Ann Coulter is an Idiot, Part Duh

Ann Coulter would “vote for the devil” over John McCain.

Ann Coulter is still supporting Hillary Clinton, but (sort of) says Republicans should vote for Romney.

Ann Coulter, until very recently, had nothing good to say about Mitt Romney. Or any other candidate–including Fred Thompson–besides Duncan Hunter.

You have a choice: the unhinged Ann Coulter/Hillary Clinton wing of the conservative movement, or the John McCain/Steve Forbes/Ted Olson/Tom Coburn/Norman Schwarzkopf/et al. wing.

I cannot believe people still listen to this bint. Is this the poster child for conservatism that you want? When, once and for all, are other conservatives going to reject this embarrassment to our side? Isn’t it time to give our own Ted Ralls and Cindy Sheehans the boot?

Oh wait, this is funny. From Coultard’s archives of “Quotations from Chairman Ann”–

At least Carter was only endorsed by Castro August 21, 2007, 2:53 AM

Shocker: Former Madam Is A ‘Big Fan Of Hillary’

Ahem.

And there’s this gem (also from “Chairman Mao’s Ann’s Quotations archive):

Ridiculous Romney Cites Book By Scientologist L. Ron Hubbard May 2, 2007, 1:07 PM
This is not helping Mormons seem normal . . .

MITT ROMNEY, L. RON HUBBARD FAN

What’s next? Winking at Islamic fundamentalists for being the last Americans to give up polygamy?

Oh, and this, too:

Gov. Mitt Romney will never recover from his acquiescence to the Massachusetts Supreme Court’s miraculous discovery of a right to gay marriage.

Pervez Musharraf is better than Mitt Romney! Ann Coulter said so!

If Republicans end up with a divided convention between Mitt Romney and Rudy Giuliani, I say we pick Gen. Pervez Musharraf.

I see…a dictator who is nominally friendly to American interests (”he may be a dictator, but he’s our dictator,” as the saying goes). Sounds just like Ann Coulter to me.

Gosh, but she makes conservatism sound so appealing. Not.

Good luck convincing people to vote for Romney with people like Ann Coulter doing the talking for you. I’m a conservative, but that shrew and her shrieking “conservative” media brethren do not speak for me.

I’ll stick to the adults, thanks.

UPDATE: More about the hysteria from Soccer Dad, with a word from Commander Kang.

UPDATE, 2/4/07: Bill Kristol nails it.

American politics tends to be unkind to movements that dwell in anger and relish their unhappiness. In the era from Franklin D. Roosevelt to John F. Kennedy, liberals tended to be happy warriors — and that helped their cause. The original civil rights movement succeeded in part because it worked hard to transcend a justifiable bitterness. Liberalism faltered when it became endlessly aggrieved and visibly churlish.
[...]
They [angry conservatives --ed.] can choose to stand aside from history while having a temper tantrum. But they should consider that the American people might then choose not to invite them back into a position of responsibility for quite a while to come.

Is this silly woman even a Republican? Or does she just sort of free lance?

It says Republican on her voter ID card. The problem is she still can’t read the precinct number on it and keeps voting in the wrong area. Sheesh.

Every time Ann Coulter opens her mouth she does more damage to the party than Monica Lewinsky did to the Democrats when she opened her mouth.

I think she’s hysterical. I saw that on Hannity and Colmes and I did not take her seriously. It’s almost like she’s winking at us as she’s talking. Sometimes she crosses the line, but there is always a valid point that is further emphasized by the absurdity of her statements. I think she’s very clever. Unfortunately, liberals take everything she says literally, and cannot grasp the underlying message.

All this infighting and bickering from the right is utterly embarrassing. I would expect this type of tripe from the leftist libtards because for the most part, they act like a spoiled two year throwing a temper tantrum.

My original candidate of choice of Fred!, with Romney as a second choice, and McCain third. So here we are, with a choice of two, Romney and McCain, nothing much we can do about it.

But, what we can do is to vote. I would rather have my finger nails pulled out with a pair of pliers than cast a vote for Hill or Barry.

People seem to think that if McCain gets elected, the shamnesty bill and other bills we conservatives didn’t like will go through, but think about it for a minute…the innernets changed the dynamics of the political process, in that we grassroots conservatives have a greater voice then ever before, and can affect real change.

So, let’s not throw the baby out with the bathwater, folks.

    Hmmmm.

While I agree than Ann Coulter is sometimes simply pulling our legs for effect, I think she had an underlying and serious point to make here.

There are some major underlying economic problems with our economy, and a large piece of that is out of control spending, the frantic outsourcing of American manufacturing overseas and the huge problem of our unsecured borders.

If the fit is going to hit the shan, she probably feels that it might be better for a President Hillary to take the hit than a Republican.

She’s also realizes that the current occupant of the White House has,by his actions shattered his own party and made the brand name of `conservative’ leave a bad taste in a lot of people’s mouths. Bush is deeply unpopular, and rightfully so.

So I think she’s reasoning that after four years of corrupt socialist government and all that entails,
The American people will once again be ready for a return to first principles.

In fact, that’s exactly how Ronald Reagan was elected, following the buffoonish one term Jimmy Carter.

I don’t entirely agree with her, but I don’t entirely disagree either. And I give her points for this much…unlike the GOP establishment and a lot of so-called conservative opinion mongers, she had the sense to figure out the one candidate in the race who actually was cast in the Reagan mold - Duncan Hunter.

