Support Victory

Another must-read for Veterans’ Day–Generations of Valor; which talks about fathers and sons who both served in wars (Vietnam and Iraq), and their reflections on the two wars. Excerpt:

Twenty-seven-year-old John M. Atkinson served in Iraq as a Combat Engineer Team Leader and vehicle commander. His duties revolved around Improvised Explosive Device sweeps and patrols, along with raids on suspected terrorist hideouts. His father, who served in Vietnam, “absolutely” inspired him to join the Army, he says.

Atkinson directly links the way the Iraq war is reported with the Vietnam era. “For many of today’s journalists, the Vietnam/Nixon era is a highlight of their profession’s history,” he wrote. “Right or wrong, they credit themselves with ending an immoral war and bringing down a corrupt president. The reality of this perception is entirely beside the point. That is the framework they are viewing Iraq through. They spin stories to make as many explicit or implicit connections to Vietnam as possible. Obviously, to a real student of history, the Vietnam and Iraq wars have very little if anything in common. But the journalists are there to Tell A Story based on the script they have in their heads, not the truth on the ground.”

There’s more, of course, but they all say one thing in common–they’re proud to serve, and they believe they are doing the RIGHT THING, not just “following orders” that they don’t believe in.

And obviously, none appreciate the lies of the craven, cynical, Bush-bashing, America-bashing political left

Democrat honchos, while forever complaining that President Bush has hurt America’s image in the world, have themselves been engaged in a systematic campaign to slander President Bush, particularly over foreign policy, consequently undermining America’s image in the world.

Indeed, if you wanted to discredit America in the eyes of other nations, how would you go about doing it?

…or the shameless LIARS who think that if they repeat their “antiwar” (read: anti-American, anti-adult, self-loathing, utopian, pro-enemy, etc.) LIES often enough, they will become true (and yes, you did see this in the previous post):

While it’s perfectly legitimate to criticize my decision or the conduct of the war, it is deeply irresponsible to rewrite the history of how that war began. (Applause.) Some Democrats and anti-war critics are now claiming we manipulated the intelligence and misled the American people about why we went to war. These critics are fully aware that a bipartisan Senate investigation found no evidence of political pressure to change the intelligence community’s judgments related to Iraq’s weapons programs.

They also know that intelligence agencies from around the world agreed with our assessment of Saddam Hussein. They know the United Nations passed more than a dozen resolutions citing his development and possession of weapons of mass destruction. And many of these critics supported my opponent during the last election, who explained his position to support the resolution in the Congress this way: “When I vote to give the President of the United States the authority to use force, if necessary, to disarm Saddam Hussein, it is because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a threat, and a grave threat, to our security.” That’s why more than a hundred Democrats in the House and the Senate — who had access to the same intelligence — voted to support removing Saddam Hussein from power. (Applause.)

The stakes in the global war on terror are too high, and the national interest is too important, for politicians to throw out false charges. (Applause.) These baseless attacks send the wrong signal to our troops and to an enemy that is questioning America’s will. As our troops fight a ruthless enemy determined to destroy our way of life, they deserve to know that their elected leaders who voted to send them to war continue to stand behind them. (Applause.) Our troops deserve to know that this support will remain firm when the going gets tough. (Applause.) And our troops deserve to know that whatever our differences in Washington, our will is strong, our nation is united, and we will settle for nothing less than victory. (Applause.)

Another oft-repeated lie: “We support the troops, but not the war.” Bullshi’ite. There are a hell of a lot of you don’t support the troops, and you know it. Just because you SAY you do, it’s not fooling anyone.

Incredibly, these same people who habitually lie about why we’re at war, what Bush does/his motivations, who say they support the troops, who think they are suddenly defense experts and diplomats thanks to their PhD’s from Google, fer Chrissakes, and their years of experience working in diplomacy and defense policy–oh, wait, nevermind, that’s not true, of course–these same people say bullshi’ite like “Bush lied!!!,” they don’t believe anything at all from the DOD’s side of the story (or simply aren’t interested) because it doesn’t fit their world view, they pretend to support the troops but piss on their graves, even to the point of openly supporting the terrorists (chickenjihadis?).

I’m sick and tired of saying I’m sick and tired of them. “Screw ‘em.” They won’t shut up until they have convinced every last uninformed person that their lies are fact, for the sole purpose of their declaring victory for themselves. They don’t risk their lives for victory, and they care nothing about those who DO risk their lives for victory. Their battle truly IS with our military who sacrifice and die for our country, and I will NEVER sit back and allow them to do that without fighting back.

Support the troops, support America. Don’t let the chickenjihadis fight for the terrorists (NOT “insurgents”). The blood of heroes is on their hands, with their moral support of the enemy. Everyone with a clue knows that breaking the morale of the enemy is key–and the “antiwar” scum don’t do a single solitary thing to improve the morale of their fellow Americans; rather, they bolster the confidence and morale of the vile monsters who kill Americans. “Aid and comfort,” indeed.

Speak the truth, call them on their lies, and the pro-terrorist left will be defeated–and our troops will stand a much better chance of surviving. Work to keep morale high for our military and their families. THAT is supporting the troops.

Every administration fficial, elected official and RNC flack ought to be standing in front of a camera or microphone repeating these things. . .every day. Every statement by Clinton, Gore, their administration and their supporters that reflected the identical intelligence analysis should be quoted.

It is going to take hard work to beat back the lies and fabrications of the left. They, and their fellow travelers in the MSM, have been shouting these ignoble insults at the President for too long.

God, don’t I know it. It’s frustrating feeling like I’m NEVER gaining traction when it’s mostly bloggers and a few columnists doing all the work. Frustrating as hell. I’m starting to think Rove needs a damn vacation–bring in Dick Morris; he brought Klintoon out of the 30’s approval range during Klintoon’s first term, well enough for him to be re-elected.

[...] It’s a confirmed kill! Oh, but it’s “not nice” to say such things, is it. Tough. The propaganda the left vomits up is FAR less “nice” to real patriotic Americans. I don’t say nicey-nice things about my enemies, and these people ARE the enemy. And not just the Al-Kos Army–everyone like them, including their “mainstream” media mouthpieces. Follow all the links in Rusty’s post, especially Jeff Goldstein and John of Castle Argghhh!, who expertly dismantle the idiotic White Phosphorus meme (the latest piece of pro-terrorist propaganda with which the chickenjihadis aid the enemy). There is no plausible explanation for the Democrats’ behavior other than that they long to see U.S. troops shot, humiliated, and driven from the field of battle. They fill the airwaves with treason, but when called to vote on withdrawing troops, disavow their own public statements. These people are not only traitors, they are gutless traitors.
