All it does is an SQL search and replace, so every time those characters come up in a database field, it uses what you have in that giganto-list of Hampster Dance icons. It was worth going to that page to read the people whining about the plugin not working.
I’d use a popular computer colloquialism, but I’m not sure they’d know what I meant.
