Correction, etc.

Thanks to commenter Chancuff for the heads-up on this:

Correction: An article in Sunday’s editions misinterpreted a comment from U.S. Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa., at a town hall meeting in North Miami on Saturday. In his speech, Murtha said U.S. credibility was suffering because of continued U.S. military presence in Iraq ,and the perception that the U.S. is an occupying force. Murtha was citing a recent poll, by the Pew Global Attitudes Project, that indicates a greater percentage of people in 10 of 14 foreign countries consider the U.S. in Iraq a greater danger to world peace than any threats posed by Iran or North Korea.

I have to say, though–it’s funny how OUTRAGED! the lefty blogosphere is about this, considering how reporters are considered by them to be “unbiased” and never inject their personal opinions into the news. Elizabeth Baier got it wrong, as do so many others, and to the Sun-Sentinel’s credit, they corrected it. I’d love for the NY Slimes and the AP and al-Reuters (et cetera ad nauseum) to correct their stuff masquerading as “reporting.”

As regular readers of this blog know, I was away from home for two days. In other words, I wasn’t reading blogs or the newspapers online–not even my own blog. I got back last night to a slew of obnoxious crap from drive-by trolls DEMANDING I retract/correct my post, and infuriated that I hadn’t done so yet (fark ‘em, I’m not allowing demanding children to leave comments on this blog–they obviously haven’t read my “policy” on what I write about). TOUGH CRAP. According to one (unlinked) person there were over 400 blogs (I haven’t looked to check THAT stat, and don’t care to) who also linked to Elizabeth Baier’s story. Yet I’m supposed to interrupt my personal time away to follow their demands? So are you toddlers happy now? I’ll give credit to “chancuff” for the lead, because that was the first I’d heard of it–last night.

Here’s what I emailed (with a cc: to chancuff) to one of the demanding children, who linked to my original post:

So tell me, Joe Schmo, why the fark should I give a shi’ite what YOU have “in your story?”

Let me tell YOU something YOU don’t know: I just walked in the door about an hour ago and turned on the computer to see if there were comments sitting in moderation, after a two-day out of town trip (which is even noted in my post!). WHEN I AM ATTENDING TO IMPORTANT PERSONAL BUSINESS, I DON’T GIVE A FLYING FARK ABOUT MY OWN BLOG, MUCH LESS ANYONE ELSE’S.

YES, I do give permission to copy my email, but not my email address or IP. (You will regret publishing the email address/IP if you do, I can assure you.)

I am not–REPEAT, NOT–in the mood (ever) to listen to some piddling pipsqueak tell me what I should write about and when, especially WHEN I AM NOT EVEN READING MY OWN BLOG, AND NEEDLESS TO SAY NOT "WORKING ON A STORY." I take the integrity of my site seriously, even if it’s not a "serious" site–but it is NOT my LIFE.

Answer this: Do YOU go and fact-check EVERY single thing you read in a newspaper that has a paid editorial staff? FARK YOU and your "didn’t do your homework," you little anonymous chicken-blogger nobody. No, I am not going to waste my bandwidth on you by posting a link to your crap, because you’re OBVIOUSLY looking for a traffic boost (nice link-whoring attempt in the comments, too!). Go play your amateurish games with people who like to entertain twits like you with "blog vs. blog" battles; I have things to do that are FAR more important to me than wasting my bandwidth on people who play those silly games.

And by the way, you might want to check your own errors first. You pretend to “quote” my post, but you didn’t even quote the text properly! ANYONE who knows my blog (or anyone who knows me at all!) KNOWS there is no "sic" in what I write. Look at the cached copy if you want, as well. You copied it wrong! HAHAHAHAHA! Moron! You want to nitpick about something I quoted from a reporter (with an editor!) who misquoted someone else? Hey, you got the actual words from the actual source, and STILL managed to screw that up!

F–k you very much,

Beth

P.S. John Murtha can go fark himself in his own "fat ass." That Murthafarker has got a hell of a lot more apologizing to do than ANY farking blogger does, EVEN YOU. Did it occur to you WHY so many believed Elizabeth Baier’s account?

[Chancuff: I appreciate you bringing the misquote to my attention, but I had only read it since I've been HOME.]

Let me repeat something: Did it occur to anyone WHY so many believed Elizabeth Baier’s account of the story? Why it’s easy to believe Murtha would say such a thing? Look at the context–he’s citing these polls to support some idea, isn’t he?

Now watch: Idiotarians will consider this error as exoneration for everything Murtha’s ever said and done with which WE take issue. I don’t even care–they’re free to believe what they want, but SO AM I. I stand by the POINT of my original post, with that short quote considered “corrected,” because there are reams of other things Murtha’s said that I could use.

Final note: to the drive-by troll who tried to leave a comment (yours got caught in the spam sweep, sorry–waaah) saying:

God bless America and our great troops (and please stop using them to make your point while sitting on your fat ass).

Take a look at who writes at this site, you stupid little farktard. Two of the writers have been in Iraq during OIF, one quite recently; I was medically retired from the military ten years ago (and have been to Iraq myself, during Operation Provide Comfort), another served in the UK military before he became a US citizen, and another served in the US Navy. Go fark yourself. But yes, God bless America and our great troops, especially in the face of obnoxious jerks like you and John Murtha.

I STG, assclown useful idiot trolls have a lot of farking nerve.

Maybe if Murthaf**ker doesn’t want to be misquoted, he should stop his passive-aggressive bulls**t of hiding behind opinion polls to express what are clearly his own beliefs.

“Oh, I don’t think it about America– no! no! no!– but everybody else does.”

