Terror raid in Miami

The group has been under surveillance for some time and was infilitrated by a government informant who allegedly led them to believe he was an Islamic radical, a Justice Department official said.
The group had expressed interest and discussed bombing targets in Miami and the Sears Tower in Chicago, sources familiar with the investigation said.
Sources say the arrests reflect the government’s concern about so-called “homegrown terrorists.” It’s a threat FBI Director Robert Mueller discussed during a recent speech in New York.
WASHINGTON - U.S. intelligence and law enforcement authorities are discovering new home-grown cells of Islamist radicals in the United States that draw inspiration and moral support from al Qaeda, officials said on Tuesday.
Like local terrorism cells that have recently come to light in Canada and Europe, officials said the groups are comprised of disaffected young men in their teens and 20s who rely on the Internet to try to organize and plan potential attacks on the U.S. homeland.
Concern about attacks inside the United States gathered pace after the arrest earlier this month in Canada of 17 men — all Canadian citizens or residents — accused of planning al Qaeda-inspired attacks across densely populated southern Ontario.
Why is this a new concern? It’s not new to me. There have been plenty of people who have talked/written about “homegrown terrorists” for years. Just to start with, Steve Emerson. Or this “Terrorist Hunter.” Or Daniel Pipes. Plenty of bloggers know it, too. And what about the Muslim Brotherhood?
And I have to ask, WTF?
The men — part of a radical Black Muslim group — were planning terror acts in Miami and Chicago, officials say.
So what’s the point–that because they’re “radical BLACK Muslims,” they’re not “real” terrorists? Because they’re American? I don’t care if they’re black, white, pink, green, whatever–they’re radical Muslims. Islamic terrorists. No need to qualify it.
