Time for another English lesson
Dammit, internet. Now I’ve got to break out the bullwhip AGAIN.
For fark’s sake,
I STG, this shi’ite makes me hate the internets. Note that I didn’t say “the internet’s.”
Let’s go over this shi’ite AGAIN.
Lesson 1:
WORD: dog
PLURAL (as in two, for the very stupid): two dogs
POSSESSIVE (as in “belonging to”): dog’s tail
PLURAL POSSESSIVE: two dogs’ tails (note: not “two dogs’ tail’s,” either)
Lesson 2:
YOUR: indicates the possessive. Your writing skills suck.
YOU’RE: conjunction of the words YOU and ARE. You’re a horrible speller.
Lesson 3:
ITS: the possessive form of it. Its tires blew out. Its window was broken.
IT’S: conjuction of the words IT and IS (or has). It’s really simple, if you think about it. It’s been a long time. It’s been a long time since its tires were changed.
Lesson 4–and I know I’ve gone over this one before:
The word FASCIST is spelled FASCIST. NOT “facist.” A “facist” might be one who is partial to faces, or as in “racist,” one who hates faces. Get it? FASCIST, NOT FACIST. You want to see “fascist?” Call me a “facist.” I’ll go fascist on your ass like Mussolini.
Lesson 5:
Here’s another winner in the dumpsters of the political blogosphere: propaganda.
Hey, dumbass: it’s not propoganda, it’s PROPAGANDA.
Lesson 6:
This one really grates on my nerves.
SERGEANT, not “seargent,” “sargeant,” or any other bizarre variation. SERGEANT. “Golly, Sergeant Carter!”
To be continued. Obviously, and to my never-ending aggravation. This is what I get for dumpster-diving in bad comment threads (seeing as how my comments are almost totally silent–ahem).
On a happy note, my daughter (in FIRST GRADE) never gets this stuff wrong. She is the Spelling Queen of her school. :mrgreen:

PS. “Petty Officer” is the correct spelling.
PSS. Never argue with a MCPO, you will lose. (I’m a former Lt USN, who learned that lesson the hard way.)
