She was death in a skirt. Obama better start worrying. Consider this an open thread in comments on how you think Governor Palin did in her speech tonight and how the whole event went. I am sorry I didn’t get the emails out for the live chat sooner, but it was just a last second thought. I was in the pool at 9:30 and thought about the live chat so I didn’t get it set up until 10:05. We’ll do it again tomorrow and definitely do the debates.
I missed Huckabee’s speech which I heard was great and I missed Romney’s which I heard was ok. I’ll have to catch them on youtube if they allow the republican speeches there. I saw Rudy tear the one a new one. He was incredible. He looked so at ease up there. Perfect choice for the keynote slot. Then came Sarah the magnificent. She started a bit slow as the crowd kept throwing her off a bit, but when she got into it, she was un-freaking-believable. I really think she did what she needed to do and more. And I loved the way she tore into Obama. She showed she’s not afraid to get her hands dirty and showed that even under withering attacks for the last several days, she can fight and deliver.
The left is already calling it a miss saying it was snide and won’t play well. Maybe not to the elites, but the average American, will think she did great. Susan Estrich was saying she did great but we’re still going to wonder what qualifies her for the VP tomorrow. Maybe, but by extension, we’ll be wondering that about Barack. So expect the media to stay in kill mode, but for now, Sarah, Rudy, Mike and Mitt, well done. You delivered a great display on the one single day that all eyes would be on you. Well done. Home freaking run!

Oh man. That was perhaps the best political speech I have ever seen in our post-modern political era. She nailed it in the head, completely and utterly. The Left should be scared stiff, because if they aren’t, well, Gov. Palin might just have to wipe off that lipstick.

Didn’t catch Huckabee (will watch it on the web). Rudy was good. He served up some red meat. Then Sarah came in and “slaughtered a small cow on stage”, to quote Charles Krauthammer.

I was afraid to get my hopes up last night - I mean, I adore Sarah Palin, I think she’s a breath of sorely-needed fresh air, and I think she’s a brilliant choice to the Republican nominee for Vice-President, but I’ve had high hopes dashed before….
