With apologies…
…to those I’m going to link here, because I REALLY want to write something more about each of these, but I’m desperately sleep-deprived and I’m starting to develop blog-ADHD. And honestly, sleep deprivation makes me very, very lazy.
Once you’ve gotten through all the loveliness that is the Cotillion, READ THESE:
MUST READ: Egyptian Sandmonkey reports on the anti-terror protest in Egypt. Before you say, “oh, it was only a dozen people,” remember that organized protest does NOT happen in Egypt because it’s illegal. These things have to start somewhere! He’s got pictures and a full account of it here, here, here, and here (with the pictures!). Oh hell, just hit the main page and read. It’s CRUCIAL–we MUST SUPPORT those in that part of the world who are vocalizing their opposition to terror!
Lots of talk going on in the blogs about Rep. Tancredo’s mischaracterized remarks about “nuking Mecca.” I’ll just point you to a few, and you can follow the links:
Aaron’s cc: is rightfully ALL OVER Hugh Hewitt and others who are demanding apologies (dhimmitude, anyone?) from Rep. Tancredo. Start here, and then here, here, here, here, here, and here. I guess I could have just said hit the main page there, too, but hey, I wanted to toss some links out. ;-)
Mike from Blind Mind’s Eye has some GREAT stuff:
Islam and Memetics
Nuking Mecca and Medina is far worse for Islam than nuking the Vatican is for Catholicism
Got a few hours? Go over to Sigmund, Carl, & Alfred to read every-damn-thing.
See this, this, this, and this in particular, about the War on Islamonazism (which is what I’m calling it from here on out, thanks to Orianna Fallaci).
UPDATE: I found this via Michelle Malkin, who has a link-dump of her own up (thanks for linking the Cotillion too!)–
Mystery Achievement has Part One of a translation of
…the latest column by Oriana Fallaci. Published exactly one week ago today in Corriere Della Sera, it is entitled, “Il nemico che trattiamo da amico” (”The Enemy We Treat As A Friend”).
Part Two of it is also up, here.
In the second of two posts translating Oriana Fallaci’s latest column, Fallaci discusses the possibility of a terrorist attack in her native Italy.
Got more stuff about the war on Islamonazis or their apologists? It’s all I’ve been reading lately, other than what I’ve done for Cotillion. Link to this post and hit me with a trackback, and I’ll read yours, too. (And so can everyone else who sees this post.)
I’m going to take a damn nap!
Oh yeah–look what Mad Dog Vinnie made for Hanoi Jane! heeheeeheeee

I think the distinction that many of the anti-nuking people miss is that Mecca contains the Ka’Bah which is the most important mosque in all of Islam. Allegedly, it was built by Abraham and Ishmael and if it were destroyed, then you can imagine what kind of message that would send the Islamic masses about God…
One thing that I remind non-Jews/Christians is that we worship Yahweh, not Allah. Yahweh and Allah mean two very different things…
Oh and one of the things that amuses me is that Allah translates into one of the Bible’s titles for Lucifer, King of the Gods which translates easily into the head of the powers and principalities (of the spiritual realm).

Aaron's cc: says:
Abraham in Saudi Arabia?
Most Christians don’t know that Muslims believe it was Ishmael, not Isaac, who Abraham nearly “sacrificed” at the request of God.
Of course, that would pose quite a scriptural problem for Christians because it would mean that Isaac’s son Jacob and grandson Judah and latter descendants Kings David and Solomon would not be the holders of the divine promise of messianic patrilineage.
So, some admitted illiterate pedophile in the 600’s comes along and says that the Jews and Christians are mistaken and that it wan’t Isaac but Ishmael.
Let’s look at some assumptions that all who believe the foundations of Jewish and Christian scripture: the story of Abraham and Isaac was roughly 3700 years ago, the Torah’s being 3300 years old.
Mohammed was 1400 years ago and the Torah was therefore already 1900 years old at the time.
Let’s look at a parallel. Imagine someone around a century ago founding a new faith asserted that it wasn’t Jesus but his brother James who was the Christian messiah !
The leap of logic necessary to accept the claims of Islam as compatible with Judaism and Christianity is THAT outrageous.
Jews and Christians may differ on the identity of the messiah, Jews holding on to the messianic criteria of peace on earth, etc. to be able to declare someone as the messiah and Christians believing that Jesus will accomplish that when he returns, both faiths shouldn’t have a problem with whomever accomplishes and completes the messianic mission.
Islam, by definition, cannot.
