“It’s all about OIL!!!” Same nonsense, years later.

OK, call me crazy or bored or whatever, but I like to surf the internets a lot. I was just kinda glossing over the Technorati blog, and saw they had a list of the top 100 blogs in 2002, and Andrea Harris was there (along with others you know, and plenty you won’t). So I mosey on over to Andrea’s link (through WebArchive/Wayback Machine), thinking, “cool, before the Iraq War, let’s see what bloggers were saying then.”
And you know what? They were talking about THE EXACT SAME THINGS as now. I’m sick of the same old arguments being rehashed, and I’ve only been blogging since May 2004. Andrea’s been listening to this bullshi’ite for four years, and so have others making the same arguments. I’ve had the same things in my head for all this time, but I haven’t had to deal with these alternate-universe retards all along, thank God, and I’m so sick of these morons my head might explode. And they just get more deranged all the time. (I know, Bush being re-elected–Praise Jesus!*–pushed them almost over the edge.)
But this one that I found right off the bat was funny, because of the highlighted part of this comment from the post:
[...] 2. If the US controls the oil, and isn’t just buying it, it makes it a lot easier, a lot cheaper, and they will exercise a lot more freedom over it. The sanctions were in place to fix the problem of Saddam and his regime, they were designed to change Iraq so that eventually the sanctions could be removed. This is less about the past and more about who’s in office, namely: GWB and Cheney. Oil tycoons. It’s called black gold for a reason. For arguments sake I’ll say you’re right, despite the fact that Bush is obviously thirsty for oil, Cheney as well. When the US attacks and doesn’t take any interest in the oil after it’s done, or just takes little interest, I will return and apologize. Maybe not apologize, but admit that I was wrong. When the US attacks and Bush’s and Cheney’s buddies along with the two of them get ludicrously rich, then I guess it won’t be necessary for me to return, or at least for that point, thought don’t be surprised if I do. Oh, and they don’t need to eliminate sanctions in order to get their hands on a lot of oil:

Taking control over the land only means that they get all the untapped oil (and there’s a lot), and they get it directly.

I wonder if young Running Eel ever went back to apologize or admit he was wrong? I don’t see anyone making a grab for oil, even three years into the war. In fact, I just filled up my tank yesterday for almost 3 dollars a gallon. Again. Still. When are we going to get that big oil windfall, anyway?
Maybe it’s just me, but that’s just PRICELESS.
* To be used after every mention of Bush’s election and re-election (Praise Jesus!), because twisting the knife in a little deeper entertains me.
