Weblog Awards Voting Guide

OK, first: Thanks to those of you who have voted for MVRWC, but really…DON’T. Don’t vote for MVRWC; I want one of the blogs on “our side” to win, and I’m not the one who can or even should win. Instead, I want you to vote for The Jawa Report or Red State.

Now that that’s out of the way, the list:

Best Blog:

Post Secret is slaughtering the competition; it’s not even close. I’d be surprised if even Michelle Malkin could catch up with them, but I’d love to at least see her (anyone, really) beat the nausea-inducing Huffington Trash. The only battle here is for second place, and it’s between those two right now.

Best New Blog:

Jammie Wearing Fool has the Lizardoid vote locked up, but Nice Deb is a fellow moron and gets my vote. (”Morons” meaning those of us who hang out in Ace’s comments, for you non-morons out there.)

Best Individual Blogger:

The Anchoress, of course. Glenn Reynolds will probably win it, though. Frankly, I don’t even know who the hell some of those people are, and basically it looks like Lindsay Beyerstein has the lib vote just because of her politics. Feh.

Best Conservative Blog:

Duh. Vote for Ace. I’m guessing if you read this blog, you probably already are voting for Ace anyway.

Eh, I’m not gonna go through the whole list. It could take all day. Here’s a shorter VRWC-approved list, focusing on some of the categories you may have otherwise overlooked.

Liberal Blog: Not VRWC-approved, but vote for Skippy the Bush Kangaroo, because he just seems like a nice dude and doesn’t spend all day hating. (Which is probably why he’s in last place right now, if that tells you anything.) I’ve always voted for him in these things.

Best Political Coverage: The Campaign Spot (Jim Geraghty). I’d vote for Geraghty for President.

Best Celebrity Blogger: Eh, who cares. I’m voting for Curt Schilling, though, even though I’m SO not a Red Sox fan. Better a baseball player blog than some stupid celebritard blog, right? And actually, it’s a good blog.

Best Tech Blog: Lifehacker or Smashing Magazine–I love those blogs. Smashing is more focused on design, so it may not be your kinda blog, though. I’m just sick of the endless streak of Engadget/Gizmodo wins. Booooring. I wish Lifehacker and Smashing Magazine would at least ask their readers to vote, though, because Engadget and Gizmodo are creaming the competition right now. Bleh.

Best LGBT Blog: Average Gay Joe is another moron-blogger; vote for him. Sure, he’s gonna get killed by the lefturds, but show him the love anyway.

Parenting Blog: I don’t actually know any of these blogs, but I looked and I like Dad Gone Mad. Vote for him.

Education: Don’t care, but Matthew K. Tabor and Frumteacher are good.

Science: Climate Audit. Period.

Medical: Baldy’s Blog. Read this post of his, please.

Religious Blog: It looks to be a battle between the Catholics (Father Z’s WDTPRS) and Evangelicals (Evangelical Outpost), but vote for one of my best friends (and fellow Cotillionite) instead–Jody (and Wendei!) at GodDivas. PLEASE.

Culture Blog: Libertas!

Gossip: Go Fug Yourself is hilarious; vote for them.

UK Blog: The Devil’s Kitchen. Vote or die.

European: Brussels Journal or Van Der Galien Gazette.

Asian: Ko Htike’s Prosaic Collection is getting killed right now, but vote for them–they’ve been providing front-lines coverage of the turmoil in Burma (Myanmar).

Aussie/NZ Blog: Tim Blair, obviously. He’s got some competition this year from some Pepto-Bismol pink and glittery girly blog, of all things, and some newspaper blog (from The Age) that frankly makes my nose wrinkle.

Latino/SA/Caribbean blog: Babalu. The Real Cuba is good, but it’s not a blog.
UPDATE: Val Prieto posted this in the Weblog Awards Forum:

As pleased and honored as we at Babalu are to be once again a finalist in the Weblog Awards, and as last year’s winners, we would like to respectfully bow out of this year’s contest and allow one of the other fine blogs in our category a chance to receive this year’s laurels.

I thank those that have and were thinking of voting for Babalu and ask that you consider voting for The Real Cuba, who does an incredibly outstanding job at exposing the truth about the communist island.

You heard the man, vote for The Real Cuba!
