Misc McCain/Palin

Some cool pictures pulled from Meghan McCain’s blog.
Everyone loves Piper Palin. She’s a real cutie pie. Here she is with mom. Talk about a natural. What’s the youngest age to be a senator or representitive?

A real family. Just like the ones you live next to. Unlike the “every movement scripted” Obama’s and Biden’s of the world.

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again: RoboMom!

If she isn’t the most organized person I’ve seen, I don’t know who is.
Also, here is an edited version of the cover of the People magazine taken immediately after Palin’s acceptance speech in Dayton. I know McCain is a 30 plus year politician, but if that doesn’t look like 2 average American families, I don’t know what does. Oh, notice the maternity wear on Bristol. Again this is the day Palin was introduced. They were never trying to hide anything. They had already come to terms with the facts of life. I found this on the HillaryClintonForum and it was a Clinton supporter who photoshopped the caption. As I said before, they are pissed. Big time.

Oh, a side note, amongst some of the stars that were in Minnesota for the republicans: Robert Downey Jr., Robert Duvall, Jon Voight, the Beach Boys (they’re still alive?) and this may make Beth like him a bit more: Daughtry.

Lord Bitememan says:
And for some fun, reprinted from the Wall Street Journal (inspired by the Baracuda herself):
• Nelles Hamilton: What’s the difference between a “community organizer” and a pit bull? Teeth.
• Dagny Billings: What’s the difference between a “community organizer” and a seeing-eye dog? Even a blind man can see the dog is actually helping someone.
• Michael Roberson: What’s the difference between a “community organizer” and a Chihuahua? The Chuhuahua will eventually shut up.
• Bob Vorick: What’s the difference between a “community organizer” and a puppy? One will grow up to become a loyal servant of mankind.
• O. Nara: What’s the difference between a “community organizer” and a shih tzu? Zu.

Superb site and fantastic comments. I was an elected official when my children were young; it’s not easy. But nothing worthwhile is ever easy.
Greg says:
Absolutely right! They look like my neighbors! Real Americans. I’m ready to vote for the 9 year old too! They love this country more than the Obamas and the Bidens. Isn’t it obvious?
Harry says:
For some reason, I associate the song Sarah by Jefferson Starship with Sarah Palin:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZqRTtkEHrA4
Go now,
Don’t look back we’ve drawn the line,
move on,
Its no good to go back in time,
I’ll never find another girl like you,
for happy endings it takes two,
with fire and ice, a dream won’t come true.
(Chorus)
Sarah, Sarah
storms are brewing in your eyes,
Sarah, Sarah
no time is a good time for goodbyes
Danger,
in the game when the stakes are high,
branded,
my heart was branded while my senses stood by,
I’ll never find another girl like you,
for happy endings it takes two,
with fire and ice, a dream won’t come true.
(Chorus)
Sarah, Sarah
storms are brewing in your eyes
Sarah, Sarah
no time is a good time for goodbyes
Hey, Sarah,
Love me like no one has ever loved me before,
hey, Sarah,
hurt me no one could ever hurt me more.
Hey, Sarah,
Sarah,
Hey, Sarah
the way you loved me before
Instrumental
I’ll never find a girl like you,
with fire and ice, a dream won’t come true
Chorus
Sarah, Sarah
no time is a good time for
Sarah, Sarah
storms are brewing in your eyes
Sarah, Sarah
no time is good time for goodbyes
Sarah, Sarah
storms are brewing in your eyes
Sarah, Sarah
no time is a good time
no-oh-oh-oh-oh
oh-Sarah
why did it, why did it,
why did it all fall apart?

Funny, Obama and his supporters remind me of a certain song by Nine Inch Nails. Now, I’m not going to post the lyrics here, but feel free to check them out for yourself:

Hmmm, fascinating. Actually, I don’t know what to make out of Obama. Not entirely sure what he stand for. As for McCain, I may not agree with everything he says and does, but here’s what I think of him:

Great blog, love the design! Yeah, I’ve been saying for a long time now that what we really need IS a normal everyday person in the white house, someone who has RECENTLY shopped for groceries. Looks like that’s what we have a chance to get now.

Speaking of the possibility of the return of the “cold war”. This election has turned in to a cold war of its own. “Daily Kos”, the media, some talk show host, etc. have been going out of their way to bash Palin for her belief in God and her church in particular. I am a conservative and a Christian and will not apologize for this. We really need to elect McCain/Palin before we will be forced to say, “This is not the country I use to know”.
Harry says:
The other thing I have to add about McCain, is that if people thought he is such a good guy now, why didn’t they nominate him back in 2000? I’ve always thought that he was the better person than Bush. I always had a high regard for McCain as being the more capable leader. And as a person too. A good person. At the same time, I’ve always thought that Bush spelled Big trouble with a Capital T. Not only for the USA but for the Republican Party as well. He trashed Reagan’s and his Dad’s legacy. It’s too bad that such a mess was made out of it by Bush, because it doesn’t give McCain very much to work with. If McCain had been given the chance back in 2000 instead of Bush, he could have really taken the Republican party places.
Lord Bitememan says:
Well, Harry, this is why. Parties, like people, are rational actors. As such, they rationally maximize. In 2000 the Republican party got to choose between two candidates who polled victory spreads over Gore and Bradley. That meant there was no losing move for Republicans, so the question was about who best represented the rational ground of the party. At the time in 2000, that was Bush, who wasn’t enamoured of risky things like campaign finance reform. In 2008 the calculus is much different. Most candidates polled as losers over Hillary with the notable exceptions that McCain and Giuliani both beat her. Therefore a choice between McCain and Giuliani yielded McCain as the rationally maximum choice, with Giuliani insufficiently advancing of the Republican rational ground, and other candidates unable to secure victory. Therefore McCain, as the guy who could win AND advance the most ground of the party of those who could win secured the nomition, whereas in 2000 Bush was a more advantageous choice in that regard.