I’m bitterly amused these days to hear conservative pundits whine about there being `no real conservative leader out there’ in the race and screwing up their faces to endorse Mitt Romney as a McCain alternative like kids taking an unwanted dose of medicine.

I could vote for Mitt Romney or Mike Huckabee against Hillary, but there’s very little daylight between Hillary and McCain on many issues.

And it will likely be Lady Macbeth, by the way.

    All Best,

    ff

I am so tired of hearing about that socalled shamnesty bill. Other than making complete fools of themselves, what have the hardliners accomplished? They have not won any elections and now these idiots are talking about letting Obama or Hillary win? Obama supports drivers licenses for illegals for Chrisake. I am beginning to think the whole immigration thing is just a fraud, a scam, something to make an issue out of for political gain. And thus far it has backfired.

I thinkl that Camera prostitute coulter will say anything to get her five minutes of air-time regardless of the fallout. As far as the amnesty bill Mac will secure the borders just as he said he would and then will deal with the illegals within our borders. He is a man of his word and will not go back on it nor forget about what he has said. The illegals within our nation are sort of like toothpaste that has been squeezed out of a tube…once it is out you can’t put it back you just have to clean up the mess and go on. As for the president of Mexico if need be he can be treated as a hostile also if cooperation can not be reached.

Okay, to Freedom Fighter and Scott, since rhetoric doesn’t matter:

I think anyone who still listens to Ann Coulter and thinks she’s the least bit helpful to conservatives is just plain stupid. I’m sorry, but I cannot take a word you say seriously. If you think being insulting to people is going to grow the conservative movement, you’re delusional and apparently don’t have any experience dealing with actual human beings. And that’s what we’re talking about here–actual human beings whose opinions we’d like to influence, not just pixels on the screen. Get out of your mama’s basement and the echo chamber and start thinking for yourselves. Only a complete boob, a social retard, would slavishly follow Ann freakin’ Coulter.

What, my lobbing insults is off-putting? It makes you not want to hear what I have to say? Funny how that works, isn’t it?

Also, to Freedom Fighter: take your Bush-bashing shit to the DU or Kos. It’s NOT welcome here.

    Jim says:

OK, so sometimes Ann Coulter does go over the top. Nevertheless, I think she is, most of the time, laugh out loud funny.
Look, she comes from tne NY metropolitan area. She is a wise ass and a nut buster (pardon the language). If you don’t understand this about her, she’s only going to annoy the hell out of you.

  14. Gravatar
    Beth says:

I DO understand her. Jesus. That’s not the point. Did you read the post?

Look, I used to think she was funny, too. But I see really no difference between her style and that of Ted Rall or Rosie O’Donnell, and does that make the left look attractive? I resent the toxic effect she’s had on public discourse in general, and more to the point, the toxic effect she’s had on conservatism. She makes the Right look bad.

Don’t you understand this? Is it more important to have little private mean jokes among “just us conservatives” and put off everyone else, or to make conservative thought interesting to others? The bitch constantly yammers on about Ronald Reagan, but she totally misses the point about him. He didn’t grow the movement by being an asshole! He did so by reaching out to moderates (and yes, Democrats!) and showing them that conservatism is positive, inviting, and good for all people. Not just conservatives.

And it’s not just Coulter, either–all these feces-flinging monkeys (Mark Levin, etc.) these days are guilty of the same thing. It’s THEIR fault we’re losing the public debate–theirs, along with the fault of losers like Larry Craig, Duke Cunningham, and other corrupt elected leaders. Yet we keep buying this shrew’s books (well, I don’t) and reading her tripe and repeating it as though it’s gospel. Well, I’m pissed that they’re destroying my party and Reagan’s legacy. Conservatism isn’t failing; the poster children for conservatism are.

Look, I didn’t vote for Huckabee, but I can see why people do, despite some of his political views. He isn’t the stereotypical conservative evangelical, telling everyone they’re going to hell like Ann Coulter would do. He makes it easy to listen to his message, and he speaks in inclusive language. Same for McCain, although for different reasons–he is a man of honor, a man whom you can respect. Duty, honor, country. He isn’t exclusionary in his rhetoric, either. That’s why he is winning, and despite what the Coultards say, he is NOT going to destroy conservatism–unless you call the histrionic Coulter crowd “conservatism.” He can bring people TO conservatism because independents, moderates (and yes, some Democrats) respect him.

    Lord Bitememan says:

Here’s all you need to understand about Ann Coulter. Her degree is in law. She had a private practice for a while. That didn’t work out too well, so she started shilling for Spence Abraham of Michigan. Once he was toast she went to work for the Center for Individual Rights. Now, I interned there during the summer of 2002. I asked Terry Pell what he thought of her. He explained “During the brief time she deigned to associate with us we barely saw her.”

2 + 2 = she couldn’t cut it as a lawyer and found out she could make more money hustling controversy to a market of narrow-minded dunderheads.

This incendiary minx has nothing of value to say. If you want to read truly enlightened conservative minds try reading a bit of Thomas Sowell once in a while.

I have never seen such wimps. How can you be afraid of a cute blondes comments. No wonder the conservatives are in trouble. It’s not Ann’s comments, it’s your lack of principle and fortitude. You’re really not conservative, and a lot of you are afraid of free speech. Get some brains like Ann and learn how to fight!
