Stopping the DREAM act is essential, but yesterday, the Senate failed to pass Vitter’s amendment which would have withheld Federal “COPS” funds from any city that has established sanctuary status. I think that it is high time that we pushed our senators and reps to withhold Federal funds from any state that engages in, or permits its cities to engage in, activities where they do not cooperate with the FedGov’s responsibility to enforce immigration laws.
I believe that it is insanity to permit cities and states to flout Federal law, especially on so critical an issue. And I think that all Federal funds should be withheld, not just “COPS” funds. Freeze construction on new Fed facilities in the affected area. Withhold highway funds, Federal school monies, and anything else, until the state and its cities are in compliance with Federal law.
Now that’s a campaign whose time has come!
