known for their outright lying and exaggeration of the truth, stealing money and are unable to keep their zippers in an upright position? They claim to be the only ones, who are looking out for the citizens of this Nation. Yet, everything they do whether it’s in their personal or professional life, shows they are only ever looking out for themselves and the liberal Democratic Party. This brings up all the crap that John “I’m Catholic” Kerry did during his campaign.
All the exaggerations of lies and truths proved the democrats, once again, picked the wrong candidate. Now, the democratic parties choose their President and Vice President, instead of allowing the democrat’s voters make the choice for themselves. Their always over confident and arrogant and then later on wonder how they could have lost. I think if a planet landed on them, they still wouldn’t get it as to why the American public rejects them. Their policies on spending, taxes and lack of real leadership are things most Americans don’t want, at least their version. Anyhow, you’d think by now they would come to the realization that their policies and theories are wrong, but NO they are too full of themselves and too arrogant to admit it, once again.
Harry says:
Whether Biden was accurate or not in his portrayal of the driver, there’s probably a lot of bitterness left over from that incident. I mean, regardless of what Biden’s political affiliation is, whether it be Republican or Democrat, the guy lost his wife. Part of his family too, right? So it’s not difficult to see how his emotions might cloud that incident & interfere with his perception of what happened on that day. If it was a Republican saying the same thing about a driver who killed his family, I’d understand. I wouldn’t hold it against him either.
Chris says:
Sorry Harry. There is NO WAY that a republican would get away with this. He sent a note to the family detailing how there were no hard feelings to the family. He knew all the details including how there was no alcohol involved. His wife blew off a stop sign and pulled in front of the truck. No charges were filed as the “at fault” had perished in the accident. A detailed investigation was performed and Biden knew all the details of it. .
No, I will not “let it slide” when he is knowingly slandering a family and since he driver, who never got over the guilt of being in the accident, died a few years ago, he’s not even here to defend himself. His family is having to relive the nightmare because Biden needs a campaign prop.
Palin can’t even sneeze without the media covering it and dissecting it. There is no freaking way that she could get away with this.
