Apparently, Moveon.org has sic’d attorneys on some CafePress operators who satirized MoveOn.org. I guess in their minds they are the only ones allowed to make fun of other groups of people. That’s pretty typical, I think. They tell US how to live our lives, what to think and what to say. They decide what is proper and what isn’t. Its okay to make fun of an Army General, a United States President, the Jewish or Christian faiths, but don’t make fun of them or any of the groups they deem are off limits.
Talk about asking for satire, laughing and pointing fingers! That’s all the reason anyone should need to make vicious fun of them!
Hot Air has put out a call to photoshop mock moveon.org. Hey - sounds like a good time to me not to mention, a worthy cause.
Here’s my contribution …
Check out some really good ones at The Pirates Cove (where I found this fun activity!)
Check out Michelle’s post on why we should fight the smear merchants.
Blue Crab Blvd got the whole thing started.
The World According to Carl has been having fun with this!

A large group of Al-Qaeda fighters are moving down a road when they hear a voice call from behind a sand dune:
“One MARINE is better than ten Al-Qaeda fighters “.
The Al-Qaeda commander quickly orders 10 of his best men over the dune where upon a gun-battle breaks out and continues for a few minutes, then silence.
The voice once again calls out:
“One MARINE is better than one-hundred Al-Qaeda fighters.”
Furious, the Al-Qaeda commander sends his next best 100 troops over the dune and instantly a huge gun fight commences. After 10 minutes of battle, again Silence.
The MARINE’S voice calls out again:
“One MARINE is better than one-thousand Al-Qaeda fighters.”
The enraged Al-Qaeda commander musters 1000 fighters and sends them to the other side of the dune. Rifle fire, machine guns, grenades, rockets and Cannon fire ring out as a terrible battle is fought …. Then silence.
Eventually one badly wounded Al-Qaeda fighter crawls back over the dune and with his dying words tells his commander …….
“Don’t send any more men …… it’s a trap. There are two of them.”

