Weather Channel boss joins the Global Warmingism fray

And he’s not holding back: the PLANET IS BURNING!!!!!!!
Oh. Wait a minute. Maybe not.
“It is the greatest scam in history. I am amazed, appalled and highly offended by it. Global Warming; It is a SCAM,” John Coleman wrote in an article published on ICECAP, the International Climate and Environmental Change Assessment Project, which is known for challenging widely published theories on global warming.
A scam!! Who knew?!?!
The Daily Telegraph clearly don’t agree, however, and insert a piece of blatant editorializing into their ‘news’ item:
His views challenge the consensus of the international science community that it is at least 90 per cent certain that temperatures will continue to rise, with average global surface temperature projected to increase by between 1.4 and 5.8ºC above 1990 levels by 2100.
This increase will be accompanied by rising sea levels, more intense precipitation events in some countries, increased risk of drought in others, and adverse effects on agriculture, health and water resources.
In other words, there will be widely varying weather events. Just like there have been throughout history.
I have a question. If human beings, internal combustion engines and car exhausts are required to effect global warming, how did the planet ever exit the Ice Age?
Mr. Coleman goes on:
“Now their ridiculous manipulated science has been accepted as fact and become a cornerstone issue for CNN, CBS, NBC, the Democratic Political Party, the Governor of California, school teachers and, in many cases, well informed but very gullible environmental conscientious citizens.
“Only one reporter at ABC has been allowed to counter the Global Warming frenzy with one 15 minutes documentary segment.”
He added: “I have read dozens of scientific papers. I have talked with numerous scientists. I have studied. I have thought about it. I know I am correct.
“There is no run away climate change. The impact of humans on climate is not catastrophic. Our planet is not in peril.”
And that, as they say, is that.

Kinda weird that anyone would honestly believe that the climate of the Earth is somehow static and can so easily be changed.
I remember back in the 70’s a global iceage was what was coming, wonder how we’ll see these “global warming” doofi (plural for “doofus?) 30 years from now.

There have been many ice ages in the Earth’s history and the evidence suggests they are linked to regular variations in the Earth’s orbit around the Sun (the Milankovitch cycles). This can be calculated with astronomical precision and is not the reason for the current warming trend.
Regarding global warming on Mars and Jupiter: The observed regional changes in Mars’ south polar ice cover are almost certainly due to a regional climate transition (not a global phenomenon) associated with the Mars’ orbit (1 year on Mars = 2 years on Earth) and eccentricity (the elliptical shape of the orbit – five times larger than Earth’s) around the sun as well as the composition of its atmosphere.
If you’re interested there’s an excellent discussion about it here (it also discusses Jupiter in the comments section): http://www.realclimate.org/index.php/archives/2005/10/global-warming-on-mars/#more-192

The issue isn’t whether the climate is static or constantly changing – the issue is the rate of the current change. Changes in the past have taken place over thousand of years. Currently the climate appears to be changing much faster than that. Scientists believe the burning of fossil fuels is adding long lasting green house gases to the Earth’s atmosphere, thus resulting in the current warming trend.
