I. Am. Furious.
I’m disgusted that this sick bastard’s crazy ranting “manifesto” gets airtime, but that’s not why I’m really furious. I am spitting mad because there were ALL these indications of his being batshi’ite crazy, and he still got guns. He still got the right to walk free. F–k that shi’ite.
I’m not going to rehash his filthy videos, pictures, or writings; you can find that anywhere if you haven’t seen it already. I just want to know how the hell he got guns. THIS is not what the laws we have are supposed to allow. THIS is what background checks ought to be finding–it’s not like there was nothing documented anywhere about the “imminent danger” he presented to himself and others. And before anyone starts spouting bullshi’ite at me about gun-grabbing, first let me say fark you. I’m a lifetime member of the NRA, and I plan on staying one. I believe in the right to bear arms, and that hasn’t changed a bit. What I do NOT believe in is a “right” for some crazy scumbag like Cho Seung-Hui getting them. So many people dropped the ball with this that it’s appalling he even had the opportunity do his evil.
The bastard lived with his parents when he wasn’t at school; did THEY know his mental state? How could they NOT know? If they did, how could they turn him loose at a university? I don’t know, he was 23 years old. I don’t know what they could do, but the State of Virginia knew he was crazy, the university knew–or should have known, considering the complaints and concerns raised about him, apparently everyone around him knew he wasn’t all there. How many others are out there with the same shi’ite going on as Cho? Thousands? Hundreds of thousands? You can see all of them all over the internet in various settings (look at any 9/11 conspiracy forum or any frothing-at-the-mouth angry atheist site, and it goes without saying, the “child-lovers,” for example). But thanks to the ACLU (of course!) and other “civil libertarians” for the criminally insane, they get to walk around among the rest of us without the responsibility to be a good citizen, a good neighbor. Bullshi’ite.
And now you have people blaming anti-depressants? Shi’ite, the problem is that he didn’t get enough treatment. That bastard I saw in the video wasn’t taking medication, and if he was, he wasn’t getting enough. I’ll bet that animal didn’t WANT to “be normal”–crazies like to condemn “normal” people as being zombies, drones, whatever, like they are more “alive” than the rest of us. What a bunch of horseshi’ite. They hate the “normal” people, they resent us for not worshipping their “specialness” and not understanding their insanity, they think they’re so special they go for the big headlines and make videos to send to NBC to show the world just how “special” they are.
If you ask me, if we are going to let these crazies run free, not forcing them to be institutionalized, then we need to goddamn well do a better job of protecting the public from them. There’s a reason why they used to be locked up, and it was to protect society. Virginia Tech totally dropped the goddamn ball with this guy; there’s no reason why they should have to educate dangerous people. I know, it’s all about wishy-washy liberal ideals–can’t deny someone with mental illness their “right” to a college education. “Diversity.” My ass. I hope the families of the dead victims sue the hell out of VT for letting this creep anywhere near their kids after all the concerns were raised by students and faculty. I hope they sue the state for letting him go when they had him. I know suing won’t bring their family members back, but maybe it’ll start people thinking about how to deal with lunatics a little better. You can bet if people are faced with multi-million dollar lawsuits, they’ll use their heads.
I’m sick and tired of these crazies and the shi’ite they do to other people. To hell with the simpering ACLU and all these ridiculous liberal idealists who want them to have “rights” like the rest of us without the responsibilities.

And do you know who cut back funding for mental institutions? Ronald Reagan the Reublican Party. Back in the 80s he gave the Rich a massive tax break. So that’s when all the nutcases started to appear on our streets. Not to mention that today’s NeoCons & RW Nuts want more tax breaks & they want their expensive & useless war in Iraq.
So ya get whatch pay for. More money in the pockets of rich, greedy execs & massive corporations means that social services suffer. Lotsa help for the rich and none for the greater society means more of these kinds of incidents are on the way.

Hey–y’know, I understand your anger. Like you, I think that guy should have killed himself instead killing as many as he could drag down with them. What he did was inexcusable.But at the same time, I can’t help but feel sorry for his family and the Korean-American community.Because I’m sure they feel the wrath of America coming down on them right now. Huh? I never blamed Koreans for this…? Actually, I do feel horrible for his family. I can’t even begin to imagine what they must be feeling. My guess is that they’ll probably leave the area they live in and try to start over, or something. I know the area where they live well, though (I used to live there), and they certainly won’t be singled out for being Korean. I don’t think *anyone* has made it a Korean issue at all, at least from what I’ve seen on teh internets, and I certainly hope nobody will.
That said, I’m not going to be gentle in what I have to say about Cho Seung-Hui (or Seung Hui Cho, as his family apparently prefers, or “Question Mark” ) just because he happens to be Korean! I don’t care what ethnicity or race he is, do you? Actually, I don’t even really consider him Korean or any race or ethnicity; he was a lower life form than an ANIMAL. Not worthy of racial or ethnic descriptors.

I have a phobia: I’m terrified of telephones. (Not seeing or handling them, but talking on them or pressing any of the buttons.)
That’s a mental illness. I’ve received some therapy; I can now (barely) manage to call people I know, though I still shake and sweat when I do.
I am not now, nor have I ever been, likely to kill someone because I’m afraid of telephones.
But I’m mentally ill. I have a phobia.
So, all you people out there who think the mentally ill should be locked away “for the safety of others” - should I be locked up?
There is no mental illness worse than the chronic lack of empathy displayed by you people. You should be the ones locked away - not me, not my depressed brother, not my schizophrenic friend.

I am ALL FOR background checks to prevent the dangerously (get that, Alix? DANGEROUSLY, not “phobic,” duh) mentally ill from getting weapons. NRA membership or not. It’s scum like Cho who do more damage to the right to bear arms than people like you do, who (presumably–correct me if I’m wrong) oppose the NRA and the 2nd Amendment. Anyone who thinks Cho should have had the right to a weapon is, in my opinion, frankly an idiot. That said, I haven’t seen anyone saying he SHOULD have had the right to it, either. Now that I’ve had time to reflect upon the events at Virginia Tech, I’m getting more convinced that while it doesn’t exhonerate him, Cho Seung Hui’s behavior may have been affected by the drugs he’d been taking. It’s somewhat notable that before he went on his shooting rampage, Cho took his regular dosage of medication. It appears that the drugs did nothing to alleviate his emotional illness, but only made him function better to become a more competent killer.
Regardless of racial/ethnic background of the killer, incidents such as these have been occuring at an increasing rate. Twenty-thirty years ago, we rarely heard of kids/young adults going on these killing rampages. Now they seem to be occuring with increasing regularly. What’s interesting about Cho’s mentors, the shooters at Columbine, is that they were also treated as children with drugs such as ritalin. Could it possibly be that drugs which were supposed to treat mental illness are only making matters worse? Here’s a link about other drug-related violent incidents:
