It’s just a movie

The Iranians are throwing a hissy fit about 300.
Luckily, they’re not in any way paranoid.
Shamqadri was quoted as saying “following the Islamic Revolution in Iran, Hollywood and cultural authorities in the U.S. initiated studies to figure out how to attack Iranian culture,” adding “certainly, the recent movie is a product of such studies.”
Is he referring to that well-known Republican puppet, the NEA?
I think somebody might have insluted all of Islam!!!!!!!
Shamqadri, who is also a filmmaker, said that production of more domestic and artistic films which portray Iranian achievements is a proper response to movies like “300″.
Which ‘achievements’ would those be? Because since 1979 all that Iran has achieved is a slide toward the middle ages.

What they neglect to mention is that ‘300′ is by no means an accurate historical depiction of the battle or parties involved. It’s based off a graphic novel for Pete’s sake. :P

That’s what’s really hilarious–the fact that it’s not intended to be a freaking documentary. And have you noticed how the mullahs’ friends (the American Left) are pretty much saying the same thing as they are? I wish I could remember where I saw it pointed out (LGF?), but the mouth-breathers at Alternet compared it to Triumph of the Will!

OMFG. It’s homophobic, too!

It never ceases to amaze me how much of the population gets their “information” about the world from popular entertainment.
I think one of the major cultural themes
of this era is the blurring of the worlds of reality and fantasy. Why do people have to take movies so seriously? Is it because
they are out of touch with reality?

I agree. I look forward to another Shamqadri Studios production.
I have been a huge fan of his ever since he came out with the epic love story, “Touched By A Mullah”, in the late 1980’s.
He kept me wanting more after the film version of the classic Muslim coming-of-age book, “Tales of a 4th Grade Genital Mutilation.”
And although I found his collaboration with Disney on “The Lion King IV: Pumba Must Die” a bit predicatable, overall it was a quality effort.

Reminds of “Monty Python & The Holy Grail”. All the knights dancing and singing when they reach the outskirts of Camelot.
“Camelot!”
“Camelot!”
“Camelot!”
Then Terry Gilliam grumbles, “It’s only a model.”
