Dumb Debbie does it again
Yesterday, I got an email from Debbie the Cupid Stunt threatening me with legal action because of this, where I had a small button with her (badly photoshopped) mug on it for the anti-Schlussel blogroll–because her mugshot is “copyrighted.” Whatthefarkever. Anyway, I laughed it off and took off the button because in all honesty, I thought I had already replaced it with the more accurate likeness of her after Rightwingprof was threatened with a lawsuit (in fact, I had replaced it, where the “Not one of ours” blogroll is but forgot about the post).
Did you get that? A lawsuit because her picture was here. Heh. Like I said, “whatthefarkever.”
Here’s what the silly child sent:

cease and desist letter.It has come to my attention that you have posted on
your site a photo of me to which I own the exclusive
rights and use. I hold the copyright to the photo and
the exclusive trademark to my likeness and image. I
do not recall having licensed that photo to you or

remove the photo from your site and cease and desist
from its use.If you do not do so, I will not hesitate to pursue
legal action to enforce my rights against you. To
that end, if you refuse to remove the photo, I will
ask the court to assess fees against you for the
period during which you posted the photo unauthorized,
in addition to other damages I will be seeking against
you.Since you claim–and that is the operant word,
claim–to be a conservative, one would think you would
respect the property rights of others and not attempt
to Kelo them. That photo is my property, and I have
not granted you use of it, nor would I ever. I sent a
similar notice to your friend at another website, and
because he realized he was violating the law and
engaging in copyright and trademark infringement, he
removed my photo. You must do the same, or I will be

Emphasis mine, because she used the same silly line with Vinnie, who’s dealt with his threats much better than I did (I was too lazy busy to write anything yesterday). And “damages?” What, for the distress caused to the internets for showing that mugshot? Or because her feewings were huwt? HA!
Sweetie, if you’re a “conservative,” then I don’t mind if you think I’m not. In fact, I’ll take it as a compliment. You’re right up there with “conservatives” like Fred Phelps.
I guess anyone who sees Schlussel as an overpaid, illiterate hack is not only an “terrorist sympathizer,” but is “obsessed” and not really a “conservative.” (I think she’s just given new meaning to the term “thin-skinned!”)
Anyway, here was my response:

No problem with the photo; actually, I thought I had replaced it with the non-retouched version that Right Wing Nation had provided. Whatever.

I read about the torture of the dying US military pilot whose helicopter crashed earlier this week. The terrorists recorded the torture and the video is now being shown on Islamic websites. The story is at http://www.nydailynews.com/front/story/406441p-344099c.html
but I can’t see mention of that story in any of the major papers. It’s just sick that the Media spotlights Abu Ghraib were the detainees were “tortured” yet they sweep this story under the rug. Makes me wonder who’s side the Media is on.

Operant sounds, like fancy, but is not really the most appropriate word to use in that context. Many people who like to prove how clever they are often do that though.
