Mike Huckabee on Faith and Politics

This was from a sermon in Little Rock. There’s more here about how faith guides him and how it guided our Founding Fathers, but it doesn’t enforce religious practice. There is a difference.
I’ll admit I’ve had reservations about Huckabee as President because of his background as an ordained minister, but that’s only because of the toxic political environment these days, where Bush is vilified for his Christianity and Christians are, by extension, equally vilified. It’s become “hip” to hate Christianity, because of liberal transference of “Republican” onto “Christianity.” I only fear that if Mike Huckabee were to become the nominee or President, the God-bashing from the Left would become exponentially worse. I don’t want people to turn away from God because of politics. Now, I don’t think all the Christian-bashers are that way because of their hatred for Bush and Republicans, but I can’t help but think that it drives, or at least aggravates, a lot of it.
Despite those reservations, I like Mike Huckabee. I like that his faith makes him who he is and believe what he believes in. I challenge those who think otherwise to actually listen honestly to what he says, and see if they find it as threatening as they want to think it is. I’d say they won’t.
Thompson-Huckabee ‘08? Huckabee-Thompson ‘08?

Sparta, Thank you for this posting. Huckabee has my vote.

“If I was Saint Peter, you wouldn’t even be in my district.”
Now that was funny.
And I love this clip. I like how he incorporates a civics lesson in with his belief system.

I also want to add that I think that I have heard this before. It’s been a year or so, but I think I heard it (or something similar) on Focus on the Family.