OMG.
A Saudi man divorced his wife for watching alone a television programme presented by a male, an act he deemed immoral, the Al Shams newspaper reported on Saturday.
The man, whom the paper did not identify, ended his marriage on the grounds his wife was effectively alone with an unrelated man, which is forbidden under the strict Islamic law enforced in the ultra-conservative kingdom, the paper said.
Men in Saudi Arabia have the authority to divorce their wives without resort to the courts.
Actually, one quick comment: How in earth can you reason with adherents to a religion that promotes such backwardness and stupidity?
Seems that Columbia has some, errrr, form, as far as coddling dictators goes.
In the 1930s, Columbia was run by Nicholas Murray Butler, to whose name a special sort of infamy attaches. Butler was an outspoken admirer of Italian fascism and of its leader, Benito Mussolini. The Columbia president, who also was in the forefront of Ivy League efforts to restrict Jewish enrollment, worked tirelessly to build ties between his school and Italian universities, as well as with the powerful fascist student organizations. At one point, a visiting delegation of 350 ardent young Black Shirts serenaded Butler with the fascist anthem.
What the hell is it with the American academy? They become intoxicated with every tyrant and tinpot thug that comes along, provided always that they are an enemy of America, natch.
Three years later, Butler sent a delegation of Columbia dignitaries to participate in anniversary celebrations at the University of Heidelberg. That was after Heidelberg had purged all the Jewish professors from its faculty, reformed its curriculum according to Nazi educational theories and publicly burned the unapproved books in its libraries.
It would be interesting to know if any consideration of these events — and all that followed a decade of engagement and dialogue with fascism — occurred before Columbia extended a speaking invitation to a man who hopes to see Israel “wiped off the face of the Earth,” has denied the Holocaust and is defying the world community in pursuit of nuclear weapons. Perhaps they did and perhaps that’s part of what motivated Lee Bollinger, Columbia’s president now, to deliver his extraordinarily ill-advised welcoming remarks to Ahmadinejad.
The arrant stupidity of these self-involved narcissists defies belief. It satisfied Bollinger’s vanity to invite this crackpot anti-Semite to speak at his school, and it further satisfied his vanity to rip him a new one before hearing him. I hope there are some Columbia alumni who have offered their reaction to this display of self-adulation, namely removing their ongoing financial support until this infantile posturing ends.
And of course, Bollinger’s showing-off provided a distraction that enabled the media to continue their studied refusal to take this psychopath at his word, and withhold informing the American public about his absolute evil.
As a fundamentally secular institution, the American press always has had a hard time coming to grips with the fact that Islamists like the Iranian president mean what they say and that they really do believe what they say they believe.
Read the whole thing and then visit comments; sample:
Funny how you label Ahmadinejad a mass murderer for talking about the downfall of a country when George Bush is actually doing it! Point your outrage to the source of the problems in the world, this administration.
Yes, you will note again the left’s willingness to excuse absolutely anything because the ultimate evil resides at the White House.
This was from a sermon in Little Rock. There’s more here about how faith guides him and how it guided our Founding Fathers, but it doesn’t enforce religious practice. There is a difference.
I’ll admit I’ve had reservations about Huckabee as President because of his background as an ordained minister, but that’s only because of the toxic political environment these days, where Bush is vilified for his Christianity and Christians are, by extension, equally vilified. It’s become “hip” to hate Christianity, because of liberal transference of “Republican” onto “Christianity.” I only fear that if Mike Huckabee were to become the nominee or President, the God-bashing from the Left would become exponentially worse. I don’t want people to turn away from God because of politics. Now, I don’t think all the Christian-bashers are that way because of their hatred for Bush and Republicans, but I can’t help but think that it drives, or at least aggravates, a lot of it.
Despite those reservations, I like Mike Huckabee. I like that his faith makes him who he is and believe what he believes in. I challenge those who think otherwise to actually listen honestly to what he says, and see if they find it as threatening as they want to think it is. I’d say they won’t.
Thompson-Huckabee ‘08? Huckabee-Thompson ‘08?
Women from a new Polish political party have stripped off in a controversial poster campaign ahead of national elections.Seven candidates from the Women’s Party are featured posing behind a billboard that reads: “The party of women. Poland is a woman.”
The attention-grabbing move is making waves in staunchly Catholic Poland, where the ruling Kaczynski twins have pushed a fiercely conservative agenda.
Writer Manuela Gretkowska said she founded the party as the Polish government considered tightening already strict controls on abortion.
“It is the straw that broke the camel’s back,” she said, adding that Poland’s political scene was usually run by men for men.
“This poster is intended to shatter stereotypes in the anachronistic world of politics, which is more often dominated by uncommunicative men with their black tie outfits,” she said.
“We are beautiful, nude, proud. We are true and sincere, body and soul. This is not pornography, there is nothing to see in terms of sex, our faces are intelligent, concerned, proud.
“We do not have our mouths open nor our eyes closed,” she said.
——-
Hmmm… I bet they wouldn’t do that if they looked like hillary clinton or nancy pelosi or [shudder] barbara boxer. Still, it brings to mind the Kerry/Edwards campaign… “Vote for us, we have better hair.”
It took the threat of limited abortions to get their clothes off. Its amazing the extent some women will go to be able to kill their children.

Is this thing on? Eh, didn’t think so.
Here, do something useful.
Read this. Reports from inside Burma.
For dozens of years, the international community has been arguing over how it should reform the United Nations so that it can better secure civic and human dignity in the face of conflicts such as those now taking place in Burma or Darfur, Sudan. It is not the innocent victims of repression who are losing their dignity, but rather the international community, whose failure to act means watching helplessly as the victims are consigned to their fate.
The world’s dictators, of course, know exactly what to make of the international community’s failure of will and inability to coordinate effective measures. How else can they explain it than as a complete confirmation of the status quo and of their own ability to act with impunity?
The UN is once again showing how useless it is. Why should the world’s dictators (ahem, Ahmadinejad?) see it any other way? If the “international community” can’t be arsed to support a peaceful resistance that poses no potential threat to anyone, why would the despots over traditionally unstable populations (who could themselves be seen as a potential threat to our interests) see anything but impotence and fear on our part?
The Burmese monks (quite unlike the world’s imams and ayatollahs) aren’t calling for death to America, death to Israel, after all. The UN may not care, but WE should.

