Welcome to Week Whatever of the New Blog Showcase!

This is the carnival where new bloggers are featured so you can find some of the best new ones and hopefully quit reading just the same old stuff you’ve been reading for the last few years in (futile) hopes of a link tossed your way. You know who I mean. Indeed.

So, on with it!

First up is ArmyWifeToddlerMom, an Army wife and a mom of a toddler. (Damn, I’m smart!) All silliness on my part aside, she sends a touching post written after her husband returned from Iraq:

That first night alone the hotel….When the children finally fell asleep. I clung to him and cried. I am not a big crier–try not to be anyway. Reunion is frightening…

Ouch. I’m not a crier at all, and I felt that one. If you ever wondered “what it’s like” for the military spouses, she’s got it all out there for you to read, and it’s a great read! Congratulations, ArmyWife, on your long-awaited reunion…and thanks for the sacrifices YOU make along with your husband.

Carnal Reason really does have a gift for reason; you may find yourself reevaluating your position on certain things when faced with brutal logic–this is a GOOD thing. He’s not all stone-faced though, not by a longshot–as you’ll see in this post about the “Fat Tax”:

As the nanny state expands, we can eventually hope to take advantage of certain economies of scale. For example, the Transportation Security Administration could lend a hand in efforts to combat prostate and cervical cancer. Airport security screeners could administer ‘digital’ exams, killing two birds with one stone.

heeheehee Brilliant! Nothing quite like logic with a healthy dose of sarcasm…Go read that one, and everything else!

“Thoughts by Seawitch” might make you think “liberal” just from the blog name. HA! Not quite! Seawitch is a Protest Warrior in south Mississippi, which pleases me because I didn’t even know there were Protest Warriors around this area! (I didn’t think there even were any protestors to PW against in this blood-red part of the country, but that must just be here in Mobile.) ANYWAY, enough chatter. As you may know, Israel’s Independence Day was last week, and Seawitch shares some surprisingly good finds in Germans to sing Happy Birthday to Israel:

In an encouraging sign, “I Like Israel”, has also been in contact with Turkish and Kurdish groups in Germany. Another group contacted is “Muslims and Arabs for Israel.”

… Below are two of the e-mails received from Arabs/Muslims. A lot of the e-mails were heart wrenching, especially the Libyan who wanted to move to Israel so he could be free.

Now, for some reason, there were only three submissions for the Showcase this week, but I want to add a few that I’ve noted recently (and probably so have you)…

I’m a pathological surfer, and I found 63 Days last week. This isn’t anything like the rest of these blogs; it’s a narrative of the writer’s experience at age 15 when she was sent to one of those “boot camps” for teenagers, back in the 80’s. I could NOT stop reading it! Start at the beginning… it is fascinating!

You didn’t think I was going to let this stuff get past MY turn at the Showcase, did you? No, they don’t need help with linkage or traffic (especially with my cough “pathetic stats” cough–but I digress). I’m not EVEN going to link to Zsa Zsa’s little “blog” (celebrity doodle pad), are you kidding me? THIS is Laurence Simon’s latest brainchild, and the FIRST of the Zsa Zsa-mocking sites. As has been duly noted by Zsa Zsa’s minions, as well. :wink: Curious about what they’re saying over at That Other Site? Check out Huffington Is Full of Crap; they do the painful reading so we don’t have to. As Michelle Malkin said, “Do it for the little people!” (Little people meaning those of us without a built-in source of traffic right from the start.)

Next up is Huffington’s Toast, where the “celebrities” loosen up when they’re not busy at Zsa Zsa’s site. :wink: Quite an eclectic group there, I have to say…from Zsa Zsa and Walter Cronkite to Martha Stewart to…Instapundit? But no Gwyneth Paltrow??? Hmmmm. Waitaminute–something seems vaguely familiar…

Some people are appalled at the thought of parodying a high-profile blog. Indeed.
Instapundit is NOT pleased.
