The demonization of Tony Snow is officially underway.
First up? Take a guess.
He’s, a racist!
Snow’s comments on race have already been challenged as out of touch by Democrats in Congress. Asked Democratic National Committee spokesperson Amaya Smith: “How can Republicans claim to be mending fences with the African-American community after hiring Tony Snow, who just doesn’t get it?”
Mending fences? I hadn’t realized there were any fences, except those around the liberal plantation.

Other than some semi-controversial comments he made about a bill in 1997 that would have reiterated the focus if the 1964 Civil Rights Act (he called the widely African-American supported bill a preference to one race and said that “[Preferences] employ the assumption that blacks, women, Hispanics and other groups lack the brains, talent, intelligence, experience and moxie to succeed on their own. This is as racist in its way as Jim Crow laws, and as debilitating. It beclouds the accomplishments of minorities who make it on their merits.”) than I don’t know of to much he said that would blatantly tick off black people other than basic ideology differences.

Talmadge: I don’t even see that statement as racist AT ALL. It’s also just basic differences in how to address other issues (IOW, ideology).
I happen to agree that lowering standards for minorities implies they/we (as a woman) NEED lower standards, and that offends me–no, pisses me off–to my very core. What sucks is the fact you can’t deviate from the outdated aff. action party line without being labeled a racist/sexist/bigot, when such charges have no basis in reality.
(I’m certain there ARE bigots who say these things, but there are similarly plenty of bigots who claim to be for affirmative action, etc.)
