Bad Behavior Upgrade

- Trackback spam is pretty much dead. If you see a trackback spam get past Bad Behavior, I want to know about it.
- Bad Behavior is stopping 99% or more of comment spam and an unknown amount of automated wiki vandalism. (I have no chicken to measure it.)
- A check which required waiting five seconds before submitting POST requests has been removed. While it showed some benefit in stopping spam, it was unduly interfering with legitimate activity.
- A check for misconfigured proxy servers has been disabled. While it blocked quite a bit of spam, it also blocks many corporate and government users, not to mention the entire country of Singapore. This appears to be a Microsoft ISA Server bug or misconfiguration, and when someone tells me how to fix it, this check will be re-enabled.
- Several additional checks for spam and malicious activity have been added.
- Database logging has been revamped, and the verbose option reinstated. When verbose is off, only blocked requests and some suspicious requests will be logged. On most requests, with verbose option off, Bad Behavior will make only one database query (to retrieve its settings).
- On WordPress, the administrative screen has been expanded. You can now turn verbose mode logging on or off from this screen.
- Once again, strangely enough it seems to be even faster than previous versions.
- This will NOT work if you use GoDaddy for hosting. GoDaddy sucks!
- ExpressionEngine: Targeted for next alpha/beta release.

I shouldn’t do this without permission, but WTF. Enjoy this pic of Beth and the little princess I took in Tallahassee.
UPDATE : So I don’t keep setting off the spam detector, and get Beth mad at me  I want to explain why I use the USXX  as an example so much.
Basically it’s what I know, but more importantly it gives voice to conservatives who see the fight as one small chink in the armour of the left at a time. Whew, kind of wordy.
What that means is that the conservative movement will stall if all we do is talk in big, grand terms. Sure I believe them but we have to point out ALL the little things that take aim at the left’s assertions. The MARADMIN below is one small piece of the big picture. If things were as bad as the left says then why are the services meeting goals? You would think that people would be sick of deploying and would get out. Constantly packing your bags and leaving home for seven to 12 months at a time gets old. I can’t stand it myself. So, it stands to reason that even the most dedicated service member would leave. But that’s not happening. What does that tell you? The guard may be a different animal since, for all practical purposes, it’s a part time job, meaning they have other jobs that put the food on the table. Those folks have a big reason not to want to be away for a long time. BUT…..they do it. Why?
If we make these little points, using what we see and know, the average american will catch on, and see the oppostion’s arguments for what they are.

At first I thought this might be the best argument ever against virginity, but Bernie at Planck’s Constant says it should be required viewing for stupid MySpace teenagers who are prone to running off to the Middle East. He’s got a good point, since Islam is bullshi’ite anyway. And why the hell would Muslim women go to get operations to “regain” their “virginity” when being a sex slave to filthy terrorists is their reward? Seems pretty stupid, if you ask me–but then like I said, Islam is bullshi’ite. Funny how none of them can logically answer that little drawback to virginity.
Linking this loaded-titled-post to Argghhh! & basil & Mudville & Blue Star Chronicles. Check out their roundups around the internets!
And what the hell, this will be an OPEN POST HERE, too. Link to this post and send a trackback if you have something to share.
I’ve just spent the last hour trying to get barely enough of a connection to the internets to post something, and now I am just going to say farkit. I’ll post something later of substance when things are working better and I don’t have to pull my hair out to link to other stuff.
(PLEASE don’t tell me to get cable; I tried it and it doesn’t work (long story). This and dial-up are my only options. I’m not asking for suggestions, thanks.)
Random thoughts:
Can’t link to shi’ite, but Japan’s PM Koizumi has a new fan in me. I’m not a big Elvis fan–I used to have a bumper sticker that had his face on it, captioned with “I’m Dead.” And my appreciation for kitsch means I have a refrigerator magnet with the Nixon-Elvis picture. But Koizumi’s unabashed love for something so quintessentially AMERICAN just won me over. How can you not adore a guy who’s so unself-conscious? It’s part of the reason why I think Bush is cool–he’s not self-conscious, not full of himself. Very cool, PM Koizumi, you have a new fan. It’s funny how just a couple generations ago we were at war with Japan, and now they’re one of our greatest allies.
The news about John Couey pisses me off. Those cops who screwed up ought to be shot. OK, not shot, but you know what I mean–I’m hella pissed. I can’t imagine Couey’s going to get off completely, but if he does, I fully support vigilante justice for him. Bury that piece of shi’ite alive–it’s a more just sentence for him, anyway.
Finally, in Islamotard news: they still suck. What else is there to say? Every single day there’s some bullshi’ite out of them. I expect Osama bin Laden will be making YouTube videos one of these days for the little jihadi kiddies on there. Anyone else think bin Laden has been putting out more crap lately because he “needs” to keep his retarded goat-farking mujaheddin motivated?
If you want something else to read, since I’m not even going to bother trying to click anything right now on my blogroll, go down to my blogroll, hit the Cotillion one, and check out my buds. There’s even a public Bloglines link in there to make it easy. I know they’re talking about all the stuff going on, because for a few minutes some of my email came in OK (I gave up after it got hung up).
OK, crossing my fingers now to see if this will actually post….
UPDATE: back to “normal” (connection sucks a little less) now, links added.

