“Two Americas?” Edwards Has Two FAMILIES

Well, the Enquirer only reported it ten months ago. God forbid the mainstream media actually follow up on the story. It’s not like there weren’t any blogs writing about it — although admittedly, we didn’t write about it here, instead choosing to wait for a more “reliable” (LOL!) source. Lesson learned: the National Enquirer is more reliable than the mainstream media! ABC News finally broke the media silence, but it sure took long enough for them to get around to it. Pfffft.

Oh, I know - John Edwards says Rielle Hunter’s baby isn’t his. LOL. He also said many times in the last ten months that the Enquirer’s story about an affair was not true. We’re supposed to believe him now? And really, it’s not like having an affair (even if there are no children borne of it) is okay. Nice move having that affair when your wife has cancer, too. That’s a really nice touch.
What a miserable piece of shit. Filthy, rotten, amoral piece of shit. Silky Pony is scum. (But we knew that already.)
Curious silence on the former Edwards supporters’ blogs (cough Pandagon cough). Then again, it’s not like I’d expect any better from them. It’s especially rich considering some of those rabid Silky Pony supporters call themselves feminists — it reminds me of all the lefty feminists who defended Slick Willie and his extramarital activities. They’re only called “feminists” because they’re (angry) women, and they’re left-wingers. Phony losers.
Newsbusters is having a field day with the Edwards story - and has a little fun at Edwards’ expense with a caption contest. Father of the Year? LOL.
UPDATE: Banned at the Daily Kos for posting about the story! Is anyone surprised?

Hypocrisy. Hubris. Two words every politician should have tattooed to their palms.
Here’s a wonderful suggestion I have for politics: we should only have poor virgins run for office. That way when they get caught embezzling or sleeping around, it won’t be that big a deal.
Stix says:
This guy has alsways been a slick bastard and this just proves more and more that I am thankful he was never the VP
Lord Bitememan says:
Oh the hypocrisy of another “family values” repub. . . what? He’s a Democrat? Oh well, no hypocrisy here, Republicans preach about family values, Dems preach about nihilism and destruction of the fabric of our society. ;)
Anyway, he’s a schmuck for cheating on his wife when she was battling cancer.
PaulW says:
Lord Bitememan, let us be fair, and admit that Republicans get caught pulling this crap too.
Wanna try the name Vito Fossella? Or David Vitter’s patronage of the DC Madam? What about Newt Gingrich? *He* admitted to having an affair… on his second wife… while setting up the impeachment for that cheating SOB Clinton. So don’t go saying Republicans are all ‘family values’ and the Dems all scumbags. Both parties, both sets of politicians, be it Edwards or Spitzer or Guiliani or Kennedy or Clinton or Gingrich or Foley or Dan Crane or Hyde or Nelson Rockefeller (who at least had the dignity to go out with a smile) or Packwood or Harding or FDR or hell there’s even rumors about Lincoln… they all think they’re above reproach, they all get it in their stupid heads that they can ignore the morality they preach or enforce, and they all get caught like the stupid hypocritical morons that they are.
Like I said *ALL* politicians should have Hypocrisy and Hubris tattooed on them, politely on their palms but preferably on their buttcheeks. Better yet inside their damn eyelids.
P.S. Checked Daily Kos a few minutes ago to see if they were blocking discussion on Edwards… looks like they are now, so it seems enough people complained. Good for them.

Don’t care who you are, it’s called a vow for a reason. If you can’t be faithful to someone you claim to love, how can you be faithful to us, total strangers? How can we believe you when you’ve lied to your spouse?
It’s wrong.
Now throw in her fight with cancer, and it’s lowlife scum.
Beth says:
In fairness, Paul, Gingrich wasn’t pushing for Clinton’s impeachment, specifically because he lives in a glass house himself. He’s our Clinton. And to be honest, I couldn’t vote for Gingrich either, because his shit with his ex-wife says a lot to me too, and it hits too close to home. He’s a hell of a smart guy and is right on most things, but he fails the character test.
The other real crime in this story (besides that of Edwards being a POS for cheating on his sick wife) is how the media didn’t pursue the story even though it was reported at length almost a year ago in “less reputable” publications. If it had been about a Republican, they’d have crucified him. Just look at the shit that no less than the NY Times tried to fling at John McCain (and he’s not exactly a “family values” crusader). They just make shit up, based on their own imaginations and a nasty rumor - and the fact that a lobbyist happened to be female.
So Elizabeth Edwards has forgiven him. Good (?) for her - I wouldn’t make the same choice, and in fact, I’ve been in her shoes (including the cancer part) and divorced because of it, but if that makes her happy, good for her. We still can think he’s a filthy lowlife piece of shit, though, not to mention a pathetic liar (I have no doubt he’s that child’s father, based on the money allegedly being paid). It’s just like Clinton and Larry Craig, lying bastards who think they can talk their way out of their shit.
I don’t share your belief that ALL politicians are scum, but I agree that far too many are full of hypocrisy and hubris. They’re human just like the rest of us, and I’m absolutely certain that there are good men and women among them.
BTW, I think you missed the touch of sarcasm in LB’s comment. ;)
PaulW says:
I think Mickey Kaus on Slate was pushing this story big time, and was catching hell for it from the librul bloggers. Publius on Obsidian Wings apologized to Kaus, although he should have said more than just one sentence of ‘oops I was wrong.’ There ought to be at least three paragraphs of groveling for this level of wrongness.
Chris says:
Paul,
LB was being fair. He never said repubs didn’t do this. What he was saying is that is this was a republican, it would be reported as a typical “family values” slime ball being a hypocrite. Since it’s a democrat and they tend to favor the nihilistic destruction of the traditional family, it’s not going to be any big deal.
He’s right too. First the press refuses to cover it. Now they are trying to gloss over it and get it back on the back pages of the Enquirer.

If a person would do such a thing as cheat on a person that they profess to love then just imagine what they would do to you.

Well, to be fair, Amanda Marcotte, the Pandagon blogmistress who was briefly Mr Edwards’ campaign blogess, did, after a while, put up this article. Then, after not too long, she put up another article, combitching that she was “getting all these weird gloating trackbacks from right wingers.” Then, finally, when she couldn’t take it anymore, she wrote:
And closed the comments she did! :)
She couldn’t stand the heat, so she closed the kitchen door.
Lord Bitememan says:
Oh no harm no foul. Paul’s good people.
But get this. Appearantly Edward’s girl-toy, Rielle Hunter, actually had the audacity to say Elizabeth Edwards had “Bad Energy.” Elizabeth Edwards, apparantly, avoided eye contact with her. To which I say to that dish-water blonde gutter whore no fucking shit. Having cancer and a husband who’s cheating on you might just divert the flow of good chi around you. Banging her husband on the side might, MIGHT just make her divert eye contact from you just a bit. This “other woman” can shut her mouth and slither back into the swamp where she was hatched for all I care about her assessments of Mrs. Edwards.
