The NRSC PLEDGE

OK, that pledge I posted? You can sign it online at The Truth Laid Bear, and the NRSC will be notified. And since it’s online, so will anyone who cares–i.e., others on the Hill that are watching. And they ARE watching.
Please also make sure to call your Senator directly and express your views. In addition, we suggest you contact the following key Senators:
Senator McConnell, Lott and Kyl are the three senior GOP senators. Try each of their offices at 202-225-3121.
Senator Ensign is chair of the National Republican senatorial Committee. His number is 202-675-6000.
The senators most likely to rethink their support for such a resolution after the testimony by General Petraeus that such a resolution would be an encouragement to our enemy are Minnesota’s Norm Coleman, Maine’s Susan Collins and Oregon’s Gordon Smith. All three are serious senators and good people, but they need to rethink possible support for the resolution in light of the Petraeus testimony and the president’s speech last night. Senator Coleman’s office number is (202) 224-5641. Senator Smith’s office number is (202) 224-3753. Senator Collins’ office number is (202) 224-2523.
This matters, y’all. This isn’t just about supporting Bush; it’s about showing the Iraqis that we are not weak-kneed, fair-weather friends to those who need our help, and that we aren’t afraid to do what it takes to get the job done. Y’all know that’s what those serving in uniform are waiting for, because they aren’t going all wobbly. It’s their lives on the line. Too bad some in the Senate place their own “political survival” higher in their priorities than the actual lives of our troops and our national security.
Again, The Pledge reads:
If the United States Senate passes a resolution, non-binding or otherwise, that criticizes the commitment of additional troops to Iraq that General Petraeus has asked for and that the president has pledged, and if the Senate does so after the testimony of General Petraeus on January 23 that such a resolution will be an encouragement to the enemy, I will not contribute to any Republican senator who voted for the resolution. Further, if any Republican senator who votes for such a resolution is a candidate for re-election in 2008, I will not contribute to the National Republican Senatorial Committee unless the Chairman of that Committee, Senator Ensign, commits in writing that none of the funds of the NRSC will go to support the re-election of any senator supporting the non-binding resolution.
* Please pass the word on this! * Send it in email, and if you have a blog, post it!

A Pledge worth taking!
A pledge worth taking if you care about national security. From Hugh Hewitt: If the United States Senate passes a resolution, non-binding or otherwise, that criticizes the commitment of additional troops to Iraq that General Petraeus has asked for and…

I retrieved a letter (from the RNC)from the trash that had a postage paid envelope and a lett requesting my annual membership dues. I copied the pledge and enclosed it in the postage paid (nice red) envelope with a large note in red, ‘This is my current and future membership dues’ and sealed it up. I will be in the mail tomorrow.
Scrapiron says:
It will be in the mail. Anyway the republicans have figured out a sure way to maintian they’re minority position for years.

Take the pledge
On a more serious note than I usually sound around here, Beth over at My Vast Right Wing Conspiracy wants Republicans to sign the following pledge:

Who created this Pledge Website at http://truthlaidbear.com/thenrscpledge/???? I’d like to help out by spiceing it up with some AJAX so that the pledge count increments without having to refresh the web page.
