Ann Coulter, who is often a little shrill for my liking, nails it (I abhor bad language and senseless name-calling, especially used at length against farking liberal surrender-pussies).
Our side needs to toughen the fark up, stop fighting among ourselves and carpet-bomb the liberal enemy into dust. STARTING NOW.
Democrats have declared war against Republicans, and Republicans are wandering around like a bunch of ninny Neville Chamberlains, congratulating themselves on their excellent behavior. They’ll have some terrific stories about their Gandhi-like passivity to share while sitting in cells at Guantanamo after Hillary is elected.
Absofarkinglutely. This turn-the-other-cheek bullshi’ite is for sissies, and more pointedly, for losers.
Conservatives may shrink from confrontation with howling, violent liberals, but as General “Buck” Turgidson in “Dr. Strangelove” informed the milquetoast president still hoping to avert a nuclear confrontation with the Russkies: “Well, Mr. President, I would say that General Ripper has already invalidated that policy.”
Well, conservatives, I would say liberals have already invalidated your “Let’s all just get along” policy.
I have long held the view that the ‘permanent campaign’ a la Bill Clinton is how to defeat your political enemies. Wake up each day and open fire on them with everything you’ve got, whether they said anything or not. Overwhelming force wins the day on the battlefield, and we are on the battlefield BIG time.
We need to plan for a massacre. Theirs.
So, I’m done with all the wankers and backsliders on our side. You can all go and fark off. If you want to piss and moan about this slice or that slice of Bush policy, do so. I’ll be busy working to get Senator Jim Talent, and Congressman Todd Akin (who I vaguely know, and like a lot) re-elected. I don’t agree with everything they vote for. They both spend more than I would. They both do less about many things than I would like. I’ve told them to their faces.
But this isn’t Utopia. It’s real life. Grow the fark up. There’s an election in six months.
So, if you’d rather see Majority Leader Reid, Speaker Pelosi and President Gore/Kerry/Bayh/Biden/Clinton/Warner/Whothefarkever picking Supremes and forming National Security policy, because you wanted Bush impeached for ‘ignoring the border’ (like every President before him, including Reagan) then you don’t belong on the right. You’re a farking liberal enabler.
And enablers are just as culpable as addicts. Remember that.

Yes. I suppose I’ll vote Republican these next few election cycles. Get it while you can: in a few more years, the Republicans may hardly distinguishable from the Democrats. Yet, I’ll go to the polls like most other Republicans absolutely nauseated by my own party. The Republican Party is a disgrace. They may get our vote, but they don’t deserve our respect.

The real “Two party system” is incumbants and challengers. Seeing a Democrat/Republican difference as a reason to hold your nose and re-elect is the true ‘enabling’.

How far is the tolerance of a party without principles going to go? Will you be satisifed in a few years if all we have left of the Republican party is a bunch of Arlen Specter clones?
Would you all be so tolerant of your Republican representatives erroneous ways if they were pro-abortion and pro-gay marriage instead of pro-illegal immigration and pro-big government?
There are some things that I just have a hard time compromising on. Rule of law being one of them. National security being another. I suppose, as Charles over at LGF might put it, all that doesn’t amount to a “butterfly’s fart” compared to being against abortion and gay marriage does it?
What does being a Republican mean to you guys? I’m not asking rhetorically; I want to know. What are the limits? How much is too much? Is anything tolerable so long as it is supported by the party? Are there any requirements for being a Republican in your judgement or does anything go now?

Security improvements? What does that mean? Using the National Guard? WTF? Not one single word on building a real barrier! So basically, we are going to expand the guest worker program to allow more illegals to skirt past the border patrol and we are going to give a huge amnesty out. In return for this huge concession, we will get border that will be far from comprehensive - spotty, in fact. To add insult to injury, this spotty protection will be completely dependent on whatever politicians - Democrats or Republicans, pro- or anti-illegal immigration - happen to be in office at the moment. This is supposed to be satisfactory? This has got to be a bad dream! This is the best they could come up with?
Frisk was on O’Reilly just the other night and seemed to acknowledge the frustration on this issue and this chump bill is all they can come up with. I knew they would have to make some compromises, maybe even agree to some sort of amnesty, but c’mon!
There had better be a permanent wall somewhere in all this and some internal enforcement provisions for this guest “illegal alien” program. If not, I’m through with the Republican party for the next few years and I’ll write in candidates if I have to. This is the final straw. This is un-frickin’-believable.

Allow me to put it bluntly: the other day when we were in the Fred Barnes thread here, I mentioned that I myself had only written about the immigration issue twice. My comments in that thread were far more than the two posts combined. There’s a reason for it, and a reason why I said it was the last I was going to discuss it. It just isn’t that high on my list of priorities as it is on yours, and going on about it in comments isn’t going to move it up higher, either.
WTF does abortion have to do with immigration? IS the GOP now pro-abortion? NO.
And what makes you so sure gay marriage is even on my radar? Personally, I don’t give a shi’ite one way or the other. Maybe that bothers YOU, but guess what: I AM the Republican base, too.

