What use is the UN?

The UN manages to make itself look more supine and ineffectual as every day passes. Today they couldn’t even get a resolution passed condemning Iran, because Russia didn’t ‘want to take sides’.

Isn’t that the farking point?

    Totally agree with Martin about the UN being useless . Can anyone name one thing it has done in the last 10 years that improved the living conditions of any country , or done anything other than line their own pockets with ill gotten gains.The UN is a joke , and the jokes on the USA . Just think of what the USA could do with all the wasted “dues” on the UN . We could have brand new “Veterans” Hospitals in every state in the Union !!

    I hope a thoroughly researched & comprehensive book comes out soon, analyzing the UN’s history up to now, so that we can really get our heads around this joke of a world organization. Then we start putting pressure on our gubbimint to 1) stop funding the UN 2) get out, then kick them out of the US. I know, wishful thinking!!
    Shutting down the UN would solve whatever glowbull warming problems we have. 100 bazillion less tons of Hot Air & CO2, per annum.
    OTOH, NATO has been very successful, IMHO & may be a suitable replacement for the UN. I don’t think the world is ready for a UN type government. FWIW.
