God Bless the USA

I admit it, I’m not up to posting today thanks to Playstation giving me aching hands and arms. :heehee:
So…you get a half-assed Fourth of July-ish theme for today (hey, gimme a break, it’s just the WP Default with some little changes, and it’s just for one day). Thank God for Martin keeping this place going, right?!

If you’ve got five minutes, thank someone who carries on the tradition of those who fought for this nation’s independence. For all they do, it’s the least we can do to show our appreciation.
I know this song has become sort of a corny cliché to some, but I don’t care. I am thankful for and unabashedly corny as hell about America. I’m proud to be an American, and I’d proudly defend her still today. God bless the USA!

Happy Fourth Beth!
Martin says:
Is this a one-day theme, or a longer term theme, you theme-changing person?
I kinda likey.
Beth says:
Well, I can keep it up a little longer than just today, at least until someone sez it breaks in IE6 or something. Which I’m sure it will. :eyeroll:
I figured someone would like it–it’s less BUSY. Not to worry, one of these daze I’m gonna do a REAL new theme, which should work in all browsers and be very much slimmed down from teh Geek Girl one. And no pink.
Greta (Hooah Wife) says:
Love the new theme and love the round-up!
TheGayBlackJew says:
This song makes me sick. It’s blind and ignorant. It’s fluff. I used to be proud to be an American, but not anymore. Thanks to Bush (I mean Darth Cheney), globally, more people trust China and Russia than the U.S.
Is that something to be proud of? I think not. Look back at the Clinton years and no matter how much you may dislike him, the United States of America had a reputation to be proud of.
Torture: nothing gets more unamerican than that. Never before has a Vice President set up a large, separate department to gather and analyze intelligence (manipulate) apart from government intelligence agencies WHO KNEW WHAT THEY WERE DOING. I could go on and on, but most thinking Americans are well aware of the mess of incompetence this president is going to leave the next prez.
It makes me very unproud to be and American, when I’m an unemployed manic-depressive who is very certain that he is more intelligent than George W. Bush.
And Beth, if you read this, I enjoy blogs for opinion, but I resort to a mix of blogs that are businesses and basically journalists that are democrats: like TPM or ThinkProgress. Most blogs, IMHO, are a mix of opinion and links that support that opinion. When those links are to MSM or big blogs like TPM, I tend to respect them. But make no mistake, I’m a multi-media man.
Beth says:
Jeff/GBJ: I pity you.
Thatisall.

TGBW - Thanks for sharing. I just don’t get enough BDS reading HuffPo and Kos. (dripping sarcasm intended)
Meanwhile, may I recommend the following article? http://townhall.com/Columnists/ThomasSowell/2007/07/04/taking_america_for_granted

TGBJ… that has to be one of the single worst satire sites I have ever seen. No wonder you’re unemployed. Do us all a favor and double up on your meds.
JennSierra says:
I like your new layout. Miss the “banned in China” corner-banners though…I hope you add those back. I’m trying to get banned there, too, you know, and I’m going to wear mine proudly! :-)
Beth says:
Thanks, Jenn–it’s just temporary, though. Eventually (!) I’m going to do a whole new theme and the Banned in China/Banned in India banners will be back!

I love that song Beth. Thanks for posting it. And I add my voice to keep the new theme. I like it.
And TGBJ, you need help.
