Israel has launched night air strikes on bridges and roads in southern Lebanon, as the search goes on for two soldiers seized by Hezbollah militants.

Israel has filed a complaint with the United Nations, urging the Security Council to enforce resolutions calling on the Lebanese government to disarm militias and extend its authority throughout its territory.

And what, pray tell, do you think the UN will do?

UN Secretary General Kofi Annan both condemned Israel’s Lebanon offensive and called for the soldiers’ release.

Does he understand these are ‘acts of war’? How can you condemn an act of war (abducting a foreign soldier), and also condemn the legitimate response to said act? You cannot recognize an act of war, and simultaneously condemn a military response. It’s a non sequitur.

    Let’s call it what it is. Hezbollah launched an unprovoked attack on Israel hoping to take advantage of the Gaza situation. Unfortunately for them it has backfired.
