Oopsie! Harry Reid ‘overlooks’ he sold a piece of land for $400k. Must be nice.
Dull-as-dishwater Harry Reid, a poor and incredibly dull and venomous kid from Lightsaber, Nevada, accidentally sold a piece of land to an LLC owned by a friend, and profited to the tune of $700,000 when the land was later re-sold. He accidentally reported it as a personal sale (it wasn’t) in the official Senate register of ‘dirty deeds done dirt cheap’.
He hung up on the AP when asked about it, and now? All a silly little misunderstanding, nothing at all to see here. Move along. His office have a pretty credible narrative though:
They also said they have no documents proving Reid’s stake in the company because it was an informal understanding between friends.
See? Just a little million dollar ‘understanding between friends’. I’ve got tons of them, haven’t you?
If the GOP do not PILE THE FARK ON, starting tomorrow at 6am, then they deserve the drubbing that’s looking likelier by the day on November 7th. They should accuse him of everything short of highway robbery.

While the “informal understanding between friends” line does seem a little suspect (although it might not if I had $400,000 to spend on land) I don’t think there is much for the GOP to gain out of this. Unless their is some big revelation, this will be a one or two day story with no political consequences. The land was sold at market value and it does not appear at this time that the Senator used any influence to gain money. You say he was lackluster in reporting or not good with his records, but it dosen’t appear to be illegal.

Not buying, sorry. Reid made no effort to report the transaction accurately, perhaps because his partner is a casino lawyer with multiple and increasing appearances in bribery cases. Whether he knew all the details is irrelevant. Imagine what they’d do with it.
Reid is connected to a crook, via a shady land deal. The media might try and quash it, but we shouldn’t play along. We’re in a serious election fight here, and all is fair in love and war. And election politics.

Imagine if the tables were turned and it was a GOPer. Every paper in America would have it blazened across the front page. The left would be screaming about it from the rooftops. They would crying for an investigation and someone’s head on a platter.
It is time the GOP stand up and deliver a big smackdown to the Dems. Demand that Reid resign. Start asking for Pelosi’s resignation. Whatever. Make it a front burner issue on character. Pour some gas on it.

Well I think the media did a pretty good job of covering the Rep. with his money in the freezer. To some extent the GOP would bear a little heavier burden right now, but only because of Abramoff, Delay, Cunningham, etc… If it was 1998 the Democrats would have fared worse.

I’ve found on the net copies of Reid and Reid family real estate transactions. When transfering property that Reid owned with his wife to the Reid family trust, there were no transfer taxes…because the property was not changing ownership.
When the Reids sold the property to Patrick Lane LLC, did they pay the transfer tax.
If the tax was paid on this transaction it would tell me that Reid wanted plausible deniability. If someone had accused him of a sweetheart payoff land deal…he could say “I sold that land, and didn’t make a dime profit. There is not a shred of evidence to prove other wise.”
