A couple of bloggers could use some help right now, if you can:
* Brian at Iowa Voice just got laid off from his job. Nice timing, huh. (Anyone who cans an employee at Christmas ought to be shot.) He’s got a new job lined up already, but it doesn’t start until after Christmas and he’s got bills to pay. You know the drill. At the very least, click the hell out of the Google ads and/or buy a Blogad.
* basil’s “blog war” nemesis Sortapundit is going on what sounds like the most awesome road trip ever–from London to Mongolia! On wheels, not in an airplane. It’s called the Mongol Rally, and it’s to raise funds for a charity called Send a Cow:
These guys donate livestock to families in Africa, providing a much needed source of meat, milk and manure. It’s a great cause. To enter the rally we need to raise £1000 (about $1750) by any means necessary.
I am insane with envy! You can help by donating, or even just spreading the word. If you can offer a free blogad, that would help, too.
* Today is basil’s first blogiversary! Happy Blogday, basil, my friend!
* Moonbats in the Arctic! (Poor Santa!)
People living in the Arctic have filed a legal petition against the US government, saying its climate change policies violate human rights.
What a bunch of bullshi’ite. More:
In a counter-suit, filed by Donald Rumsfeld, the US government plans to sue the Inuit for pollution created by polar bears shi’iteting in international waters. “This aggresssion, this pollution, against America, .. it will not stand.”
BWAHAHAHAHAHAA!!!!
* ‘Twas the Night Before RamaHanaKwanzmas…
* Sorry, I just have to link this again–it just cracks me up. Bad Santa!
I’m not doing an official “endorsement” list for the Weblog Awards, because I’ve got way too many friends competing with one another. Voting is hard enough as it is, because I’m having to alternate my votes in some cases. BUT…I’ll toss out a few:
Best ME/Africa Blog: Rantings of a Sandmonkey! Of course I love ITM, but Sandmonkey’s my bud, and he is really a rising star in the blogosphere. He’s one of the few brave souls to actually get out on the streets in Egypt and speak out against terrorism and totalitarianism, and he’s unabashedly on “our side.” He’s also even done some Arabic to English translation for some other blog friends of mine, too. Great guy, all around. Give him your votes! Let some new blood get some recognition!
Best 3501-5000: Feisty Republican Whore. She’s my bud, she’s smart, and she’s riotously funny. Give her some voting love!
Best 1751-2500: Sean Gleeson, for a ton of reasons, including the now-famous (or maybe infamous) Autorantic Virtual Moonbat.
Best 2501-3500: Diane’s Stuff. Lori Byrd’s Byrd Droppings is great, but she’s got Polipundit, and I read Diane. She’s good people, even if she’s making me feel guilty. (I’m not participating in Bloggers Without Butts!)
5001-6750: Liberty Just in Case. If you’re not familiar with the blog, PLEASE do go check him out. He’s been filling in at The Gun-Toting Liberal (as have I, only much more sporadically) and he’s been taking on the moonbats in comments there pretty much single-handedly, and doing a fantastic job of it.
6751-8750: Elephant in My Coffee, whom I found a couple months ago through my blog-bud Greta (Hooah Wife).
And last but DEFINITELY not least (except maybe in stature), Hooah Kid, for the 8750+ category. Hooah Kid (Scott) is only seven years old! How can you NOT vote for him? He’s adorable and wonderful! And as Mama Greta says, all he wants for the holidays is a blog award. Come on, y’all, make a little kid’s wish come true!
OK, that’s not last, nevermind. I’ll just run through some others quickly, although most pretty obvious picks.
Best Blog: Michelle Malkin
Best Group Blog: The Cotillion (duh!)
Best Liberal Blog: Feministe, because Lauren is funny and is nice to us wingnuts. Which is probably why they’re getting their asses kicked.
Media Blog: Michael Yon
Culture/Gossip (I hate that name): SondraK–I’d vote for her in any category.
Photo: Zombie Time
Design: The Shape of Days
Podcast: IMAO
Video: The Political Teen
Parenting: Blogging Baby, because it’s Jay Allen’s (the Zero Boss) other blog and dammit, he’s shutting the Zero Boss blog down. I wouldn’t even care about this category except for Jay being in it.
Business: The Club for Growth - another I wouldn’t care about except for this blog.
Asian: Xiaxue. She’s gonna win it anyway. I was voting for Simon World, but I give up. She’s so damn funny, anyway. It’s totally a guilty pleasure blog for me.
The others? I don’t know any of the Religion or Sports blogs, so I’m voting the Religion blog that The Anchoress is voting for (I asked her via email). If any of the sports bloggers are Alabama Crimson Tide fans or fans of Chicago teams, I’ll vote for them. I just haven’t even looked yet.
For everyone else, I’m not telling. That’s a secret. You can probably guess, but I still won’t tell you. Sorry! ;-)
