Nope, it’s not Obama (not this time, anyway). It’s just yet another disciple from his Amen Corner in the media - Michael Hirsch at Newsweek. No need for me to add a single thing to what (the other) McCain has written. Except maybe this…
Shorter Michael Hirsch:

Lord Bitememan says:
What amazes me is that Hirsh’s argument never, in any way, shape, or form, acknowledges that there might be some validity to some of this populism. He decries the “good-old-boy” mentality of Jacksoniansim, without also acknowledging that some of the more accomplished politicians we’ve ever had were common-man red state populists. Harry Truman and Lyndon Johnson are two great examples of that. And for all the intolerance he speaks of, it was Johnson, not blue staters like Kennedy and Roosevelt, that got the 1964 Civil Rights act passed.
Moreover, nowhere does he acknowledge that some of the red state ideals have been validated by history. It was northern Yankee liberalism that went apoplectic over the Reagan challenge to Communism, only a decade later having to concede that it drove the Soviet Union over the brink and into collapse. Routinely we see the nations of Europe moving further and further from socialist models of economics as red state free market continues to outperform it.
Worse yet, his entire article seems like exactly what Barack Obama was talking about, the bitterness of an out-group. Except that this time, instead of a small town voter, it’s a New England blue-blood smarting from the abject abandonment of politicians to his cause, and he’s bitter, and he clings to arrogance, snobery, and antipathy towards the common man.
Carpetbaggers and Other Such Foolishness « Obi’s Sister says:

Like he matters.
Followed the link to the other McCain. What’s wrong with Update 3? It’s concise and a well made statement.
