I think the Iranian loon is scaring the Saudis

Which would be a good thing.
Iran has effectively created a Shi’ite “state within a state” in neighboring Iraq, defying both Iraqi Sunnis and neighboring Sunni nations, according to a Saudi security report.
The Saudis are not lovers of the Shia. Obviously their virulent Wahhabi strain of the Sunni sect and the virulent strain of Shia promulgated by the Iranians are not compatible. It’s like the Catholicism of the IRA and the Protestantism of the UFF. They just don’t….get along.
I’m guessing Ahmadinejad is starting to worry power players in the region, who collectively have a veritable orchard of money trees (Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, UAE et al). Mahmoud’s offer to share nuclear technology with Kuwait was a calculated effort to divide these four states, and buy himself a little time until the Israel-ender is complete. I think the Kuwaitis will politely decline.
I don’t think the Saudis are anxious for a nuclear winter in their backyard, and if we disappear and let Iran subdue the region, that’s what is on the cards. Remember, these farking psychos don’t mind dying. But the 4,000 Princes in Saudi Arabia are not anxious to sacrifice their life of whores and coke and casinos and yachts in the name of an Allah they worship in only a superficial and perfunctory sense.
NOW is the time for the Saudis to step up, and I think Cheney’s visit to King Abdullah may have included an offer he couldn’t refuse. Where Saudi goes, the others will follow. (They’ve got a farking majestic air force by the way).

We should be encouraging Saudis and Iranians to send their zealots to kill each other. Diplomacy only prevents this.