Love the new layout, and love the pictures. How cute is the Palin family? I have a new found respect for John and Cindy McCain after the RNC convention.
Jack says:
I like McCain, but Palin is an ignorant tool who is not nearly as exciting as people make her out to be.
I love a Governor who bills the people for sleeping in her own home.

Lord Bitememan says:
She claimed the per diem allowence. Let me sum up. . .
“Said Leighow: “The governor is entitled to a per diem, and she claims it.”
Every official is entitled to these per diem allowences. The city of Detroit would be drooling on itself to have an official who claimed as little as Palin did (look up some of Kwame Kilpatrick’s grift).
But please, please, please dear God in heaven if you are merciful and listening. . . please I beg of you oh Lord let the Democrats bring this up on the stump so we can look into the cost of Joe Biden’s daily travel back and forth between Deleware and DC. Incidently, that’s a per diem x 30 years.
Jack says:
Every official is entitled to these per diem allowences.
Every official is not entitled to per diem allowances. The issue is not so much entitlement as to the 312 days she claimed it while staying at home.
If you read the article you’ll see that she had the reports amended so that they would not reflect her being at home.
If there is no issue with this, why did she scrub that information.
Lord Bitememan says:
“Every official is not entitled to per diem allowances.”
Yes, every official who incurs expenses in their duties in a public office is entitled to per diem allowences. If they weren’t, no such official expense accounts would exist. All public officials would be expected to pay these out of office.
“If you read the article you’ll see that she had the reports amended so that they would not reflect her being at home.”
Probably changed for the same reason when an airline posts a net gain from the insurance payoff on a plane vs. its depreciated value in the instance that payoff is made pursuant to an airplane crash, the dividend to shareholders is reported as the “involuntary conversion of an aircraft.” It’s made for the sake of sesibilities, not that anything per se was wrong.
It may interest you to know that legally, while Palin was at home, she WAS travelling. The governor is entitled to live in the governor’s mansion where the costs of living there are covered at public expense. So, while living at home as governor, she’s incurring the expenses of operating her home as opposed to living at the state covered governor’s mansion. Shrewd? Yes. But ethically no less dubious than Kwame Kilptrick’s fully legal usage of the Detroit travel accounts and non-council approved expenditures on vehicles.
Lord Bitememan says:
*out of office should read out of pocket.
David says:
Here is a line of questioning I would love to see some one have the guts to go down during a live interview.
True Family Values and Respect for Life means more than just having the child and not an abortion. The key word in there is MORE. Any one can have kids but it takes hard work, dedication and lots of attention to raise them in a responsible way. It means raising the child in a responsible way with plenty of direct parental (both) supervision, and interaction. This goes double or even triple for kids with special needs. I have worked in K-8 education for 23 years and any teacher can tell you that there are kids in their classes whose parents don’t value or respect them. These are the types of kids who seek love and attention in ways that often lead to drug abuse, early sexual activity and pregnancy, or other social outbursts.
I personally don’t like either final ticket. She might be a great mayor, governor, VP or even President, but at what cost to her family. And yes, research says it does make a difference which parent works out of the home (sorry Dads). It would be interesting to see interviews with past “first kids” and see how they weigh in on this from the child’s viewpoint.
I do think that Palin’s rhetoric on being pro life would be stronger if she included statements about helping women who decide not to have an abortion raise those children in a responsible healthy environment, or provide assistance with adoption options.
Lord Bitememan says:
“Here is a line of questioning”
It isn’t, as denoted by the total lack of a question mark anywhere in that block screed you posted. Your notion goes nowhere. You express concern over the fact that Palin has a special needs child. So what? We should elect that neophyte Obama to the presidency and watch Iran go nuclear and Russia reassert dominance in the break-aways just because we’re a bit concerned that a downs syndrome baby. . . might lag a skosh in development? Get real! This is a go-nowhere Democratic desperation talking point, not a legitimate grounds upon which to decide the leadership of the free world.
Common Man says:
I see,
The current situation of decline in our country will be repaired by the people writing the teleprompters and speeches. And just several months ago Mclame was the worst choice you ever had. Hmmm. You could be convinced that Sponge Bob is a great candidate with the Burger King creep as a vp. Just give them the speech and platform. Really, are you all THAT ignorant? The problems are going to increase without getting the reps out!