For showing the world how you deal with Hamas/Al Qaeda/Hizbollah/Islamic Jihad et al:
Israeli officials tell the New York Times the arrests “indicated a significant change in Israel’s policy toward the Hamas government. The seizures are partly intended to warn Hamas leaders that they could lose their power and liberty, if not their lives, unless they act to release a captured Israeli soldier, a senior Israeli military official said.
For every day the soldier is not released, they should cut off the hands and feet of five Hamas leaders. I wonder how many days before he’d be returned. Not too many I would wager.
The Jerusalem Post reports Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak has reached a deal with Hamas leaders for a conditional release of the soldier, but Israeli government sources tell the paper they don’t have details of the proposal.
Yesterday Hamas claimed not to know of the soldier’s whereabouts, and now they’re doing a deal with Mubarak for his release?
You cannot trust any of these people. Build the wall, let them starve.
F–king stupid monkeys.
Ps. Writing in Phoenix, AZ, where it’s 815am and already seriously hot. Saw wildfires out of the plane window yesterday PM.

A few quick links to post for the morning, because I’ll be sleeping when you read this.
Wade Zirkle and David Bellavia are back from Iraq; if you haven’t been keeping up with their reports from Ramadi, Iraq, go and catch up. Don’t forget to join Vets for Freedom while you’re there!
Not only is The Jawa Report back, but Vinnie and Merri are back home from their vacation in Florida. I’m thinking Vinnie shut down Jawa himself while he was away, although he claims otherwise.
Now if we could just get Aaron to revive the cc: …I guess he’s enjoying the break. (Can’t say I blame him!)
Non-home sweet home link (well, sorta, ’cause it’s from an Alabama blog), but I have to include it! Where the hell is Clay finding all this weirdness??? Yesterday, Cuddle Parties, today, hiccup-lovers? HA!
See ya on the swing shift!

Worst “music” EVER, highlighted in the Thursday Vent. With that, and the new Osama bin Laden video, I have a headache and I’m going to BED.
On to something a little lighter, because it’s Friday and I’m sick of Islamotards.
Not as bad as jihad-rap, but maybe worse than Shatner: Spock’s Ballad of Bilbo Baggins???
Not bad enough for you? How about Paris Hilton?
OK, if you endured that pile of shi’ite, here’s a cool video. Coast to coast in four minutes!
Between that video and this one, my recent too-short road trip, and the Islamotards, I think I’ve got a bit of summer wanderlust going on. I think I need to hit the road again soon.

I just upgraded to the latest Bad Behavior (beta) release. If you see anything wonky, let me know!
Here’s the Bad Behavior page, if you want to get it for spam blocking.
Here’s a quick rundown of the changes:
A couple other noteworthy things:
I will be so happy to see it working on EE, so I can get it implemented for Sondra!
Finally, if you use Bad Behavior, you should consider supporting the project with a donation.
FINALLY! After two weeks, The Jawa Report is BACK! Take that, Islamotards!
I am under the impression that these people precisely fit Dennis Prager’s definition of a moral idiot. They are not able to weigh the morality of actions against other actions, and are then left only to make statements of morality based on nothing more than—well, whatever whim may carry the moment. Usually that whim is some sentiment currently in fashion in elite cirlces.
They proclaim, you can’t say that about Islam. It’s hate speech.
To which I reply: So, we can kill our enemies, but we cannot make fun of them?
I’ll second that. They can play their silly DDOS games, but they can’t silence the truth. In fact, they only stiffen our resolve.