THE SITUATION IN BURMA AND WHY IT MATTERS TO ALL OF US
There is no press freedom in Burma and the government has started turning off the Internet and other means of communication, so it is difficult to get news out. Individuals on the ground have been sending their day-by-day reports to the BBC, and they are heartbreaking. I encourage you to read these accounts to see for yourself what is really going on in Burma. Please include this link in your own blog post.
The situation in Burma is increasingly dangerous. Hundreds of thousands of unarmed peaceful protesters, including monks and nuns, are risking their lives to march for democracy against an unpopular but well-armed military dictatorship that will stop at nothing to continue its repressive rule. While the generals in power and their families are literally dripping in gold and diamonds, the people of Burma are impoverished, deprived of basic human rights, cut off from the rest of the world, and increasingly under threat of violence.
This week the people of Burma have risen up collectively in the largest public demonstrations against the ruling Junta in decades. It’s an amazing show of bravery, decency, and democracy in action. But although these protests are peaceful, the military rulers are starting to crack down with violence. Already there have been at least several reported deaths, and hundreds of critical injuries from soldiers beating unarmed civilians to the point of death.
The actual fatalities and injuries are probably far worse, but the only news we have is coming from individuals who are sneaking reports past the authorities. Unfortunately it looks like a large-scale blood-bath may ensue — and the victims will be mostly women, children, the elderly and unarmed monks and nuns.
Contrary to what the Burmese, Chinese and Russian governments have stated, this is not merely a local internal political issue, it is an issue of global importance and it affects the global community. As concerned citizens, we cannot allow any government anywhere in the world to use its military to attack and kill peacefully demonstrating, unarmed citizens.
In this modern day and age violence against unarmed civilians is unacceptable and if it is allowed to happen, without serious consequences for the perpetrators, it creates a precedent for it to happen again somewhere else. If we want a more peaceful world, it is up to each of us to make a personal stand on these fundamental issues whenever they arise.
Please join me in calling on the Burmese government to negotiate peacefully with its citizens, and on China to intervene to prevent further violence. And please help to raise awareness of the developing situation in Burma so that hopefully we can avert a large-scale human disaster there.
(Times Online) Burma’s generals silenced the Buddhist monks yesterday morning.
For a week and a half, the monks had been on the streets of Rangoon in their tens of thousands, and their angry calm gave courage to the people around them.
But overnight, they were beaten, shot and arrested, and locked in their monasteries.
More:
YANGON, Myanmar (AP) - Soldiers clubbed activists in the streets and fired warning shots Friday, moving decisively to break up demonstrations in Myanmar before they could gain momentum. Troops occupied Buddhist monasteries and cut public Internet access, raising concerns that the crackdown on civilians that has killed at least 10 people was set to intensify.
If American interest in this story were to be judged by the blogosphere and other social media (digg, reddit, etc.), you might not even know what was going on there. Apparently the Left hasn’t figured out how to blame Bush for the crackdown yet.
But wait! Here’s an article about Burma that mentions Bush–I wonder how they’ll spin it?
YANGON, Myanmar - At least nine people, including a Japanese national, were killed Thursday when Myanmar soldiers fired on protesters, leading to new international condemnation that included U.S. economic sanctions against 14 military junta officials.
The U.S. Treasury Department said the action was being taken after President Bush on Tuesday announced the strategy before the U.N. General Assembly.
The action will freeze any assets that the targeted individuals have in U.S. banks or other financial institutions under U.S. jurisdiction. The order also prohibits any U.S. citizens from doing business with the designated individuals.
Bush himself issued a statement Thursday saying that “every civilized nation has a responsibility to stand up” to Myanmar’s regime.
Oh no! Warmonger!
In all seriousness, does anything matter to the media and the Left (I know, same thing) any more if it doesn’t serve as an indictment (in their small, confused minds) of the Bush administration?
Also see:
Lighting-up at the wheel has been added to the list of “distractions” which police and lawyers can cite in court when seeking a conviction for a traffic offence.
It joins eating and drinking, “inserting a cassette or CD or tuning a radio”, “arguing with your passengers or other road users”, trying to read maps, and - even playing loud music - most, if not all, of which have featured in successful prosecutions.
What. The. Hell!
I suppose this means using the Crackberry while driving would also be illegal? Can they even use a cell phone?
Is this for real?!
Literally.

You really have to see it in the larger size and read about it–the photographer “swears on his life” that this is real.
I was walking down the street looking for stuff to photograph and this guy is just sitting outside a coffee shop with this 80 year old woman and he is taking these little sofa things out of a bag. Then he opens another compartment in the bag and there are about five lizards like this guy. Then he would pose them and they would just sit there like this. Don’t really know why.
Think your commute sucks? This is insane.
Cool.
