So once about 1979 Me-n-Bill Cecil were off to see “Jimbo” Beatty in Kempton, Indiana for the July fouth weekend. Bill had this black 75 Cutlass convertible and we had the top down and Ridin’ the Storm out blaring from the GM factory installed high quality small town (Kokomo, IN) stereo.
Seriously, we got stuck in the town parade!! We must have made it for the start cause the town was so small the parade made the loop 4 times just to last 15 minutes–we made all four loops. Lucky for us there were no open container laws at the time and you can imagine the look on “Jimbo’s” face as we drove by once-twice-thrice-quatro!!! With the Elizabethan wave!! We didn’t win a float award but we did give the mayor a cold beer at the close of the parade. —That’s a true story from the land of central Indiana you can share with the kids.
