Stupidest person in America?

Maybe. (Warning: it’ll make your blood boil.)

Uncle Jimbo and Drew M (at Ace’s) give this pathetic douchebag the beatdown which he so desperately deserves. For example, Uncle Jimbo:

Do the planet a favor Mr. DeBord and STFU about real men. Your attempt to portray Gen. Petraeus as a chickenhawk is the weakest of all arguments especially coming from someone who could only charitably be called even a girly man. Go back to your fern-filled loft and compare notes on the latest swill turned out by the grape-stompers. You need to leave the important business of who shall lead our country in war to those whose concept of it has progressed farther than fashion commentary about a man whose glass you are not fit to fill.

If that drooling idiot were on fire, I wouldn’t spit on him to put it out. He is a world-class asshat, to put it mildly. Thoroughly beclowned.

BTW, here’s his Amazon review of his own book (he graciously gave himself five stars, of course). Jerk. Feel free to make a contribution to the discussion. ;)

Sometimes you just have to sit there trying not to injure yourself as your jaw drops due to someone proudly demonstrating their colossal ignorance. I don’t know which is worse - that this person wrote this piece of offal or that the LAT published it under their masthead.

Let’s put the idiocy of this bottom dweller’s argument aside for a moment. I am constantly amazed that people who want to comment on or represent military members (90% of the product out of Hollywood) can’t take the very small effort of asking how the uniform is properly worn. It’s not just ignorant, it is malignantly and willfully ignorant.

If that “drooling idtio’s” hair was on fire — I’d piss on his leg.

The words of John Stuart Mills holds so true in regards to men (and I use that term very loosely in this case) like Mr. Grape Sniffer:

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature, and has no chance of being free unless made or kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.

You, Mr. DeBord are one such miserable creature. And every single Soldier, Airman, Marine, and Sailor who is serving, has ever served, or will ever serve — is a better man or woman than you yourself will ever be.

And Gen. Patreus? Being a men amongst men? You shouldn’t even be allowed to type his name.

Heard of penis envy? This guy has a severe case of man envy. The only way he can make himself feel good is to bag on someone who actually paid his dues. But of course, he is so “enlightened” so that qualifies him to be a 5-star douce. BTW, you don’t want to know what I really think of him.

I just love it when simpletons like DeBord try to justify their ignorant diatribe with history out of context. One great example:

Ulysses S. Grant accepted Robert E. Lee’s sword while outfitted in disheveled Union blue and muddy boots.

Appearantly he didn’t bother to research that beyond a couple quotes on Grant’s appearance at the time. The truth is Grant was out in the field and conducting correspondences with Lee regarding a surrender. Lee hadn’t given prior indications that he was prepared to surrender, and when Grant was invited to give terms he decided to go immediately to the meeting place rather than return to camp to change clothes.

Grant himself wrote of the occasion:

When I left camp that morning I had not expected so soon the result that was then taking place and consequently was in rough garb. I was without a sword, as I usually was when on horseback in the fields,

    and he further wrote

General Lee was dressed in full uniform which was entirely new, and was wearing a sword of considerable value. . . In my rough travelling suit, the uniform of a private with the straps of a liutenant general, I must have contrasted very strangely with a man so handsomely dressed, six feet high and of faultless form. . . .

So it seems that Grant’s motives in his dressed down state were less about DeBord’s notion of “military humility” and more that this was how Grant preferred to dress when conducting field operations. Grant seems to have been at least a twinge embarassed about his appearance and genuinely reverent of Lee’s soldierliness in his.

As for Eisenhower, he might not have worn a lot of medals but he had his own ideas of soldierly appearance in the officer corps. He loved the look of the British Battle Dress coat and copied it into the Eisenhower Jacket. He loved to model the thing and started quite the military fashion trend. It also didn’t hurt his reputation as a fashionable celebrity in American eyes.

As for MacArthur’s dress during the Japanese surrender (actually, the bigger issue was his dress upon meeting the emperor), many speculate it was largely a calculated moved on Mac’s part. It was not out of military humility, lord knows of every last man and woman on the face of the planet, Douglas MacArthur had the LEAST notion of humilty.

As for George Marshall limiting his chest decorations, feast your eyes on this chest:

I guess George Marshall was all glitter too?