Kiss my ass, Murtha. You are yet another laughingstock of history.

Heh. My double asterisks activated the Markdown. I guess I ought to know that it’s more polite to to cuss here than to use HTML.

I *despise* Markdown. I’d disable it except I’d end up farking up all the old posts for which I lazily used it for lists!

And you are EXACTLY right about Murthafucker being misquoted because of his use of polls that support his obvious position.

Please read the following IN BOLD VERY CAREFULLY, if you value what we’re doing in any way, shape or form.

I’M JUST THE FORREST GUMP (SOME WOULD SAY ANDY GUMP) IN ALL THIS.

THIS IS NOT ABOUT ME. ANY TIME SPENT ACKNOWLEDGING ME COULD BE PUT TO MUCH BETTER USE ACTING ON THE REQUEST BELOW. YOU CAN SMILE AT YOUR OWN SMARTS IN FIGURING OUT WHAT ALL THIS HAS ALWAYS BEEN ABOUT WELL IN ADVANCE OF MAIN STREAM MEDIA FOLKS.

ALL THIS IS SOLELY ABOUT WHAT “THE WORLD OF JOURNALISM IS NOT FLAT, TOO” WANTS TO ACCOMPLISH, ASAP.

    EVERYTHING ELSE IS SECONDARY.

HERE’S WHAT’S IMPORTANT. FOLLOW YOUR OWN “INVESTIGATIVE REPORTING”, SEE OF YOU FIND MORE MISBEHAVIOURS. WE HAVE A LOT WITH REGARDS TO FIRST “THE SHOT HEARD AROUND THE WORLD”, THAT GOT REPEATED EVERYWHERE.

If you find another MAIN STREAM MEDIA SOURCE that turns that FIRST PARAGRAPH INTO A DIRECT QUOTE ATTRIBUTED TO MURTHA, DO EITHER A SCREEN CAPTURE OR CACHE COPY (PREFERABLY BOTH). I’LL TELL YOU WHAT TO DO WITH IT, BELOW.

WE NEED MORE THAN JUST “GOT YA!” SAMPLES, WE NEED EDITORS TO STUDY THESE REPORTS CAREFULLY BEFORE THEY GET SENT TO US. THIS WILL KEEP OUR FOCUS ON THE HUNT AND NOT BE WASTING TIME SHUFFLING THROUGH EMAILS THAT DO NOT PROVIDE SOUND DOCUMENTATION OF THE PARTICULAR MISBEHAVIOR BEING REPORTED.

We already know that the site drudgereport originally linked to, http:// http://www.drudgereportarchives….0625_183801.htm
at the Arizona star, has not changed their page, though I a significant editor there sent me an email saying it would be changed as soon as it was proven false. This is the kind of stuff that will be very helpful.

Sending links to sites as you found them, is useless. You must do a “save as” of the page, or a FULL SCREEN CAPTURE OF THAT PAGE. You’d be surprised at how stuff on a particular page you think is insignificant, is not. Get all that you can.

Here’s what to do with your evidence. Create an email with your evidence and commentary of what you’ve found, and attached files of your the related screen captures/cache files, then email them … to yourself. This will give you a tidy package to forward to us. We will have an email address for you to send these to in a few days. When we do, I will publish that all over the blog space.

The game’s afoot. (”pin the tail on the donkey”)

Looking at the large number of blog posts I’ve placed throughout the blogsphere in the last 2 weeks, I’m sure I’m not alone in thinking they look like spam.

    My apologies to all.

Some interesting things happened yesterday. I received an email response from Bill Pasco(e) of Diana Irey’s campaign responding to the letter I wrote Ms Irey.

In responding Mr. Pascoe’s email, I found it useful to CC that response to him to Elizabeth Baier and her editor Ms. Rosenhause (Managing Editor Sun-Sentinel).

The topic of those emails was “Rovian Architecture Unplugged”. If you are interested to learn more, feel free to write them.

Make “Rovian Architechure Unplugged” your subject heading so they know what your inquiry is about.

Despite an email warning to Mr. Pasco to contact Sharon Rosenhause, Managing Editor at the Sun-Sentinel, irey.com continues to maintain this page.

“Is Murtha channeling Marty McFly? Congressman’s June 27 press release magically includes information from … June 28?”

    http://www.irey.com/news/Read.aspx?Id=61

In my email exchange with Mr. Pasco yesterday he attempted to float this clever headline with me in an email. I responded to him with this:

If you really want to follow this “rapid crash journalism” course of action of yours, let me assist you in doing so properly. This is John Murtha’s original press release issued by Cindy Abram on June 27th.

    http://theinfozone.net/PDFfiles/MurthaPressRelease.pdf

You can understand why Cindy Abram updated Mr. Murtha’s press release from the 27th now, I presume. After all, most would conclude that the Sun-Sentinel, who created this mess to start with, was in a better position to fix what Elizabeth Baier broke than theinfozone.net.

Please note: Ms. Baier as well as her editor Ms. Rosenhause are recipients of this email.

Mr Pasco(sic), perhaps they will be gracious enough to assist you towards a more lucid understanding of your “Marty McFly” insight.

Apparently Mr. Bill Pascoe puts more faith in continuing his slander strategy than makes sense.

Ms Rosenhause has her own special part in this. The Sun-Sentinel has removed their retraction … the correction that rewrote the “the shot heard around the world” first paragraph. The Sun-Sentinel has suddenly placed it in their paid archives, removing it from public domain. The only way you will find the unethical rewrite (still in public domain) is through google cache. You may wish to contact her as well.

For the sake of clarity, inquiries regarding THIS turn of events should include the Subject Line: Mr. Bill