Let me suggest a book to you: If It’s Not Close, They Can’t Cheat: Crushing the Democrats in Every Election and Why Your Life Depends on It by Hugh Hewitt. It might illustrate for you why this is more important than a “single issue.”
Frankly, I think single-issue ideologues are far more dangerous to those “single issues” than even the Arlen Specters in Congress. Every Republican that sits in Congress builds toward a filibuster-proof majority, and retains the ALL-IMPORTANT chairmanships/leadership. It matters. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: FORGET about immigration ever even being addressed, if the Dhimmicrats are in the majority.
And God help me, that had better be the last time I have to even mention the issue in comments again. (Is that what you want? To make people on our side get so aggravated by it that we just don’t give a shi’ite about it at all any more? Do you even know my position on the issue?)
Apparently we’re going to have to agree to disagree, but it doesn’t mean I won’t keep trying to bring “apostates” back into the fold. I’m a Reagan Republican–it’s what we do. We don’t bash other Republicans, because we see the big picture.

I’ll stay away from immigration since it offends you.
Believe me, though, immigration will be the downfall of the Republican party in the long run.
In so many ways, the Republicans are slouching towards becoming Dhimmicrats-Lite.
I will look into the book by Hewitt you recommend.
I personally don’t care about gay marriage, either. I do care about abortion. However, I brought the issues up as examples of areas where I don’t think Republicans would be as willing to compromise as they seemingly are on issues like immigration, out of control government spending, etc.

But we’re in a war of ideas. There are many battles in a war, and you don’t have to win them all to prevail.
Immigration is a hotter-button for me than Beth. There is a problem that has existed for 40 years. It’s not got any better or worse under Democrats or Republicans. It needs to be fixed.
We might see some sensible moves while Republicans are in control, we might not. But it’s a glacial issue with glacial solutions. Under a Democrat President/Congress you won’t see a damned thing you could like. That’s my promise to you.
So no, I don’t want 250 Arlen Specters in Congress, but it won’t happen. Here’s the news: Tom Coburn gets slaughtered in Maine. You don’t run cookie-cutter candidates in a country as huge and diverse as the United States. Most people are not ideologues, and vote in a fairly uninformed and emotional way. For every Mitch McConnell there has to be a Susan Collins. It’s a fact of life, and it’s why we have the big tent.
God, Guns and Guts doesn’t sell in the North East.
The debate has moved slowly in OUR direction not theirs. Pendulum swings are rare, but we risk assisting one if we join them in attacking our own people.
So, accept a little imperfection, swallow hard, and man the phones. Don’t do their farking job for them.

If withholding votes from Republican candidates who support causes contrary to conservative principles isn’t the answer, then fine, we need another way. What other methods are at our disposal in attempting to get our representatives to do what we want, nay, what we need them to do. Any bright ideas? What strategy can we pursue, especially granted that they often have corporate lobbyists’ interests at heart? There has to be something we can do.

Martin said it way better than I did on all points. I’m just REALLY irritable about it after the last couple of days (farking idiots on OUR side talking “the ‘I’ word”). I just refuse to link to them in a post and say what I REALLY think of them because I loathe pissing matches between blogs. You know, the futility of cyber-bickering, etc.
So, what to do? Work like hell to get candidates you like to the general election–as in, money. Don’t like the incumbents? Find their Republican challengers, and if they’re more to your liking, that’s who you help. Specter, who I detest, had a tough primary challenge in ‘04, but for some damn reason Santorum, Bush, and a bunch of other conservatives helped him. Horse-trading…it happens every day. Specter’s case isn’t the norm though; they kinda HAD to buy some political capital from him because he’s so goddamn unreliable (case in point: the NSA “wiretap” stuff he inexplicably whines about).
When I’m finished filling in for Sondra at her site, my mission is going to be finding those people, because I can’t bear for GOP voters to “sit it out,” and there are some/many who are threatening just that. Not if I can help it. Frist is safe this time, but they all aren’t.
And FTR, if I have to visit every single blog to tell people to STFU about Trent Lott, I’ll do it. (They complain about a Senator from Katrina-RAVAGED Mississippi wanting money for the state? DUH. I could burn your ears/eyes on that subject alone. People have no f’n idea how awful it still is there.)
You can also take ten minutes (if that long) a day and flood your congressman’s and Senators’ inboxes with mail/email. And phone calls. Keep doing it, and they’ll get the message. I see some people talking about “cussing out” their reps, and that’s guaranteed File 13 material. I don’t see you doing that, so they’ll listen. Every time I’ve written my people (Rep. Bonner, Sens. Sessions and Shelby) I’ve gotten something back from them, even if it’s just a thank you letter in the mail. Their people do answer the phones, too. They get the messages.
And write to the appropriate committee members too, even if they’re not your reps. Pols pay some attention to polls, but they can’t get a real sense of WTF we’re all talking about unless we tell them (as opposed to telling other bloggers, etc.–which is why blogging can feel pretty pointless a lot of the time!).
I’m really curious about how much mail they’re getting about this anyway. I haven’t heard one word about their offices being flooded with mail/phone calls, even with this level of dissatisfaction. Compare it to the Terri Schiavo saga–they were DEFINITELY flooded, and acted as a result (much to the dismay of the Death Cultists–haha). The difference? The pro-life movement is FAR better organized than a bunch of pissed off, unorganized voters. They get results.
I know it sounds like a cliché, but there’s a real war going on with our people getting killed “over there.” We can’t put their lives in the hands of those morons on the left, and we can’t put the future of our country in the hands of them, with their appeasement/dhimmi non-strategy. That’s where Bush is–the same place I am. EVERYTHING else is secondary. Not a non-issue, but secondary.
