Steve Forbes Endorses McCain

Almost nothing could make me happier than Steve Forbes’ endorsement and his joining the McCain team as an economic adviser.

ARLINGTON, VA — U.S. Senator John McCain’s presidential campaign today announced that Steve Forbes has endorsed John McCain for president.

“More and more Americans will be impressed by John McCain’s efforts to reform our convoluted, growth retarding, anti-opportunity tax code.” said Mr. Forbes. “He understands that dollars and decisions are best left to hard-working Americans. John McCain’s pro-growth plan to cut taxes, stop wasteful spending and reform our healthcare system will secure our nation’s prosperity for generations to come. He is the best candidate to ensure our economic and national security. I look forward to working with him in the days ahead.”

John McCain thanked Mr. Forbes, stating, “Steve has been a major contributor to the tax reform movement in our country. He is a successful business leader and an effective advocate for reducing the burden of a heavy-handed government. I appreciate Steve’s advice and counsel on the important economic issues facing our nation, and I am grateful to have him on our team.”

Steve Forbes currently serves as the Editor-in-Chief of Forbes Magazine and Chairman / CEO of its parent company, Forbes Media.

Yeah, Rush, Ann Coultard, Malkin, Mark Levin, and other entertainers might support Romney, but I’ll take the word of experts–not the plutocracy of punditry–instead. As JR from Armchair Everything said in the comments here,

This is starting to become a battle for who really matters in the conservative movement. Is it the talking heads and writers, or is it the people who do the actual work (like Olson) and the voters? In my mind, guys like Olsen, Estrada, and Calabresi hold greater weight than the pundits and talking heads like Limbaugh and Levin.

Megadittos, my friend. And as I was just saying to someone else in email, people like Stephen Hayes, a well-known expert on Islamic terrorism, along the people on these overflowing lists, supporting John McCain means a lot more than those talking heads as well.

SO much for being weak on the economy eh? Ad Forbes to the list, which already includes some of the people that drew me into this area of politics years ago like Jack Kemp and Phil Gramm. Gotta find out if Jack wants to be governor of NY…

Well Romney won in Main, his only real competition there was Ron Paul. The crazy bastard.

One poll, Rasmussen daily tracking has tie and these things together have given the Romney forces hope that all is not lost. They think McCain did badly in the CNN debate and so it is showing. I did not see it that way. I thought Romney was going to cry when McCain kept pressuring on the timetable remark re Iraq. I heard someone say earlier that the thing to do was to get McCain to lose his cool on national TV. Seems to me it was Romney getting all red in the face up there. But what the hell, to each his own. I thought Kerry won at least one of the debates with Bush, but Bush still won because Kerry is a weenie. We can never underestimate the weenie effect.

The RCP average still has McCain out in front by a good margin.
