He may be a rock legend famous for his commitment to ending third world debt repayment, but he’s just given an interview with Rolling Stone that will NOT endear him to the Tim Robbins wing of the entertainment establishment.
I want to be very, very clear, however: I understand and agree with the analysis of the problem. There is an imminent threat. It manifested itself on 9/11. It’s real and grave. It is as serious a threat as Stalinism and National Socialism were. Let’s not pretend it isn’t.

He goes on to make a rather silly point about the need to talk with Hamas and Al Qaeda, and to compromise, but overall he’s doesn’t toe the cookie-cutter leftist celebrity-moron line.
Clinton did exactly the right thing in talking to the Provisional IRA and other extremist elements. Now they have to do the same, in my opinion, with Hamas, and they have to do the same with Al Qaeda. You have to involve them in dialogue.
How do we contact them, where would we meet, who would represent them, who would represent us (the UN?), what would we offer them (ten million converts for every year without a mass slaughter?) - the whole idea that we can talk to people who don’t want and will not accept compromise is silly.
But credit where it’s due, he is willing to acknowledge the reality that almost every Democrat is trying like crazy to ignore.
