Trackbacks fixed!

Thanks to Lisa (my kickass blog host) for the Clue!
If you’re using Wordpress and having trouble with your trackbacks like I was (trackback pings were generating 404 errors), check your .htaccess file; you may have screwy permalink info in there like I did. If you update your permalink structure in Wordpress/Options, you’ll automatically have code inserted in the file. My problem was I had it already, but it was slightly different. Although I didn’t change the permalink structure, I probably hit “save” on that page for some dumbass reason, and that put the code in there again. So, I just took out the older code and now trackbacks are working again.
If I’m not making sense and you need help, let me know. Check your .htaccess file first!
I might as well make this an open trackback post to make sure it works for everyone, so go for it. If you have something to shill, link it to this one and send a trackback and it’ll show up here in this post.

Tammy, go to Manage, Files, then look on the right under common files. Be REALLY careful. If you have a test site, do it there. I lost my test American Flag league site that way, trying to insert code to stop hotlinking.

I don’t think it’s a 1.5 vs 2.0 issue, because I did testing over here after Sadie installed WP and the trackbacks showed up in the tests.

I’m on 2.0.2 and I can see the trackbacks of others on my blog. My 1.5.2 trackbacks appear in the bulleted list as I’d expect but all my trackbacks since my upgrade are still in the trackback data entry window.
Trying to get an answer on the WP support site, to no avail.
