I am so PISSED.
I’ve been trying to help with the Andrea Clark situation for the last week, going between here, RWN, Pro-Life Blogs, and mostly the Democratic Underground since Andrea’s sister posts there. I have to say I haven’t been flamed even ONCE–everyone has been appreciative of the help from our side of the fence, and everyone’s been working together in the pertinent threads there. Some have even said they hoped I would stay around after this is over.
So I go there today to check for updates (HERE’S THE LATEST) and to see if I can find some contact info for one of the members (knitter4democracy) because the Lone Star Times and (I think) Pro-Life Blogs are trying to organize a protest. Lone Star Times asked if I would start a thread there and I can’t–I’m too new there, so I was going to ask her to do it, or at least post a comment about it.
Guess what? I’M BANNED.
Why? The farking thought police.
We ban conservative disruptors who are opposed to the broad goals of this website. If you think overall that George W. Bush is doing a swell job, or if you wish to see Republicans win, or if you are generally supportive of conservative ideals, please do not register to post, as you will likely be banned.
I’ve been up-front about being a conservative from the beginning, and had that in my profile. I also noted that I was only there to help and that I had no intention of getting into flame wars (I’ve got my own damn site for that anyway). I’ve been anything BUT “disruptive,” and I haven’t broken a single rule of theirs EXCEPT for being a conservative–and all I’ve done there is try to help.
And I get banned. Apparently it’s more important to keep wingnuts out than have non-partisan teamwork trying to save a woman’s life–a woman whose sister is a prolific poster at the DU, no less.
I am so farking pissed.

Beth, don’t be too upset, for real Democrats like myself have been banned over there as well.
Unfortunately, that site was one of the worst during the Terri Schiavo case, and anybody who was informed enough to know it was NOT a political issue one bit (but made so by the media) either got shouted down by the likes of the pro-Michael brigade or simply decided to remain silent during the court-ordered homicide.
But WHY in the world would DU fall in complete disrepute by denying the publicizing far and wide a tragedy facing a family member of one of its posters? It’s NOT a political matter, for crying out loud, but is a direct result of the years-long propaganda campaign by so-called bioethicists?
The moderators at DU are nothing short of batshi’ite crazy.

Although I haven’t posted until now, I have been following the
situation through DU. I am of course heartened that Andrea seems to be better and has a chance to pull through this now. I am also heartened over the fact that two extreme sides can set aside differences and unite in a common cause when there is no meddling from the sanctimonious and religious right and political right to influence an outcome.
Yeah. We so politicize life, and are so smug and sanctimonious. Twits didn’t do jack to help, just complained. I haven’t found a single liberal blog that mentioned this before the “right” side was all over it. And it was the “Right” to Life folks who got the ball moving in a positive direction.
BTW, code word was NUTS. That describes them all right.

Felos and company did exactly THAT, and twisted the court-ordered murder to make it about “privacy” and “no government interference,” and all of those other lies in order to get support from people who should NEVER have supported that band of liars.
That’s ALL these idiots from DU and their ilk in the blogosphere and punditocracy cared about in that case. It was to score points against Jeb, against DeLay, against Randall Terry, and never mind the core facts of the case had nothing to do with politics at all.

I had no idea that had happened. I’m very sorry, as it doesn’t make sense to me.
People can get banned if enough people alert the mods, which must have happened. If anyone saw that you had bad-mouthed DU anywhere else but were posting there, that might have done it.
It’s not a perfect site by far, but I will say that we’ve had tons of trolls lately, people just posting to stir everyone up and get everyone fighting. I think the mods have been banning many there lately.
You know, you can fight that. E-mail them and ask them why you were banned and explain what was going on. They often rescind the order if they were wrong.
Now that I know your blog, I’ll give you updates here as I find them out. Thank you for all you’ve done.

FreeRepublic does the same in its own way. I’ve been banned for little more than a disagreement with a social conservative, when the site is supposed to be for rightists. Beth, both DU and FR are havens for moonbats. They don’t want to hear the truth that decent people exist in all ideologies and that total scumbags do as well. That might make them think.

I think that’s EXACTLY what happened, Susan. It’s one reason why I generally avoid forums of any kind.
MikeT, I rarely ever go to FR, just because (like I said) I’m not a fan of forums. And yeah, it’s more than a bit over-the-top for me. I’ve seen plenty there that has creeped me out, so I stay away. There’s nothing there that I want to see that I can’t find elsewhere, anyway.
