How’s this for a fake?

All credit to Bilby, who pointed out in comments here what everyone else missed except for Kathryn Lopez (she may have gotten tipped by Bilby–I haven’t heard yet):

The caption reads: “A Lebanese man runs away from the burning ruins of a building destroyed during an overnight Israeli air raid on Beirut’s suburbs August 5,2006. Many buildings were flattened during the attack.
REUTERS/Adnan Hajj”

Okay, makes sense for someone to run from a burning building that’s just been attacked. But the destruction came from “an overnight” air raid. But the picture, clearly, was taken during daylight hours.

Damn right! As Bilby said, “Well, you and some people at Free Republic were concentrating on pixels and potential photoshops when the most important aspects relate to the caption on the photo.” Right in front of my damn face! HA!

Of course, I can’t find the photo on the wires right now…still looking…because Reuters?/Yahoo News seems to have pulled it or something, presumably because Reuters canned Adnan Hajj. Here’s the link for now, but I’ll keep updating this.

Here’s where I raised the issue. I know this is garbled, but I haven’t slept for shi’ite.

UPDATE @22:43 - Found it. Click the photo for full-size.

A Lebanese man runs away from the burning ruins of a building destroyed during an overnight Israeli air raid on Beirut\'s suburbs August 5,2006. Many buildings were flattened during the attack. (Adnan Hajj/Reuters)

So if the building was destroyed overnight, why IS he running away? He sure as hell doesn’t look to me like he was IN the building; I’d expect a little dirt or dust or something. Not a clean white hat, at the very least. And the point is, why is he “running away” hours after the building was destroyed overnight? That’s some pretty misleading copy (also known as “bullshi’ite”), wouldn’t you say?

Here’s the photo enlarged and cropped:

Adnan Hajj - Reuters photo

It may NOT be a photoshop job, like Bilby said. I’m no Photoshop pro (obviously). Whether it is or not photoshopped, I say that the caption with the photo is FALSE.

UPDATE again, because Vinnie makes a point that goes with this BS’d caption issue. Read.