Paris Hilton is in England promoting her absolutely farking risible attempt at pop music (have you heard it? it’s shi’ite), and is attempting to suck up to the locals by feigning interest in football (OK, soccer). And, errr, cooking.
She enthused: “I am a keen football fan. And I can cook really well — although you wouldn’t think it to look at me.”
Actually sweetheart, to look at you in the picture accompanying the piece, you look like you’ve been dragged through a hedge backwards.
OK, it was only two days, but it was a GREAT trip.
On Monday morning, the little princess and I road-tripped to Tallahassee to meet up with Vinnie and Merri and their adorable kids while they’re in Florida on their vacation! I’m still trying to recover, but I THINK I’ll actually get back to a semi-normal sleep cycle now (with the aid of Benadryl and the leftover Smirnoff Ice from the trip).
So anyway, we didn’t do a theme park like they did with Linda and Wild Thing because we both had to drive four hours to meet halfway, and we all got into Tallahassee too late in the afternoon to bother with it. This way was better for us anyway because we got to just hang out with them and the kids got to play together, and we went out to dinner. AND we got to sing Happy Birthday–the monkey version, of course–to Vinnie on his birthday (Monday)! The kids all acted like they had been friends for years, which isn’t surprising because my munchkin has talked on the phone to both Merri and Vinnie several times anyway.
The Comfort Suites in Tallahassee will be pleased to know that Vinnie and I did NOT smoke in the room–we had to go outside, and we did. Did you know that you can’t smoke anywhere in Tallahassee, Florida? They didn’t even allow it in any hotel rooms, and will FINE you $100 if they smell smoke! (WTF?!) What’s up with that shi’ite, Smoking Nazis? Is Tallahassee like Austin, Texas or something–the “liberal oasis” in a red state? (I consider north Florida a “red state,” as do most people.) Is that supposed to be where “Lower Alabama” becomes Florida or something?
Anyway, Vinnie and Merri are (as I already knew) exactly as you would think from their blogs. Vinnie is a riot and a great dad to his kids even though he’s a bratty brother to me, and Merri is way cool and totally sweet and a super-mom! And their kids? Awesome! And adorable!!! You can tell they’ve got good parents, too. I considered saying “farkit” and just driving down to Orlando on Tuesday to do Disney MGM with them, but I had to get back because I hadn’t planned on it (you know, money, the cats, extra clothes–that stuff). I wish we had, though!
Cuddle parties? No farking WAY!
I literally SHUDDERED at this! Clay, you got me figured out, all right! I think it takes a special kind of someone (moron? reject? loser? farktard? creep? spaz? Trekkie?) to do “cuddle parties!” (Ayyy, my brain hurts now!)
I’ve got to tell Carol about this one. Hehehehee…she’ll lose it! Maybe we should crash one of the “parties” and start a riot! muahahahahahaha

Go on, give it your best White Trash Wednesday shot. Finish him!
More White Trash fun at Hot Air!
UPDATE: Oh my GOD. I love Harper’s Bazaar magazine, but I am on the verge of canceling my subscription. Last month, Lindsey Lohan was on the cover. I thought I had been accidentally sent an issue of “Nasty Skank” or something. But THIS–THIS is outrageous.

Thanks to commenter Chancuff for the heads-up on this:
Correction: An article in Sunday’s editions misinterpreted a comment from U.S. Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa., at a town hall meeting in North Miami on Saturday. In his speech, Murtha said U.S. credibility was suffering because of continued U.S. military presence in Iraq ,and the perception that the U.S. is an occupying force. Murtha was citing a recent poll, by the Pew Global Attitudes Project, that indicates a greater percentage of people in 10 of 14 foreign countries consider the U.S. in Iraq a greater danger to world peace than any threats posed by Iran or North Korea.
I have to say, though–it’s funny how OUTRAGED! the lefty blogosphere is about this, considering how reporters are considered by them to be “unbiased” and never inject their personal opinions into the news. Elizabeth Baier got it wrong, as do so many others, and to the Sun-Sentinel’s credit, they corrected it. I’d love for the NY Slimes and the AP and al-Reuters (et cetera ad nauseum) to correct their stuff masquerading as “reporting.”
As regular readers of this blog know, I was away from home for two days. In other words, I wasn’t reading blogs or the newspapers online–not even my own blog. I got back last night to a slew of obnoxious crap from drive-by trolls DEMANDING I retract/correct my post, and infuriated that I hadn’t done so yet (fark ‘em, I’m not allowing demanding children to leave comments on this blog–they obviously haven’t read my “policy” on what I write about). TOUGH CRAP. According to one (unlinked) person there were over 400 blogs (I haven’t looked to check THAT stat, and don’t care to) who also linked to Elizabeth Baier’s story. Yet I’m supposed to interrupt my personal time away to follow their demands? So are you toddlers happy now? I’ll give credit to “chancuff” for the lead, because that was the first I’d heard of it–last night.
Here’s what I emailed (with a cc: to chancuff) to one of the demanding children, who linked to my original post:
