How to deal with terrorism

As Misha said, “Yes, it really is that simple.” (Via Kat.)

And now, for the long version. Misha also links to a couple posts by Banagor:
The Power of Ignorance

There is an unspoken thing in the air in the West: acknowledgment of what it takes to actually win a war. Nobody will talk about it. The few who do are labeled as “warmongers”, or “barbarians” who have yet to come out of their caves from the mid-twentieth century when people apparently “did such things” as fight “in that way”. We all know what it would take to placate the Middle East, but nobody wants to actually dirty their hands, or their speech, by stating it. We worry about what the enemy thinks of us and try to win their “hearts and minds” before we actually win the war. We worry about upsetting people who are already out to kill us in every way possible, as if we can somehow appease them into killing us a little more slowly. Or, perhaps, some people think that they don’t really mean what they say, and chalk the whole thing up to some sort of exotic cultural rhetoric.

And then, the followup: The Face of a New God

There is no peace in the world. There has never been any peace in the world. There will never be peace in the world. Peace is inimical to nature. One might as well ask “Why can’t animals stop killing each other for food?” for all the good that wish would bring. They are the words of children at play who are taught to live by certain rules because their understanding of the world is so limited. “Peace” is not something you can wish for and expect to get. You might as well try to wish away criminals and violent crime. Or then again, you might as well try to wish away the Neville Chamberlains of the world as well.

I’ve given up wishing on that last one. The idiots have won this fight for the Islamists. Perhaps not today, or tomorrow, but they have. Until the day that I see the bombers leaving out en masse to take care of business where it is needed most, and not relent until the job is done, then that will be my opinion on the matter. We’ve lost this war, and Iran and the other Muslim nations know it.

:sigh: I know the feeling. I get the sense lately that everyone does, but few are willing to face what it’ll take to end the war–and those who scream for “peace” are the least willing to do what it takes to END it. Now go back and read the post at Hurricane Harry’s again.

I’ll go out on a limb and say “let’s roll.” No, wait. No need for euphemisms. Nuke ‘em, if that’s what it takes. And yes, I am serious. Unlike so many other friggin’ bloggers and pundits, I’m not going to pretend I’m a military strategist, so don’t ask me “who/where” do you nuke? I don’t know, hit Fallujah again. Baghdad. Kabul. Teheran. Riyadh, for all I care. Get our men and women out of the way and let ‘em have it. Note that I said “if that’s what it takes.” It may not take that, but it’s going to take a whole lot bigger can of Raid than the one we’ve been using to eliminate the c*ckroaches.

I really couldn’t care less if moonbats want to come around with their tired old ad hominems because they think war is “wrong.” F–k ‘em. Their opinions are honestly irrelevant; they’re in league with the enemy, whether they admit it or not. I don’t care what a terrorist’s opinion is of our military strategy, and I don’t care about what their allies’ opinions are either. The “antiwar” voices have absolutely zero credibility. I wish our leaders would stop caring what the reflexively “antiwar” crowd and the stupid UN says, and just go ahead and execute the plans, finish the war. I want the war to end, I want our troops to come home, I want a secure America and a secure future. But I’m not stupid enough to think that can be done with no blood being shed. Let it be the other side’s blood. Every day we put off finishing the job is another day that American lives are lost.
