16 years ago, the Wall fell. Where’s Jesus Jones now?

I hate forgetting anniversaries. It seems a little shallow to me. The worst part is when somebody reminds you… Ugh.

I remember when we got the pictures of the wall, the one separating East and West Berlin. I was actually watching it on MTV, if you can believe that. We’d finally overcome the greatest enemy of all time: communism.

If you’ve never heard that song, the lyrics don’t do it justice. It’s not the greatest song, for a one-hit wonder, but at least he had a hit. It was that sentiment, that “I saw the decade in, when it seemed/the world could change at the blink of an eye/And if anything/then there’s your sign…of the times.”

What’s funny, is that we then went into a decade of ignored wars. Chock full of “peace.” Neither here nor there, but interesting nonetheless.

I was alive and I waited, waited, I was alive and I waited for this…
