Border Fence monkey-business?
Hmmm. Mickey Kaus reckons President Bush and Congress might have pulled a fast one with the Border Fence - meaning, a) there isn’t going to be a border fence, and/or b) that Bush will quietly exercise is quietly exercising the ‘pocket veto’.
That signing ceremony he held last Wednesday in Arizona, it turns out, was only for a Homeland Security appropriations bill that included “$1.2 billion for border fencing.” It wasn’t the Secure Fence Act.
Allah is vowing to vote straight Democratic ticket next month if Bush vetoes the Secure Fence Act. I’m sure not many will go that far, but the GOP will certainly lose both houses of Congress if they have tried to dupe the American people with what looks like a pretty straightforward charade. I’d be all over this if I was Democrat.

Howard Larson says:
So what’s the Secure Fence Act? Not the same as the bill signed?
I’m not paying proper attention…
Martin says:
Nope. The Secure Fence Act (that none of them wanted) hasn’t been signed. They appropriated the money and also gutted the bill’s major accomplishment - an actual fence.
