Slacker blogging
Uh, sorry I’ve been kinda lazy around here. I’ve been putting my modem to good use the last couple of days, though, and it’s kinda interfered with blogging and being on the internet in general.
So while I wait for my little project to finish, be a sweetheart and do me a favor–click the Blogads, dammit! And speaking of Blogads, a bunch of them expire next week so now (or next week) would be a good time to buy one!
While I’m hitting you up to open up that wallet…here’s another good way to spend all that crazy money you’ve got burning a hole in it: Blogathon 2005! My pathetic contribution (I am broke as hell) is going for Laurence Simon’s Blogathon charity (im memory of sweet grumpus Edloe), The Cat Welfare Society of Israel.
Also, my preoccupation with other things has prevented me from writing about Steven Vincent, the journalist murdered in Iraq. Everyone else has already said their piece, so I’ll just say “may he rest in peace.” See KJL’s piece at NRO about him, and don’t miss Jeff Harrell’s interview with him, done in December 2004. There’s also a transcript of a Fox News interview with Steven Vincent after the Iraqi elections, at Johnny Dollar. And as usual, Michelle Malkin has the roundup and the usual collection of trackbacks to follow.
The ACLU sucks (duh): ACLU Files Suit Over Random Subway Searches. I guess they’d better look at the airlines too, then. And DUI checkpoints, for that matter. And…about a million other random things. GAWD, they piss me off. While you’re there, check out this great story of a young girl who “has moxie.”
Finally, and most importantly, pray for Eric’s mother, and for him and the family. Please.

what is a modem?
Beth says:
Oh, you know what I mean. hahahahahahahaha
It’s this magic box that makes gigantic files appear on my computer, silly!
BTW, I finally found a video of Pink Floyd at Live8 - a whopping 767MB avi with 320 sound.
Howard Larson says:
Yes, Ma’am. Clicked another whole boatload of them.
Jay says:
Thanks for the links.
Jeff H says:
Listen, I’ll do whatever you ask, could you please just hold it down? To noisy in here to sleep…
{zzzz…}
William Teach says:
A bud gave me a bootleg copy of the Floyd concert, I keep forgetting that it is my bag. Nothing to see, FBI, move along. :)
Oh, modem. That thing in my PC’s that takes up space and hisses for attention now and then.
Van Helsing says:
Careful, you don’t want to give the ACLU ideas.
Oddybobo says:
Oh thanks for the link to that young lady, bravo to her, and if I had a grand, I’d give it to her!

This sounds like a knee-jerk response. Do you really think that randomly checking 1 out of every 10 people who walk into a subway is an effective policy? I discuss this at length at gopliberty.blogspot.com. It’s not worthy of *any* intrusion. As for DUI checkpoints, that went to the Supreme Court about 15 years ago and the Court got it wrong. Now the police set up checkpoints in D.C. to stop everyone to question them about anything. It’s great for catching folks who forget to buckle their seat-belts.
William Teach says:
Can’t speak for Beth, but we should be straight up profiling people. Grandma is going to blow a subway or plane up. Abdul is. Except for McVeigh, every terrorist action against the USA has been done by *surprise* Islamic men.
Merri Musings says:
Thanks for the prayers, Beth - we all appreciate you and will keep you posted on how Eric’s mom is doing!
Beth says:
Damn skippy, Teach. You DID speak for me!
Kris, that’s no knee-jerk response. I’m sick and tired of people crying about it, too. I don’t like DUI checkpoints either, but damn–people seriously seem to have gotten the word “freedom” and “privacy” mixed up with “anarchy”. Since when did law and order become unconstitutional, fer Chrissakes?
:sigh:
William Teach says:
should have read “grandma is not going to blow up…” woops.
Can I submit that comment to the Bonfire?
