Justice Sunday II
I just wanted to point you to my good friend Beth Woodfin (The Other Bethâ„¢) at Yeah, Right, Whatever, who was at Justice Sunday II with some other fine bloggers. Maybe you’ve already seen what some others have written, but have you seen hers?
A few things she mentioned:
…His friend is a pastor, and some gay rights protesters threw a bunch of condoms on the altar of the church. His friend just smiled and said that being angry with them would be like being angry with a blind man for stepping on your foot- they just don’t see.
LOVE that quote! ;-)
And this:
Ted Haggard discussed whether politics and religion should go together. He commented again that it’s not a matter of wanting to impose a theocracy on the nation, but to put more arguments into the debate.
Well said! I’d say a pretty overwhelming majority of the blogosphere should consider that point. And I say this as one who doesn’t EVER bring religion into my political arguments. Ever. I’m not threatened by some silly idea of “theocracy,” though, because I know that’s not the goal of the Christian Right–and I suspect most realistic people know that too, although it may seem like an attractive argument despite it being fallacious.
Beth adds some thoughts about the conference upon her return home here, with links to Charmaine Yoest (who made the arrangements for the bloggers to attend, and has a lot written about it that you must also read!) and all the other bloggers who attended. Note Beth’s observation of the Reuters reporter, too. (Classic.)
Nice job, y’all!
